They made it 2 minutes and 20 seconds before it began to fall apart....maybe an all time record! What brilliant comedic timing!

Back in the 90s, the Brothers did a show in Worcester, Massachusetts for an historic 1857 concert hall fundraiser where I was president of the board of directors. The concert was terrific. We also had an after show gathering for the attendees who had already made contributions. Tom and Dick came out and mingled. Tom came over to me and said they would be happy to do a skit for the donors. They did about fifteen minutes and the donors were ecstatic. This was not in their contract, so it says a lot about these guys. After, they continued to mingle. I stayed to almost to the end. When I left, Tom and Dick were at the bar with about a dozen fans, all having a great time. Tom and Dick can sure party.

Gotcha. I always felt like they were trying. Had some talent. I bought one of their albums in the 60's. The thing I liked about them was Tom's way of promotion. And his brand of 'shove it up your nose' stuff. He was definitely not one to conform.

I think the Smothers Brothers had the most beautiful harmony. Tommy was sooo cute and Dickie had a voice smooth as silk. I think I have a crush.

Has anyone noticed how much Tommy looks like Johnny Carson? They look enough alike to be brothers.

Yes, very true. But (hear me out) Flea looks like he could be the lovechild of Tommy and Animal from the Muppets.

They don't have shows like that anymore. They could make you laugh without cussing or making dirty or political jokes.🌹❤

Dick Smothers was one of the few celebrities of his era that alternated which side he parted his hair on.

The TV censors got them cancelled at the height of The Smothers Brothers TV show. These men stood by their political convictions, more than can be said about a great many people today. I so miss the 1960's, for all the change ,Viet Nam war protesting I did and the promise of a better world.

It amused me the people that complained they never completed a song. That was the point. I suppose there's always someone who doesn't get the joke.

They revived the show for a while in the mid-70s on NBC and in the late-80s back on CBS. Judging by how they look here this is probably from the late-80s

The mainstream doesn't want you to see talented white men, not this level of talent.
@msmith53 Жыл бұрын
What the hell does that mean? Most entertainment is color blind, (as a former performer, it is about TALENT, not skin color!).
@TheBigMclargehuge Жыл бұрын
The golden globes started with a 3 minute speech about diversity and inclusion. What does diversity mean in practice? Less whites of course. Hollywood and the mainstream media are not interested in talent. The actors and actresses they push in the biggest movies and the most viewed network shows are not revered and loved by anyone. There are no Bette Davises or Richard Burtons of today. They remade Ariel black, snow white an ugly latina and Peter Pan Asian.. Oh but Captain Hook, he can stay a white guy. They are interested only in "inclusion" and pushing their woke agenda and they practice it by openly excluding whites no matter how talented. @@msmith53
