amazing! but more important than your stethoscope is the snacks!!! :P ps i recently just learnt something about stethoscopes - they were invented by a french doctor who was too embarrassed to rest his ear on a woman's chest! AND THAT'S HOW WE HAVE STETHOSCOPES

That's absolutely true, and his name is Laennec ! The first stethoscope had of course a different shape than the ones we know today, it was a kind of cylinder you put on the back, and you can hear from the other side the crackles of your patient suffering from pneumonia, without having to break your own back :)

Hi Jamie! Great video; I'm a medical student in Peru, and the next year I'll be doing the internship, in my country it lasts one year and we have 4 clinical rotations (pediatrics, surgery, ob-gyn and internal medicine). My question is what's your opinion about wearing scrubs or white coat out of the hospital? Here is very common (mostly wearing scrubs than white coats), but I'm concern if that could be a little bit wrong; because you know hospitals have resistant microorganisms and maybe, we'd be spreading them. I appreciate your viewpoint, and if it's the same in USA? Thank you for sharing your experiences! It's very helpful and motivating!!!

3:07 "Slinky I.D. Badge Thing" instead of "Retractable Badge Holder". Doctor jargon. It reminds me of Buckaroo Banzai when he says to New Jersey during brain surgery, "No, no, no. Don't tug on that. You never know what it might be attached to." ^^

Like you, I definitely get dehydrated during shifts but can't do much about it as I'm already peeing so much from the caffeine intake and it's a bother haha. Any recommendations for portable savory snacks? I don't have much of a sweet tooth and biscuits usually get all crumbly in my bag,

Hello Jamie! I'm a medical student from Germany and I was wondering if you don't get any scrubs from the hospital? Here in Germany, we get our work clothes there because of hygiene. They get watched (not in all hospitals though) everyday and you can pick out a new pair of scrubs everyday. This goes for white coats also... but, like I said, not in all hospitals. But no one has to buy their own scrubs and no one gets changed at home. Besides that, your hospital seems suuuper modern with the work phone!! That's really handy, I think. Exciting :)
