I have the R1 and S1 and really like them a lot for steady long cruises. I doubt I'll ever run a road ultra but I like the concept of the MTC shoes. It's refreshing to not run in super high-stack plated shoes and still get comfort, protection, and an enjoyable ride. Have you tried them? Interested in knowing how the P1 compares to the R1 and S1.

@alexkhan2000 Thank you for watching the content and taking the time to comment. Having the P1s makes me really want to try the R1 and S1, which have sadly eluded me. I have run a road/trail 100km Ultra - I did a lot of my training in the P1s, longest run 50km all road, and they were brillant. You're spot on so nice not run in a carbon plated shoe

Alex, can you describe the stability in the R1 and the S1, and how they differ? Does either shoe feel unstable or have an unstable heel?
@alexkhan20003 ай бұрын
@@iakona23 They both feel quite stable without having any intrusive stability features but, then, stability has never been an issue for me as I'm light (5-7 or 167cm and 125 lbs or 57kg) and my gait is pretty neutral. I've never had stability issues with the Prime X Strung which is famous for being unstable. The platform geometry is wide on both (especially around the mid-foot) and the GOFLOW thing they have underneath and the TPU heel cage do make you feet feel very centered on the foot strikes and landings. The R1 feels a little more cushy and comfortable underfoot and the upper is definitely roomier. The S1 feels a little more snug and actually feels more nimble even though it's heavier than the R1. They both feel quite stable to me. I really like the smooth feel and ride of both of these shoes. They also maintain consistency over long distances although I haven't taken either beyond 15 miles yet. They don't bottom out and feel the same underfoot at mile 13 as they do on mile 1. I'm so impressed by both of these shoes that I'm considering the P1 although I don't really need the extra stability feature.

@@alexkhan2000 Thank you for that excellent analysis. really superb. I don’t think that I would have any trouble with any of the 4 shoes then. Let me ask you this. Are you seeing more wear on the outsole of the R1 compared to the S1? I tend to see wear in the front center and outer heel.

How's the fit on the P1? I'm in between sizes, so would like to know if I need to size up. Thx for the great review.

@dolladollarbill Thank you for watching and commenting 🙏 If you have a narrow foot, go true to size. Otherwise, size up. ❤️

Can you tell that you are running in a stability shoe, in terms of the heel feeling overly restrictive, or does it just feel like a neutral shoe which happens to have good stability? I have the New Balance 860v14, and it just feels like a neutral shoe with very good stability. The Saucony Guide 17 on the other hand is a stability shoe that feels very restrictive in the heel in its stability elements.

The heel feels supported/plush and not restricted. It's a stability shoe that is a great balance between support but also propulsion from a Peba midsole. I was taken aback by how good the P1 was.

@@TheStammerer-sn3qs Fantastic. I was trying to decide between R1 and S1, but I think I will choose P1 because I like neutral feeling shoes with good stability, and I hate soft shoes with unstable heels. Thank you so much for your review and for this reply. I would really like amount to Coast to send you all of their models so you could compare them.
