One thing you guys didn't mention about the infotainment system - it works on my 16 Mini Clubman, so it probably works in the BMW as well. One of my uniquely favorite things about the car. The shortcut 1-6 buttons can be used for anything, not just radio stations. I have 1 and 2 set to my favorite radio stations. 3 is set to go straight the sports gauges. 4 is my tpms. 5 and 6 are set to nav home and work.

I had a loaner 2018 x1 and it has a "regular" turn signal. Another fun fact about BMW turn signals: Since the mid 90's, BMWs will always complete the flash even after toggling the indicator off. You'll never get a "half flash" like a lot of cars.

You guys continue to go the extra mile with detail with the added lighthearted touch to keep things fresh. I'm noticing that this X2 has a lot of characteristics of a hot hatch blended with those of a low to the ground crossover. The Specs are virtually the same as a GTI or a Focus ST. I took it on a BMW Autocross course in So Cal this past Sunday. I'm very impressed with it. I'm considering it as my next vehicle!

You've got it all wrong. BMWs come with turn signals standard and most people who drive them do use them. The trouble is, they emit a certain wavelength of light that poor people cannot see.

Btw, general rule of thumb for BMWs are that their even numbers, 2,4,6, are basically their coupes of the odd numbers, 1,3,5, with some slight exception to some models like the 1series range. The lane change signal is just like audi's, a tap makes it blink 3 times for fast lane switching. Going all the way makes it stay there and blink for proper turning.

The steering ‘stiffening’ package doesn’t just do that, it’s different, it’s called the servotronic steering wheel on options, comes with m-sport package and up standard. Basically all it does is make the steering wheel light at low speed for manoeuvrability and then at high speeds on motorway (70mph) it is stiffer for better stability.. basically a safety feature, but is more pleasant and satisfying, especially if you’re driving hard on a B road.

Also, late model Lexus vehicles have followed BMW regarding the turn signal stalk. My '15 GS350 Fsport has the same turn stalk behaviour. You get used to it after a bit, and you'll actually prefer it once you're used to it.

In Hyundais with memory seats to turn on the reverse tilt mirrors you keep the mirror adjuster in the middle position and to turn it off you put it in either left or right position.

I actually really like this X2, but what I'm wondering is if that rear visibility is as poor as it looks. The C-pillar is huge, and with a tiny, curved at the top back window and headrests is it good enough? Other than that, very well done BMW.

Fellas, the easy way to understand the nomenclature is the odd number is the conventionally designed SAV or Sedan. The even number is the sporty/coupe/convertible version of the odd number below. And, there is an X7 on the way.

Visor test, coffee cup test, satellite rewind test - all good. YOU NEED TO ADD IN THE REAR HEADREST TEST, if you can't move the rear headrests out of the way of the tiny little rear window = fail.

Not my type of car, but I enjoyed to see your review as usual. A moment of silence for the cam, RIP. The wireless Carplay is a nice feature (I think BMW are the only one with this feature) and you leave the phone on your pocket, but the bugs you describe is annoying since there's not a lot of people that using Wireless Carplay. That type of bug will not be resolved anytime soon. Apple needs to polish iOS 11, but this a other subject... Thanks again for the review.

Guys, really great work as always! If I may explain the BMW nomenclature. As you said, Xs are for SUVs. But the numbering goes like this. Odd numbers are for sedan or sedan like vehicles while even numbers are for coupes or coupe like SUVs. As an aside, it seems like some car manufacturers are trying very hard to sell cars calling them (sexy) coupes but I mean, come on, we’re getting really far from the definition here... Cheers!

DId you know that your X2 has the auto self parking feature? When you put the car in reverse when you see a parallel parking spot your back up screen has a few buttons on the left hand side of the screen; The top button, and this is why the touch screen is so cool, is the button for the auto self parking, you can click it and the car will park itself with instructions when to move back and forth without touching the steering wheel. I prefer the X1 as it has bigger windows and I prefer the cool silver trim accents all around the vehicle plus it has more features.

They didn’t change their shifter, the electronic toggle type one still lives on. This layout has been what they’ve used in their lower end SUV’s and the mini’s for a few years now. I worked for BMW for several years and I’ve come to find their electronic shift to be one of the most tolerable in the business.

That steering wheel thing is the only dislike I've ever had with driving position in a BMW. The fatter steering wheel worked a bit better for this. I love the half click turn signals, what I hate that most auto makers do is turn the DRLs off when the turn signal comes on, it looks horrible.

I'm not judging BMW for their quality of their interiors As I do believe the quality of ABM W interior is on par with Mercedes Benz or Audi etc, BUT their interiors in my opinion look out dated and old compared to Mercedes Benz and Audi because BMW has carried the same center counsel design since the late 80's or so. That's why when ever you hear BMW, Mercedes Benz and Audi in any comparison the BMW always comes and last when it comes to their interiors!

i got a rental bmw X1 for like a week ...and mann i love it...you sit high and the visibility is realll really good and thin A pillars. It didnt had the safety features but the interior is same as the X2 . and also the X1 only had 2 interior lighting (red and white). I think you guys should also check for rear fog lights. I love rear fog lights. They are soo helpful in bad weather. My Volvo s80 has it. I think you should it in every car you review so that car companies will start adding them..
