Ever since I was a little boy, I've always wanted to surf places like Pipe, Waimea, Mavericks, Jaws, J Bay etc. Growing up on the East coast with the exception of hurricane season we were lucky to get chest high waves. But people don't understand that surfing is one of the most addictive things out there. As a former addict, and now 38 years old, I can tell you right now that the one thing that I cannot get out of my system is surfing. It is something that will consume your life, and I now live 8-10 hours from the beach. Every time I head towards the coast, I still take my board. Just in search of that feeling of being one with nature and finding that perfect wave and carving it into my masterpiece. Whether the line less for 20 seconds or a minute, there is no better feeling than dropping in to a wave. So many people will not understand what I'm talking about. This is an amazing video, you got a new sub here! Stay safe and keep up the phenomenal work!

Good work, I feel the butterflies getting up on him at first, hours, days of prep and it's reality time. Then once the mojo gets flowing it's wahoo! Give me more! Many sports present the challenge, be it standing at the edge of a bowl on skis after a big storm, or getting ready to drop into a mountain biking trail.

I had this experience surfing Hanalei Bay (toilet bowl closed out) 30-40 ft Dec 25 @ 1972. Paddling for my life and heart pumping so loud felt like a loud speaker. Took a smaller wave in from the toilet bowl Middle section and thanked god I was still alive. Many locals were hooting bottom turns on the front of their boards going thru long long tubes open enough for 2-3 transport buses stacked on top of each other and about a mile long wave perfection. Great video, it s not joke paddling thru huge waves, life and death, especially back then pure paddling and no extra gear.......Anyway much love for the video.

Similar situation happen to me here in Puerto Rico we paddled out to a outer reef called Caballos in San Juan a sick bowl a fourth a mile from shore, we taught it was around 10’-12’ but when we got to the line up the big sets where nearing 20’ foot ,then it happened as you said the horizon wasn’t there any more !! My buddy and me look at each other in fear and we paddle hard but didn’t make it this was in 86’ no vest no jet ski thank god we didn’t get pulled into the bowl that would have been really bad and luckily made it into the channel ,the marina was just a couple of minute from shore and one guy saw us paddling out who was preparing to head out for marlin fishing and rescued us. Respect to all big wave surfers part athletes part hell’s man !!!
