His departure comes after the Endeavor merger and with much of Vince McMahon's power waning and marks the start of a new era for the company in terms of its production. Kevin Dunn was so obsessed with "capturing moments" that he was narrow minded towards everything else. Other promotions like AEW are guilty of this as well. They hard cut to the fan cam during a sequence when that time should have been used to capture *that* part of the match. I wish that the next head of production really does put more of an effort into capturing the actual action first and everything else second. We don't need another "Angry Miz Girl" or "Brock Lesnar Guy." They come and go. You only get one shot to capture the return of a Hall of Famer or a legendary moment.

So I was a WCW fan my whole life, back before it was even really WCW. So the WWF/E product never really appealed to me. I mean I watched it and there were stars I really liked. But I stuck with my southern rasslin. Having said all that, I am very optimistic in the direction WWE is going in. They have great established stars, and they really seem to be bolstering their younger talent. For the first time in my life, I think I can finally say that I’m looking forward to seeing what WWE does from here.

His old stuff was good. The run up entrances circa late 80’s/early 90’s were awesome. Now there are way to many camera cuts and less shots from the hard cam. They also zoom in way too much. But that is because they don’t present it as a sport. You literally need a hard cam and 1/2 floor cameras moving around ringside.

People have mentioned the problems with the camera work and I second that, but I also want to see them change the entire presentation, mostly the set. Raw especially is so hard on the eyes. So much bright red, it’s so harsh and ugly. Also all of the LED screens, the digital ring aprons, the stupid looking ring posts…. It’s all horrible and it makes me enjoy the product much less even though everything else has improved so drastically. I miss the gritty feel of the late 90s and ruthless aggression era. It doesn’t have to be so bright and colorful and sterile looking. I hope someone can come in and transform it to something that’s still modern but gritty and not so bright and in your face. It should feel like a sport. It should feel like pro wrestling. Not some ride at Universal Studios. Fucking yikes

I won’t besmirch the name of Kevin Dunn and that’s mainly because a lot of what we know regarding him is hearsay. I don’t know the man and can only judge him by the job he did at presenting the product on TV from the production side. And from that perspective? He was pretty good until the 2010’s. I think his direction was heavily influenced under McMahon and at the end of the day the buck stops with him. He’s probably retiring cause he worked for 40 years. A lot of people tend to retire at around that time.

This is weird. It's easy to cherry pick some screwups in a decades long career and make them out to be malicious or the clear sign of utter incompetence. What the reality seems like is this was a dude who was not well loved and probably had some bad ideas but was simultaneously an indispensable part of creating the juggernaut that grew to be WWE. Humans are complicated, and you don't know this guy. We should just say, let's hope the person who replaces him is even better.

The man really knew camera shots and angles and making things so big and in terms of scale but i do NOT mourn his loss. Someone can be a producer and respect wrestling. Can't wait to see them talk about PRO WRESTLING again.
