At the end, you mentioned Coach Wilbur Ross, who taught what he called, "Crucial-Points," consisting of, (as an example), sprinting the first 3 hurdles, followed by tempo-running in a void, by removing the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th hurdles, then finally sprinting over the last 3 hurdles.- Something like that. Coach Ross was something else. At the Penn's, he used to brag about coaching Renaldo and, HE "made him a better hurdler," but we all knew Coach Poquette was the one.

Min. 21:49... listen carefully how Coach P. gives a metaphor of life itself... "and you're not doing 300," (sets) "hurdles ANY OLD WAY... I mean, the minute ya start 'going bad'... you just STOP because then you're gonna just practice your ERRORS, ya know and what you'll do is, you become an EXPERT at the ERRORS and not at doing it the PROPER way." BRILLIANT!! I ran track at Linden High School, but during my times at Joseph E. Soehl Jr. High back in '80-'81 I had a coach in 9th grade, (his last name was Terrell and I wish I knew how to reach him to thank him) who taught me much like Renaldo's coach. and I HATED it!! But that dude had me running so much faster and it always felt like it was too easy to be so fast.
