I feel like M1 garand Drill rifles are a lot easier to use. They are centered more towards the center, making it easier to spin. The Springfield model they have are weighed with the main weights in the butt of the rifle, making it unbalanced.

I became a drill team commander two years ago right before COVID. My freshman year there was no team except for one senior who was brigade staff, and nobody else was there. The year before him there was no team. Throughout COVID I bought my own drill rifle to practice and do whatever I could to learn, and now after my two and a half year journey working every day we have a full drill team that went to competition. Despite breaking both my wrists over COVID and having surgery to shorten my ulna and the screw protruding into my wrist locking against the bones in my hand and locking my range of motion so I could barely twist my wrist, was in a splint with no weight bearing activities until 4 days before comp, and 2 of my cadets leaving with no backups, we went to competition and did very well. Historically my school does horribly at drill, but since I've trained a full platoon, squad, two color guard teams, a drill team, and 4 individuals including myself this year alone, we've placed far higher than we ever have in decades. Watching these videos shows me the bar I want to set for myself and gets me through all the valleys and rough spots on my team. So far we have one cadet being actively abused by his parents, another deep in work, and another who split his upper lip open with a rifle and had to get stitches to patch a hole in his lip the day before comp, and a whole host of issues yet discovered. Every single one of my teams went through every hardship we possibly could have and yet we came out on top, and honestly I look forward to my next year, my final year of high school.
