Photofusion X looks great The last time I got Zeiss blue light was the last. After 1 week I got rid of them. I even wrote Zeiss. 1) at night you’d see a blue double of every street light. 2) colors are off and look like they have a slight yellow. So definitely don’t get if you work in photography or branding etc 3) when you do see reflections they are usually blue and stand out more. All these things got annoying to myself and made me never want any blue light filters. Plus the science is out on it. But maybe this new technology is better.
@thespectaclefactory2 жыл бұрын
Well there is certainly no blue reflection on these lenses. Most people didn't have an issue with the old tech (it's dependent on the frame as to whether those reflections angle in to your eyes BTW) but a lot of people like yourself were sensitive to it. So it's great that you can get blue light protection now, if you want it of course, without a reflective finish.

I've just seen this after getting my first pair of Zeiss lenses. I got the Clearview 1.74s and to be brutally honest I haven't noticed a significant increase in sharpness. Maybe a marginal increase in sharp viewing area, although that may be complicated by the increased aberrations created by a higher rx and a higher index compared to a 1.5 lens and a smaller rx. The Platinum coating however? Phenomenal. Instantly noticed a reduction in reflections and the antistatic properties were a game changer in keeping them clean. I do like them a lot.
@thespectaclefactory Жыл бұрын
Appreciate the real-world feedback. Did your prescription change? That can sometimes make it hard to judge. I was comparing mine against several other pairs I own made to the same prescription.
@Reprobator Жыл бұрын
No, I'd had another pair also with 1.74 lenses in the same rx for a few months prior to getting the Clearviews. Still very nice lenses though and I found them very easy to adapt to compared to the previous pair. Always felt like I never fully adapted to the old pair but it was effortless with the Clearviews. Although of course this could be due to other factors like measurements and frame adjustment as you know. Always hard to tell.

From everything I have seen and heard the blue light thing is bit overhyped and as you say definitely not proven to cause any serious medical problems, I think at worst for some people it will give eye strain. So I want to get feedback from my clients over the next few months. Plus on top of that, it's winter and therefore not the best time to be testing it. There is no such product made by Zeiss Germany as AS DriveSafe. The DriveSafe design is inherently not aspherical. Maybe in the US, where they licence the lens designs, they might be able to create weird combinations, but you would be losing most of the functionality of the product. The Zeiss freeform lens design is the most important component of DriveSafe. Changing it to aspherical would make no sense. Here in the UK, they are roughly the same price as SmartLife.

What is the difference between fotofussion and adaptive sun? You said in another video that smartlife technology is the best in Zeiss. What is the difference between smartlife and clear view ?
@P--O Жыл бұрын
Great review! Does these three technologies also come as a "progressive" alternative? Btw I am considering the "Anglo American optical" 426 in "DTAN". What tint (photo fusion x) should i choose? Thank you for your amazing and super informative channel (specially as am working as an Orthoptist) Greetings from Sweden

Hi! We do offer personal consultations - email us via hello@thespectaclefactory.com and we can assist you and hopefully make them for you. There are Zeiss progressive lenses, but ClearView is a single vision lens design only at the moment.

Where do I usually get this stuff? Like you are just going to any glasses place and just asking for all this Zeiss stuff? I'm new to this process

"No visible tint at all" - I got ClearView 1.74 -9.75 with Photofusion X grey and Blueguard. I put them in a crystal frame. The glass is yellow tinted. It looks really bad, because it renders the look of the clear Porsche frame useless. It looks like my liver is not working correctly. But why is it yellow? My optician told me it's normal, because Photofusion X leaves a 3% color (which is the first time I heard that, and the colour I chose is grey, not yellow…) and the material in combination with -9.75 also is yellow-ish. Is that really true? Is there any combination which gets me a really clear glass?

