Through my years of mining, I came to the conclusion that 5" of duff or top soil,equates to 40 to 50 years of season's. Then comparing to topography maps, to old Placer mining areas it's saves me about 15 pans thrown per hole.lot less back work.🙂

I wish videos like this would post how much the gold they find is worth. Sure you can find gold easy and everywhere in some regions, but if it's worth pennies, then it's probably more profitable to go hunting for dropped change in downtown cities.

Going hunting for dropped change definitely isn’t more profitable, once you learn the value of gold and what it looks like you can figure pretty easily how much it’s worth, the gold here is maybe 10cents worth. On average prospecting in New Zealand equates to about minimum wage.

In my country we dont wear shoes when we go to a mining pit.We used mud or rain boots.

We usally do as well however when you have to walk an hour over hills to get to the site first it’s more effective to wear good shoes for the walk that then get wet then gumboots, this was a calculated decision

What’s the requirements for there to be gold in the land? Does there have to be volcanic activity or southern hemisphere or is it found almost everywhere? I genuinely have 0 idea about this stuff

Gold is extremely complex and no one really knows, but mineralisation is key, areas where there are lots of minerals there is usually gold, in NZ the areas with mineralisation are those being pushed up by tectonic upthrust and thus the areas with the gold
