Nice review Cowboy! I replaced both the seat and trunk shock with the Show Chrome ones on my 2022 Sea-to-Sky. I am also one of those rare owners that actually likes and uses the BRP Go app and the BRP Connect on the Spyder along with my android phone. I replaced the back tire at 25 000km (15,500 miles) and the front ones at 30 000km (18,640 miles). Now at over 41 000km (25,475 miles) and riding season is almost over here, the next service is the big one which I will probably get done next spring. I am really satisfied with my Sea-to-Sky. Cheers Cowboy!

Overall, I am as well. I put the beefier strut on the Top Box and it works well, BUT with Sgt. ALF's big butt, it's a guessing game. If he wasn't on it, I would be no problem. I've got a lot of catching up to do to even come close to you my friend.

I agree with your assessments, except my frunk seals are holding up well (so far). 12,000 miles on my 2023, and overall love it.

I have a 2021 RT Limited that I bought used in 2023 with 750 miles. If it had a strut holding the seat up, it was broken when I got it. I just prop my knee under it. Never used the BRP software...just bluetooth my helmet to my phone.
@theSMYRNAcowboy18 күн бұрын
The strut pretty much sucks. Somethings I can look over, but on a $$$$ bike like this, they should have made it a tad stronger. Or, made it work to begin with. 😆 I'm like you, don't like the BRP software.

10k miles for the rear is normal, but you should get over 20k on the fronts and maybe 25k to 30k. The new Kenda Spyder tire might be available by spring. They're "supposed" to last longer and cost less than the current tires... 🤔... we'll see. 😁👍
@theSMYRNAcowboy27 күн бұрын
Thanks for the info my friend. That gives me another excuse.......I mean reason to wait till spring. The tires look pretty good. I need to invest in a tread depth gauge. I had one when I worked for "Brad Regan Goodyear" before I got the Bridgestone job. I used to mount Tractor Trailer tires and deliver them to freight companies.
@SpyderWayne27 күн бұрын
Ahh, Brad Regan, a huge dealer for Goodyear, and I remember when Goodyear bought controlling interest. I rarely use a tread depth gauge, only for my camper tires lately. I just keep an eye on the tread wear bars. For the Spyder, you just need to look for the tread wear bars right beside the center strip. That's where the rear tires wear out first. You can always use a penny, if you can't see all of Lincoln's head, you're ok. When you can see all of his head, time to dust off the ol' wallet ☺️👍
@theSMYRNAcowboy27 күн бұрын
In all good faith, I must correct you sir. You don't have to dust off the wallet, you may need to sell a kidney. LOL! We had to have a depth gauge for all the truckers to keep in line with DOT regs on the steer tires. If I remember correctly (That means I'm probably wrong) the minimum depth on the front steer tires are 11/32. Anything lower can be put on a trailer until 4/32. Then they can be retreaded. Back then, tires (Casings) and be retreaded Four times. Who knows nowadays.
@SpyderWayne27 күн бұрын
I don't remember all the rules, I think Goodyear avoided retreads on steer tires, retreads were for drive tires and trailer tires. I don't remember the specs for truck tire tread depth minimum standards, and frankly, that's all now a past life 😁

I didn't realize you have had your RT this long. It seems like yesterday you bought it. Susan's RT has the same problem with the fronk weather seal. I have to re-glue it regularly. She gets 35 MPG with her 990 too. Try not to pick on our two wheeled brethren. They just haven't known the joy of parking in a bad spot and not worrying about dropping the bike. 😎
@theSMYRNAcowboy27 күн бұрын
Jon is a good guy. He is one of us. If I didn't pick on him, now and again, he would honestly think I was pissed at him. 😆 It seems like I just bought the bike last year, but time stops for no one. I still got some good tread on the tires. Getting close to the wear bars but not there yet. I know I'll have to change them out next spring. I'm going to try Viper6 suggestion on using the 3M adhesive next week. I may shoot a video on that one. Holy Crap I've been cranking the videos out this year! I've still got more to edit. Ain't retirement cool.🤪

Don’t like the BRP connect either! The seat & top box struts are a known problem, have already upgraded mine on our 2022 RTL to show chrome ones! The other issue they need to address is the trip / fuel gauges as they don’t give the true readings what so ever! Plus get rid of those reflectors & make them lights from the off, instead of letting everyone buy the aftermarket ones. Otherwise it’s a fun ride, ride safe regards Stephen Alberta Canada.
@theSMYRNAcowboy24 күн бұрын
Thanks for your reply, Steve. I don't know if other motorcycle companies have marker lights on the side standard or not. I never did the research. Just like any bike, there are tons of aftermarket farkles out there. You just have to be careful of electronics because of the CanBus system. The jury is still out on that one.
@NCStoney27 күн бұрын
Every bike is a compromise. I’m not defending manufacturers, but motorcycles are built to a price-usually what the bean counters decide. It has to be frustrating as an engineer, knowing the parts could be better. If it’s any consolation, the Triumph connect app sucks, too. Hondas use Apple/Android connections, and I think they are the only motorcycle manufacturer that does. Nice review.
@theSMYRNAcowboy27 күн бұрын
Thanks Stoney. In the 24/25 Spyders, they have Apple CarPlay software, but they are getting the bugs out of it. They have done "Updates" on the BRP app. I may try it again soon but, we shall see.

Hope you haven't replaced the seat strut yet. Looks like slingmods has just released what looks like a better solution which is much easier to install. Check out their SE Performance Flip-Up Seat Support Bracket for the Can-Am Spyder RT (2020+). Fortunately, I don't seem to need one on my 2024. At least not yet. What I might be able to use are those blind spot mirrors you've got above the stock mirrors. Can you provide some information about those? Thanks
@theSMYRNAcowboy19 күн бұрын
Not yet. I've seen that "flip up" solution as well. Looks like an easier install than the strut is. Especially, at my age, my fat hands would have a time with the seat strut. 😆 In answer to your question, here is a video I made on these blind spot mirrors. I like to think outside the box. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJe9ZYqdis6ogLM Hope this helps.

@@theSMYRNAcowboy Thank you for the mirror link. Of course that particular one isn't available any more - though there are similar options which I might look into. My current solution is doing OK.

Nice review. I think they should fix the seat and the strut. The strut are all known to be weak.
@theSMYRNAcowboy27 күн бұрын
Thanks Big Brother. The seat strut is notorious for being inadequate to hold up the seat. The beefier strut is not that expensive but just coming out of the factory, it should be better. As far as the seat goes, I would eat more salads. 😆

3M makes good weather strip glue. There is not excuse for the seat ripping bro. Yep, strut seems to be a common issue.

Thanks for the suggestion brother. I'll pick up some next week and give it a shot. May do a video on the repair. I thought about using black electric tape over the tears but that would be true southern redneck.🤷♂ The strut thing is an annoyance. I just have to save up my allowance or ask Santa for it. Not a "Must have" purchase now. I've dealt with it this long. 😜

"The Clunk', yes most irritating, but just the way it is. If ya want to let it idle for few mins, makes it less irritating. Seat shock, worthless, replaced two OEM's, finally an aftermarket. However, I do like the RTL, so nothing's perfect.

I agree. I've heard that Harley-Davidsons have the same "Clunk" as well. It's just the way it goes. Thanks for the advice.