Great video! Is it possible to combine Zeiss ClearView with i scription. Before I had smartlife pro glasses without iscription. Without iscription because my optician said it would make no difference, and with them I had massive chromatic aberration and distortion at the edge of the lens. And compared to my current rodenstock impression mono 2 with dneye pro, the smartlife pro glasses were not really sharp and rich in contrast, even if you disregard the other problems Thx for your Work
@thespectaclefactory Жыл бұрын
Yes you can. I'd be interested to compare both lenses and figure out why the Rodenstock were better. Rodenstock do make fantastic lenses of course
@sopr4n052 Жыл бұрын
@@thespectaclefactory many thanks for the answer. I was surprised myself that I had such problems with the smartlife pro lenses. It was the first time in 20 years that I had problems with new lenses. because of the problems with smartlife pro lenses i switched to rodenstock because as far as i know they are the only ones with dneye pro that have a similar technology as zeiss with iscription. Then I will try the clearview lenses with iscription and hope that they are as sharp and rich in contrast as my current rodenstock.

Hello :) can you introduce some niche brands like Mykita? In particular I would be interested if you would pay 400-500 Euros for their frames? And which are your favourite ones from Mykita for example?
@thespectaclefactory2 жыл бұрын
I think we talk about a lot of niche brands? For example I recommend Reykjavik Eyes a lot, which is why we don't stock Mykita as I think RE are similar but better. However, I certainly think Mykita are worth the money and you won't be disappointed

I was blown away at just how terrible Clearview is with with HI 1.67 material. Got my prescription bumped up to -3 after using -2.5 for several years prior... and carelessly thought I would update my old chunky lenses with a thinner material. But gosh. They are super sharp in the center, yes. But the chromatic aberrations are terrible. The field of view is narrow, there is significant degradation if I look at anything at say 30 degree angle... Makes it a poor fit for everyday uses like say working with 2 monitors. Much worse than I was used to (my prior lenses were some old Hoya lenses... possibly made out of trivex, I forget... so thicker than I wanted... but far less optically compromised). Will try SmartLife and possiby move down to HI 1.6. I'm curious though: does PhotoFusion X introduce any optical compromises? I would be keen to add it too, but only if it comes without additional compromises.

Hi spectacle factory. I am relatively new to the optical glasses market, but i saw that video where you ranked the brands in categories and all my favourite brands where in Luxottica. Therefore I am unsure what to buy. My preferences are full rim, no metal. When it comes to style I want something very classy, elegant and sophisticated. I am wearing most of the time suits therefore it should be not tacky at all like TOM FORD. I have pretty similar face shape like you I´m blond and white. And there is no budget limit. I would really appreciate it if you could help me out here. P.s. Really good content!

I just got an old frame re-glazed with DV BlueProtect. I was expecting just a standard FSV, but they fitted an Aspheric (AS50) and the sharpness is off the scale. They’re much sharper than my Smartlife lenses, but like you say, almost uncomfortably so. 😵💫

Better in what respect? I would say certainly better in clarity than any lens you can get with Transitions, these being Zeiss. There is PhotoFusion X Extra Dark, which would be a better comparison with Xtractive. I need to test them out so it will be a while before I reach a conclusion

A month ago I bought new lenses. I went for the top of the line new Zeiss. Progressive lenses. I used to have Leica lenses which are amazing. After a month with the Zeiss I brought them back because they are not good at all. Feel dizzy, headaches, not clear and very small focus area. Hopefully it’s just a flaw on my lenses and it will be corrected. Anyway back with my Leica which even with a lesser correction than needed are way better.
@thespectaclefactory Жыл бұрын
Most likely an error in prescription or lens position. Some people might prefer Leica lenses (I haven't reviewed them myself yet), but for the Zeiss to be bad, something must have gone wrong

May I add an explanation of why Clearview lenses are clearer and sharper than SmartLife lenses. I own Essilor's version of Clearview, though I forgot the name, but it has Essilor's stock lenses with sapphire coating. Clearview is tuned like the Vivid color setting on your television. It’s vivid, lively, and dynamic, but at the end of the day, I experience a lot of eyestrain because our eyes are immersed in such a vivid color environment. SmartLife, on the other hand, is like a TV set to either Standard or Comfort mode, which is less vivid, less dynamic, but precise and comfortable for the eyes. Clearer and sharper lenses are dynamic and lively, but they can be very tiring by the end of the day.
@Unentitled_sesh Жыл бұрын
The Zeiss website mentioned adding a duravision lens coating, but you said in this video that the clearview lenses come with duravision platinum as a standard. Why does the website mention adding that if it comes with the clearview lenses? Kinda confusing
