I was layed off from my corporate job and, more sadly had laid to rest my beloved 14 yr old miniature schnauzer "Lucy" in the midst of a very stressful 2020. But even in the midst of a storm there's a rainbow 🌈. I discovered a new passion for gardening .....in part thanks to your videos and others on youtube! Even on a tight budget, I have created a small backyard oasis that my husband refers to as my "meditation". Love your garden tour videos! Would love a ProPlugger too! 😊 thanks!

Pretty snow gracing the garden. I am thrilled about all the garden gadgets. I would for sure use the pro plugger for bulb planting because I have a terrible habit of not planting deep enough. 🤦🏾♀️ The garden looks so sweet as it’s going to rest. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Matthew and ProPlugger! Thank you to both for doing this giveaway! Matthew, you did such a great job demonstrating how to use the ProPlugger and the different things you can do with it. If I were to win one, I would use it for bulbs, plant plugs and grass plugs. Also, I would share it with my daughter who does a lot more planting than me. Your gardens look so pretty with the dusting of snow on them. Your pups are so cute! I'm glad you showed them. The heucheras, allium and yarrow are going to be so pretty together. I hope you have a very nice and relaxing time off from videos. You certainly deserve it after all that you've accomplished this year! I'm looking forward to your Fall/Winter tour and what your gardens will look like next year. Thank you so much for sharing!

What a wonderful thing that they did by accepting your desire to sponsor a giveaway. I have sciatica issues and bending, twisting is a huge pain and after harvesting 35# of peppers I am now down and out with my back. I have an auger for planting bulbs that I use with an antique brace and bit that worked for me but that is no longer an option this ProPlugger would allow me to stand while digging the holes and my hubs could place the bulbs. I have 30 saffron crocus bulbs to plant very soon, well, as soon as I can physically do it recovering from my current crisis. Enjoy your break and recharge. Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving! Beautiful pups!

I'm so excited to have found your channel! I am a (fairly new) midwestern gardener (central Indiana zone 5). I have enjoyed watching your garden grow and develop. You have worked very hard on it and it is beautiful. I am loving this ProPlugger tool. What a "game changer" for planting bulbs and lawn repair plus more! I’m new to this channel and am so fascinated with the way he likes to combine plants and why, especially with the colors and what works well together. While I fully understand taking a month off to rest and enjoy the holidays, may I make a request for a series I think will work well during winter? It would be so beneficial for people like me, who are new to ornamental gardening, to hear someone as knowledgeable as this guy to talk about different plants he loves and hates in the garden in detail. Maybe feature a plant or so in each episode to do an in depth lesson on the different options. When he walks through his garden, he mentions things quickly, and I feel I have to scramble to write it down before I lose that pearl of knowledge. I know books are a great resource, but I really like how this guy talks and thinks about plants specifically. Just an idea that I, and maybe others, would really appreciate. Otherwise, I look forward to the next videos after his rest time!

Dear Matthew - Thank you sooo... much for showing the various uses for the Pro Plugger - I am putting this on my Christmas wish list this year - it will definitely help me continue to enjoy the gardening next year - as a senior with bending issues it should help me planting the number of annuals and small perennials I put it every spring - I first found you on You tube through Jess @ Roots and Refuge and you have become one of my favorites - I have a zone 5b suburban garden in Connecticut with multiple garden beds and diminishing grass areas with each year of planting. Enjoy your holiday season and I look forward to what your plans will be in the spring.

What a neat tool! I think I should get one for my neighbor for Christmas. She would love that! I planted close to 500 bulbs this past weekend including Allium. I planted a lot more bulbs in saved pots from the nurseries today. I am not sure how many that I planted today. 🤪I lost count. I am trying new things to me next season. I’ve never had Corydalis or Bleeding Heart planted here. I can’t wait to see how those do next season. Your garden is coming along beautifully! I am looking forward to seeing it next year. I hope your break is peaceful and your holidays are joyous. 💕

What a neat tool! I haven't seen it in some of your other videos, yet (I'm still working my way through your library... about halfway there!). I have back issues, so this would be super helpful in planting bulbs! Also, I have a sloped area in the front of my house, and I think this would make it easier for me to plant up some shade annuals quickly next spring! I hadn't heard of "plugs" before and didn't know that you could buy plants that way, so thank you for that information. I'll be inquiring about those at my local garden centers next spring. I garden in a zone 5b-6a (I live at about an 800 ft elevation, so it is probably closer to 5b), so your channel gives me a lot of inspiration. Thanks so much for sharing your garden! I've already learned a lot from your videos.

I was always told to plant bulbs for spring with the tip of the bulb near the top inch of soil. You plant much deeper than me so I’m excited to see how yours turn out in the spring. I’ve never had luck with tulips, but daffodils do very well. I’m not sure if wildlife eat them before they can grow (under the soil). YES! I love your tours with all the names on the screen of plants please! It will help for my planning and online purchasing over winter. Thank you!
@SouthernersGarden3 жыл бұрын
A general rule is to plant two to three times as deep as the bulb is tall, so smaller bulbs closer to the surface and larger bulbs deeper. All bulbs should have planting instructions as to depth as each type of bulb is different. If you're not planting them deeply enough, they may be being dug up by critters or may not make it over winter. Tulips definitely need to be planted deeper. Daffodils in general just tend to naturalize better, so that may be why you're seeing them return and the tulips do not. In the future, I'm going to focus on daffodils as well because I have had good luck with them returning and naturalizing from the few I've added to my own garden.

Two things - first, just wanted to let you know that my dogs do the same thing at the bottom of our stairs. The product I've been using for years that works incredibly well is Doctors Foster and Smith Regular Strength Lawn Guard. My dogs are in the 30-40lb. range (I only give them 1 tablet daily - even though it says 2 for their weight and I have very little to no lawn burn). Second, I am so excited about the ProPlugger - I've already put it in my Amazon cart! Every year I say I am going to plant bulbs and then don't because it seems like so much hassle and mess at a time when I want to be done with the garden. The fact that I can use it for grass and to plant other plant plugs and bulbs makes it a winner in my book. Thank you for sharing. :D

I live in Tennessee (zone 7a) and have some tulips chilling in my garage refrigerator. I would love to try the Pro Plugger to see if it makes bulb planting a little less tedious. Good luck with the heucheras. I’m finding that while I love them in a container, after a year or so they really start to decline in the landscape. I’ve done some basic research and have tried to divide them in attempt to salvage the plants, but with disappointing results. I think I’ll stick to hellebores and hostas as my primary shade/part shade plants.
@SouthernersGarden3 жыл бұрын
I've heard mixed results with heuchera as well. They're a fairly newer addition to my garden just over the past year and I'm hoping they do well considering how many I've added. But I have seen people complain that they're not long lived. Most of the one's I've added recently take more sun, so maybe that makes them a littler hardier. The ones I have in shade that I added a few years ago don't look nearly as good now. Here's to experimenting! :)
