Modified by AMG, tuned by AMG, more features than a non-AMG, fantastic performance…but not a hand built engine means it’s not a real AMG. That’s like saying 5+0 = 0 it’s Jacob’s stupid bourgeoise math that still makes no sense. I understand that hand built AMG’s are even more special…I won’t deny that. But a Regular loaded GLC vs a GLC43 AMG is so staggeringly different, I don’t know how you can have that much performance, tuning, tuned engine and still be like…”NOT REAL”. It’s like saying AMG does nothing unless it hand-builds an engine. Nothing else matters…. 🙄🙄🙄 it’s broken logic. They are real AMG’s, but they aren’t hand built AMG’s and that’s probably a far better way to frame it vs, if it’s not built it’s not real…well then what the hell have I been driving? It sure as hell feels NOTHING like a non-AMG. And maybe that’s why this argument is even still alive? It’s because most people haven’t had the pleasure of driving non-AMG then a baby-AMG. It’s not like even driving the same the vehicle. Jacob always looks so disgusted and joyless when driving these supposed “not real AMG’s”, and it’s a totally illogical position to hold not matter how much though he has put into it. Again 5 + 0 doesn’t equal Zero Jacob. So just stop. It makes you sound spoiled.

It’s not their fault. It’s an extremely fucking boring car. All these benzs all look and drive the same. I don’t know why they still have stuff like c e or s classes as names, you might as well go a Benz dealer ship and order cars either asking for small, medium or large. Only benz’s worth being excited about is the gtr or the high end 63 models. Don’t get me wrong I’m not bashing the brand because they make great cars but if you’ve driven one you’ve driven them all. It has the AMG enhanced engine with EQ boost, AMG performance 4 matic plus all wheel drive, AMG Speedshift TCT 9 speed transmission, AMG Dynamic select, AMG drive unit, AMG sports suspension based on air body control, AMG Performance braking system, AMG 20 inch wheels, AMG performance steering wheel in Nappa leather and AMG sport exhaust system. I have the 2021 AMG E53 Sedan and I love it for the looks and the performance. I would pick the E53 for better performance and better gas mileage.

Honestly, I get it. It’s not them. It’s not the vibe. It’s the CAR. It’s something which can’t be understand until you spend time in this car. The E400 is so close to the E53 that the E400 maintains that smooth vibe that we all felt in The Straight Pipes review of the E400. The E53 is more jarring which walks away from the character of the vehicle. Yuri: you’re right that for the cost difference $11K is within the cone of reachability for most in the market for this model. However in the end, Jacob’s correct in his interpretation of the vehicle and the spirit... THE FEEL of the vehicle. Jacob: congratulations you are the winner of the video. The correct choice is the E400. Overall, great points raised by both as usual and the review was enjoyable to watch.

Here’s the deal, the 53 cars are badass for a midrange AMG. I wasn’t a fan on the 43, 45, 450 cars but these are what a midrange AMG should be. The turbo inline 6 with the electricity is as cool as it gets without a V8. I’ve owned two M156 cars and this would be the first mid tier AMG I’d be quite interested in purchasing. It’s a real amg in my opinion. Why? Because of what it brings to the table. That engine alone sounds more GTR/Supra than those cars do today. Those were midrange supercars when they were at their finest and that compliments this a lot, a mid range AMG. Well done

I've got a CLS 53 AMG. While it may not be a "real" AMG. I have to say it is far more drivable compared to the 63 or even the old Benz V8's. Great gas mileage and for city driving its fantastic and far more fun and usable to drive on almost 95% of the situations that you are going to drive in.

You know, I've always liked watching your guys' videos, cause it comes from a young persons' POV, and it seems like you'd be into what I'm into as well. And if you'd be so kind and accept a suggestion, it is knowing the demographics of people that are buying these cars. An average young person just wouldn't be buying this car, so to come from a young person's point of view, just doesn't really make sense. I'm actually looking at this video, cause I'm interested in planning ahead for my new car, and I think most people looking at this category, understands that the new Mercedes now have a middle ground. Where I don't want a full out 63, cause it's too harsh, and I just don't want to be daily driving such an extreme performance car, and that's where these 43 & 53 comes in where I can daily drive it. To non-stop bashing the fact that it's not a real AMG, don't think it's such a good idea. The 43 & 53, already implies that it's midway to 63, and also implies that it's more of the spirit of AMG, where I still get to enjoy the tunes of the exhaust and a little more performance than the 300 or 400. Just another perspective for you is to know your demographics of people that'd be looking at this review. If most people are just watching for entertainment, then, by all means, continue to do what you are doing. I just thought I'd drop a few lines. -Cheers

Inline Six is just a better engine than a V6 is many ways. Only problem is foot print size is difficult to fit in smaller cars. But if you have a big enough car it's the better choice. Pickup Trucks should be Big Turbo i6 PHEV. Lag would not exist if there is like 200kw of electric motors.

I have the 2018 E400 coupe and while i love it, the lack of a performance exhaust leaves something to be desired.. I will be upgrading to an E53 coupe in 2020 so hopefully it’s a tad bit better than the 19. I test drove the E53 and when I got into my car It was a bit depressing.

Very late to the comments here, but that just proves that TSP is achieving their goal of being the best repository for cars out there. Love it! I also love that Jakub didn't hide his opinion. So many reviews are all glowing, every time, and seem fearful of offending the manufacturers. Also, the balance of what you guys enjoy or don't enjoy in each car is what makes this the best show. This review is great for me. Still seemed like a very cool car for a segment that doesn't want the full amg dream car, and very compelling. Digging that 6 cyl exhaust note and body shape!

You both are right! The E400 was the perfect cruising coupe, but I'd never say no to more power and the AMG tuned exhaust. Black on black generally sucks on MB vehicles as opposed to the contrast interiors. Well done as usual!

I think its safe to say you like the lack of "B" Pillar...got it. For those in the audience that do not understand the "53" number designation perhaps you can touch on that more and how the change in the electrical system changes how power is delivered. You touched on it...ever so gently in the beginning and towards the end..thanks for the dashboard read out with the charge/power actions. Cheers!

Pretty unnecessary car. It exists only to cash in on appeal and exclusivity of the AMG brand. The long term affect is pretty much that no one will bat an eye seeing an “AMG” car anymore since practically every car will be AMG no matter what the specs

Ah yes, pillarless E-Class coupe with fully disappearing windows, that reminds me of...my '93 E-Class coupe! :D And don't forget the very important belt delivery system. I don't like the tall body lines of newer vehicles, it looks so bulky instead of sleek.

No B pillar is absolutely great looking BUT from a glass mechanics point of view it’s a “ wouldn’t buy it” due to inherent wind and water leaks over the years and the constant track adjustments trying to fix the wind and water leaks. There’s a reason manufacturers stopped doing the B pillar delete a long time ago.
