that toyota 60 series,,why doesnt it have floating axles.. ??..they all do in aus.. if axle brakes,,doesnt matter..plus, there supposed to break at the hub,,not half way in,,design..here toyota people think they last forever,, so they never service them, then the gearbox blows, lack of oil, drained into transfer.. axle leaves, bearing sht.. diesels only have 90kw.. excellent..

Love the sled idea and i feel cutting strap slots into "sled" would make it last longer rather than notches that can chunk off and if you strapped the axle up on the front axle opposite corner it would shift some weight of the sled cornner😂

For future reference, a longer log works better as there’s then way less torque on the straps and you can strap it up tight against the frame where it takes less abuse too as well as sliding over things easier. But whatever gets the job done, nice work boys 🤘🏼👍🏻

That's the bummer I've seen on Vancouver Island.. Mosaic owns so much of the forest there and has a ton of it gated or otherwise closed off. No idea if thats the land you were on for day 1 but it has definitely ruined a ton of public land there. Really blows.

Figured there would have been a different way to attach the spare to the hub somehow, even without power to that wheel, and balance better and be able to roll easier at least. Great vid, though. Cool ingenuity.
@dustywheeler6641
@dustywheeler6641 Жыл бұрын
I would have left the wheel and axle in place, taken the hi-lift apart and put the bar across the face of the wheel/tire, tied off to the slider and rear bumper. That keeps the wheel / axle from coming out of the housing and you can roll back to tarmac. Pretty common technique for a broken axle

I kinda had an idea but I don’t know if it’s smart or gonna work or not , but I thought about strapping the broken axle’s wheel to the other wheel tightly , the straps will keep rolling with the wheels without getting tangled and the broken axle’s wheel will remain strapped, useful and rolling , something to think about I guess

You had the right idea, wrong exection. You needed a log that could reach and rest on the top of the front axle. Strap or chain it down. the log needs to be long enough to fit under the rear axle. Rear axle above log, front axle beneath log. then you can strap the log anywhere its not touching ground to fasten in place. As you drive the log with grind down. then you replace it It saves your chains, straps etc. and the slope helps the vehicle glide over obstacles.
