Well I suggest a rifle with a muzzle brake because it creates a significant enough shockwave to displace the water, while also being able to film very close/ tight shots of it happening...also rigging an artificial rainstorm would be cheap, and you could easily control the water pressure/intensity for different effects. Either way, I think it would be awesome to watch at like 27K FPS

Such as physics. _or context._ To explain: A basic knowledge in physics can immediately point out that ballistic-barrel friction slows the projectile down when the barrel is extended. The end of the dart has friction against the barrel due to the massive surface area of the dart tail piece/stabilizer. Therefore, a barrel extension does not make a dart more powerful, but actually less powerful. Do not apply conventional firearm logic to a dart gun, the projectiles and method of launch are very different. I can't explain context for you. You either watched the video or you didn't. *Edit:* I don't usually revisit comments but this one (posted originally on February 13th, 2020) is incorrect. It was made with a largely ignorant understanding of modern ballistics. A quick google search can pull up "The Effect of Blowgun Length on the Energy of Its Projectile" from the University of South California. which very concisely summarizes the effect of extending the barrel length of a blowgun (although, admittedly, this was an informal study conducted for a state science fair). As Caleb pointed out, a longer barrel means that there is more volumetric air to accelerate the dart before it leaves the barrel. More volume means longer time for the missile (the dart) to be accelerated before it leaves the barrel. Bigger chamber means more time for the forces of pressure to act upon the missile. Basic physics. Look at "Tube Volume and Dart Velocity" on the Blowgun Forum for a better understanding. What both my original comment and Caleb's correction fails to illustrate, however, is the effect of pressure on the missile itself. Looking at the results of the theses of Brandon Louis Clark (student of the Honors College of University of South Florida), "Effect of Barrel Length on the Muzzle Velocity and Report from a Mosin-Nagant 7.62x54R Rifle," it can conclusively be determined that reducing the barrel length from the standard reduces the missile's (bullet's) barrel velocity. This aligns with the understanding that increasing barrel length ultimately increases barrel velocity. Quoted multiple times within Clark's theses is Robert Rinker's "Understanding Firearm Ballistics." The reason why Daniel is able to shoot a faster dart yielding a more powerful impact is because the barrel extension provides Daniel the capacity to create a larger mean pressure. The two biggest factors in obtaining a higher mean pressure (also referenced as average pressure by Rinker) is increasing peak pressure and the duration of pressure. These concepts are described heavily in pages 53-56 of the aforementioned book. As clockworkkirlia points out, the propulsion within the chamber of a blowgun is different than that of a conventional firearm. While Daniel, along with any other blowgun operator, do not benefit from extreme discharges of energy that smokeless powder (or more archaically, gunpowder/black powder) does, the human lungs can dispel a relatively constant stream of propulsion. This allows blowdarts to partially ignore a loss of pressure within the barrel's chamber. What I must personally note is that as the barrel length and/or diameter increases, the volume increases. See the calculations presented by Blowgun Forum user NightKnight on "Tube Volume and Dart Velocity." The primary benefit of an increased volume is that it increases the duration of pressure. The primary deficit is that, as pointed out by Rinker in page 55 of his book, increasing the volume decreases the pressure. This is due to Boyle's law, which states that pressure shares an inversely proportional relationship with volume (Pressure equals Force divided by Volume; P = F/V). Thus, in order for the velocity of a missile to benefit from a longer/larger barrel, force must increase as the missile travels further down the barrel. The reason why my initial comment is partially valid is because it is based off common everyday experience. Moving objects parallel to a surface and perpendicular to gravity, such as pushing a box across the floor, will result in the production of friction as an opposing force. Friction increases as velocity increases. Thus, as the blowdart travels further down the barrel at an increasing speed, the tail will suffer greater friction. Compounded with the fact that pressure is decreasing, alongside a multitude of other factors, it stands to reason that as the barrel length continues to increase, the gains in barrel velocity will begin to diminish. This conclusion is supported by Tom Gaylord in his article "How barrel length affects airgun performance" on Pyramyd Air. *TL;DR* Blowguns lengths are typically at peak performance between 4 feet and 7 feet. Longer blowguns are more powerful but more unwieldy. They also demand greater output from the lungs. Anything over 7 feet is excessive. Some, but not all, firearm logic can be applied to blowguns (mostly fundamental aspects). If you're looking for the joke it's at 3:57. Context is at 3:45, but that makes it boring.
