Super great video, can't believe I didn't see it earlier!! Really well structured and well explained process for animating overlapping action, which I think can be difficult to grasp at first, but adds so much life to your animation! A great explanation, amazing drawings, and super inspiring video. Well done, and looking forward to seeing more! 😄

I love this guys ill give this edition of blender a try so hopefully I use it as my main 2D traditional animation software, and thank you for providing amazing tutorials all over these years, your old tutorials at painting from the pre Klaus era was unforgettable, I know you don't questions and this really isn't your thing, however I decided to take my chance and suggest to you guys IF you could make a tutorial for timing charts on how to read them and how to plan them from the start? I think my animation is good enough I really don't use a timing chart I just plan it using the frames of the time line, there are a lot of tutorials that explains their types and what is ease in and what is ease out and what is even timing and spacing, but I couldn't understand the just of it, especially when they got complicated and when they're multiple time lines all at once. thanks again

Thanks for the blender version! I am playing around with it! Would be amazing if you implemented the option to add your 2d animation layout as a template in the "new shot" dialog while in layout mode, so the two different layouts would work together.. I read through the documentation, where it says several times that the Scene: new from template is TBD. I guess you have something working for in house, and i can just set it up manually of course.. I will do that now. But thanks again for making this! The way your rotate function works is much better than vanilla blender. Also flip canvas and the whole layout thing.. You are great! Much love from copenhagen

There seems to be no Mac version of Spa Blender, only for Windows ... On the github site it says: "To test Blender SPA on a different platform you would have to get and compile the Blender fork from its sources and then manually install the 2D Animation and Sequencer add ons." Does anyone have instructions on HOW to do that (compile the Blender fork from it's sources and then manually install the 2D Animation and Sequencer add ons) ???

Off topic, SPA has put quite an effort developing their own version of Blender, does this mean that the studio and perhaps the industry is moving away from Harmony and into Blend Grease Pencil? Thanks!
@alfredocassano3194 Жыл бұрын
Blender is growing a lot. It's difficult to predict where it's going to get in a few years but I would do my best to learn it if I were you, at least the basics. Harmony is still dominant so that's a must

I've tried using the SPA Blender version but what I open doesn't match what's in the documentation or this demo. Has anyone else had this? The sidebar doesn't have the tools shown here and some of the shortcuts aren't working (shift, ctrl, MMB for rotate is the most obvious one that doesn't work). Is there a forum for people using this software to discuss issues and learn from each other?

I really love what you guys are doing to revolutionize this stuff, and I've loved using GP, but alas I'm on a Mac and can't use your Blender fork. Do you know of anyone who's converted it for Mac, since you released the open source code? I havent found anyone who's done it yet and my coding skills are nowhere near being able to do it myself.

How many frames per second were used? And how many frames were there??

24 fps and a bit more than 130 in total

Disney in those early days only made 12 frame-second drawings, doubling them.

Thank you for this wonderful tutorial, it really is a gift! Do you always use pose to pose when animating? I find my animations end up looking stiffer when using pose to pose in comparison to straight ahead, any tips on overcoming this?

Question. You said that you wouldn't animate the secondary action until the primary is at least on twos. I'm assuming that that is intending the finished animation to be on ones? So if you were intending the finished animation to be on threes (like in some animes), would it work to do the secondary action with the primary on sixes?
@alfredocassano3194 Жыл бұрын
things are not so strict in terms of rules. What really counts in the end is the final result. My personal take on the matter of step is that, ideally, I'd never use extra inbetweens where is not necessary. So if the shot works on 2s, I won't add inbetweens on ones. If it works on 3s, so on, unless forbidden by the production. The japanese are masters at this kind of choice, as they dial the step up or down a lot according to the needs, where as western/american animation seem to have an issue stepping out of the 1s/2s step. It's not just a technical issue but a stylistic choice too. Richard Williams would inbetween everything on ones if he could, while Bill Plympton is comfortable with 4s or 5s or more, and both did beutiful things. Ultimately what I'm trying to say in the video is that in order to animate the secondary part, it's best if the main part "refreshes" enough times to comfortably animate on top of it. The final step choice depends on how fast things are moving and on your specific style/language. Hope this answers your question :)

@@alfredocassano3194 Yes, and when it comes to learning style it comes to practice and taste. I think that answers my question. Thank you for the advice.

is blender better than others free software in 2d animation? like krita and opentoonz
@alfredocassano3194 Жыл бұрын
Hi! I can't tell because I still haven't got a chance to use Krita and Opentoonz. But I know Blender is very powerful as it lets you do 2d and 3d in the same environment easily enough. It was a breakthrough for me and I use it any time I can.
