Another good one. Your videos consistently find the right balance of detail and efficiency. Never excessive nor incomplete. And you devote the right amount of time to each one. Great for a "working" coffee break or (as now) on a Saturday morning when the part of my household that doesn't get up before 10:00am is still asleep. Been using SketchUp for a few months, and still didn't know about saving views. Worth a few minutes to get that tip!

Number 4 seems like the one I probably still do although I don't consider it a waste because there's always that thing especially in architectural representation where clients will ask for a virtual model or VR views or additional renders then the objects you put in your model become necessary. Good video!

I come back to Sketchup every now and then. Every time the same mistakes is made. Sticky geometry, forget to group and/or make component. Misaligning objects. Usually I get quite far with my model and then I start over doing it right the second time. I do love Sketchup because it is easy to use but you get punished hard for doing stupid mistakes. Love you videos. This one was right on the money.

Lots of videos mention groups for organizing stuff - great way to make an object that doesn't stick to surrounding geometry, can be moved around, copied etc without polluting model's "Components" storage. But this was actually the first time I saw outliner (although it wasn't even mentioned, if I'm not mistaken). I wish I knew about it earlier, because now I have a model with couple of hundreads of "flat groups", and many of them are called just "Group" :) Didn't know about left/right selection difference, too. Thanks!

When you import models from the warehouse or any where else, there is something I often forget, to remove the tags they come with so they do te mess with those in my model if you have it organized. (Tags are very useful, as groups and components naming are, to have your model well organized and easy to work with as it grows big)

I'm coming back to say that I have now gained enough skills to make cabinets better using the offset tool. Before I manually drew each line & did not hit an arrow to lock it and I did approximate measurements instead of typing in specific ones. Now I will make the largest size rectangle & use offset to reduce for outlines of where doors start. Put a line down the middle. Offset again for individual door frames, etc. I was able to complete in just a few minutes something that took me hours before- and I have much more accurate ones that I saved as a group.

Hi there, I like your videos, they are a great source of knowledge for beginners and also for advanced users. So thanks for going to the trouble of making all of these videos. I also just want to throw in, that I do not like the scale tool for flipping objects, because it has shown over and over again that many users try to do a quick one and make scaling mistakes as a result. I do prefer, in order to make sure all stays accurate, to use the context command flip along red, green, or blue axis.
@Thesketchupessentials5 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much Olav - I think this one comes down to workflow preference - for me I have trouble picking the correct axis to flip along on the first try, so I use the scale tool. That said, if users have trouble scaling to the right value, they should probably use the flip along command instead. Thanks!
