Fun History Fact: the distinctive iron prow of a Venetian gondola is called a "fero da prora", which just means "iron prow". Real creative, Italians. Anyway, the prow is designed to provide counterweight to balance out the gondolier at the stern, and its form is meant to visually evoke a lion's mane. Laith's hair style serves much the same purpose. It evokes the lion, and provides a counterbalance to his chin.

Actually Verona is the heart of industry of Veneto, also has bigger pop than Venice. I'm Venetian-Veronese so I know, it actually makes sense also because it appeases the Lombards.

@@IronWolf123 simply in the last 150 years industrialization was made from coal steel and railways, then from oil gas and wheels. Water and boats that once made Venice the richest city in Europe and the World were not the most efficient means of transportation anymore. Also Verona is the main hub from all transport to Germany since it's the biggest city in the only main road to Germany and northern Europe. From the 500k people at it's peak Venice only has 50k now. It's like a village, and more and more people are leaving. It has the institutions and the University, but for the rest it's like Disneyland. A city given up to tourism. But it's normal, it's a jewel that can never be imitated and will never exist like this. By the way climate change doesn't bother Venice, they built a mobile dam 10 years ago, the sinking stuff is not more than the sinking of NYC, small millimetres.

Your ships can only be upgraded when they are in port. And it goes pretty quickly. They just have to be stationed at an HQ instead of a seanode

The only thing about this update I hate is how transportation and railroads work now. Since urban centers make transportation now, railroads are only useful in places with lots of mines or farms, and even then, they are usually barely profitable.

I do think that you should continue. There are many treaty ports that Venice should establish across the Aegean and Black Sea. Ionian Islands also need to be secured. And perhaps some "reasonable" expansion should occur, both with further Mediterranean treaty ports (Malta, Gibraltar, north african coast) but also establishing firmer control over the Adriatic. And of course, if the Suez Canal is built, surely Venice should be the one in control. And Souther Tyrol should be secured for a cleaner northern border and to limit Austrian influence. I wouldn't form Italy as Venice. Remain distinct and focus on controlling the Mediterranean.

Ah, Laith plays the esteemed Serene Republic of Venice. Destroying Constantinople with Crusaders is not the only thing they are good at apparently. But nice work expanding. 😄 Im playing as Denmark right now, and Austria is a pain as they want Schleswig-Holstein. Prussia doesnt even care. The new military system is complex, but neat. You should play with Victoria tweaks mod, it rebalances a lot of stuff mainly to do with AI decisions and fixes sone bugs.

Weirdly enough, optimally legal guardianship is probably the best womens rights until you start running out of peasants, as pop growth is much more useful early game than extra workforce for most as it scales better. Once you start running out propertied women then into suffrrage(Since by default 25% of the pop is workers, so that extra 5% from propertied women is already a 20% increase in available labor).

I don't get this game: I am world leader in Coal, Engine and Steel - yet I am occasionally missing 1000s of those... apparently I have -5000 rubber, yet my Tool production is unaffected - I am number 2 in SoL and all relevant goods are around -50% world prices due to overproduction (especially the 10.000 wheat/fruit/electricity/clothes/meat), ALL my factories and wages are at the top of world and I have dozens of trade routes bringing in 1000s of cash, but somehow millions are starving because the lower Strata is missing 0.1 point from expected minimum SoL (I have full social security, suffrage and emergency relief decree doesn't do anything). I have 1 Mio soldiers? Nah man Krakow is taking a shot at resisting with it's ... zero divisions... Oh you killed half millionen Austrians and there combined armies have 10K manpower and you're in Budapest already? Better let that war-score go down for another 6 months. Seriously, I am beating the game, but nothing makes sense :D
