The title and the lyrics of this song always remind me of my grandad. He died in 2019. When I was a kid of about 8 or 9, I used to sit on a stool by the window in my grandparents' home, while my granddad stood beside me with binoculars, spotting birds for me to look at by the baths he'd put out to attract them. He and I would just sit there for awhile, and bond while we'd watch the birds make nests, take baths, and play together. I live far from where he grew up, but to this day I keep little birdfeeders on my apartment windows, and when I see them take flight, I always think about him, and this song hits me because the lyrics are about taking flight and ascending higher, just like he did, and just like I one day will. At least he didn't have to watch Covid happen in his twilight years.

Love that reference to "Of Mice & Men" and the comparison to how our best plans never work out. Just like George and Lenny were going to get a little place, live off the fat of the land and feed the rabbits. It all went south pretty quickly for them. I'm honestly surprised that Nujabes didn't become a household name. His music was (and still is) catchy and memorable I know that many youtubers and musicians such as The Super Best Friends, Maxmoefoe, Joji (aka filthy frank) Sky (the league player) Dunkey (I think) and MMOxMXR ( I think that's how you spell it, that one mod review guy) use and like his work. But I would love for someone to make more music like this and pick up where he left off and popularize the style. Joji used to make the same kinda rainy day beat feel that I associated with Nujabes but he's sorta left that behind in order to focus on what his fans want (which is something I can respect) but I just really think that this style and feel could have a lot of untapped potential.

+This Is Not Even My Final Form The thing is you never know what is going to take off. I'm sure this garbo r&b phase will end soon. To me this song feels more like a prayer to myself, to fight the evil within me, to see life for its simple pleasures and to be cheerful despite the chaotic and mad world we live in

+dyfr I don't understand people, who have to take drugs to enjoy music. Maybe thats because they are listening to dubstep or something. Only thing you need is great music like this, and you are far more satisfied than with drugs.

I never realized how profound the effect of music could be on the human soul til I listened to Nujabes starting several years ago and in particular this song, which was my first. There were other factors, and as corny as it may sound, I credit his music as part of the reason I am alive today. His works helped bring me peace at difficult times. I wish he was alive today so I could thank him in some way, but I guess the least we can do now to honor his memory is listening to his music and telling others about it, which is why I am happy about jhope introducing new listeners, and I hope others feel the same as well.

You don't corny at all, or we both do haha. And I'm glad to see you're still with us brotha. I just rediscovered this song after years of not listening to it. Hearing it again brought back tears and a flood of memories in which I used this song to be able to cope with traumatic events in my own upbringing, and focus myself into the person I wanted to be today. I feel incredibly lucky that this was produced and that we were able to hear it in such dark times. It brings me hope to see Nujabes' works are still getting recognition today.

The way I look at it - Who would want to keep such a beautiful spirit on Earth anyways? Pretty selfish. . . RIP Nujabes. Thanks for the beauty you have shared with me. Sometimes the sweetest joyrides are the shortest ones. . .

Modern rap is like junk food, fun at parties and in small doses, but too much exposure and you find yourself years later, soul corroded and bones breaking under the weight of their own sin in the fruitless endeavor of hedonistic distraction. This stuff, this is food for the soul. After so many years of bad rap influencing my life, maybe some good stuff can still be found in this genre where sick beats and unforgettable rhythms lie in wait for their preferred audience.
