I understand making this a studio channel video, but I think this could’ve been a main channel video 100%. Mariah is a natural host and this video had all the polish of a normal MKBHD production.
@xMaku18 ай бұрын
I thought the main channel already has a host. And this channel was created also because main chanel has only one host. What I want to say is that all other hosts of The Studio channel are also very good hosts.
@papermelon8 ай бұрын
The main channel is called MKBHD (Marques Brownlee) after…the guy. It’s exclusively for him to host, it has nothing to do with how polished the content is. This channel was literally created for hosts like Mariah. Your comment has good intent but makes absolutely no sense.
@tiednormal027 ай бұрын
Only Marques hosts on the main channel the channel is literally called Marques Brownlee, nobody else will host on that channel. That’s why the Studio channel was created.

I'm obviously biased here, but I struggle to see food/cooking automation becoming a mass market product for home cooks In the short term, I'd argue the biggest problems that most people who don't like/don't have time/lack the skills to cook could mostly be solved with better education. This is the area where we have decided to start and build a solution for. Then when it comes to something like the cooking robot from the tiktok videos, the physical act of cooking is just one pain point. Shopping, figuring out what to make and lifestyle constraints are other problems that are highly unique to the individual. I'd have questions around: - How much time is spent on prep? - How adaptable is it for raising and lower temps? Can it identity doneness? Browning? - What if I want to adjust the taste or am missing an ingredient? - Is the food that much better/lower cost than a high quality prepackaged or frozen meal? This is a super interesting topic and a great video. If you ever end up doing a follow-up where you test some products, maybe we could do a human vs. robot showdown!

As a retired executive chef, I find this fascinating. I think it’s an inevitability in chain style restaurants where style,creativity and intelligence are not required, but I don’t think Chef’s, freestanding restaurants and creativity will ever go away.

Some random ideas: (1) a series on tech which focuses on things that actually improve your quality of life - tech that makes you happy and improves your relationships (or where the absence of tech is good - tech you don't need) (2) a tech-for-introverts series - tech which helps you keep a low profile in your life but also helps bring you out of your shell every so often (3) tech for pet lovers series - make sure you include all the pets of the Studio crew on a regular basis and show their relationships with their pets to give us more of an insight into their real personalities. Basically do anything which let's you comfortably be you and shows off your lo-fi vibe!

The problem every device that handles food has is that you need to clean it pretty much after every use which is always more annoying than cleaning simple kitchen utensils. So unless an automated kitchen device can prepare meals for me that are so extraordinarily tasty that I could never prepare them myself, it’ll always be easier to just cook yourself and clean simple utensils.

The Brisk It is just a pellet smoker with a chat bot. Most other smokers that have wifi have many of those same features. That said, $999 isn't crazy either in the smoker world. You can get cheaper for sure, but you can also pay twice as much depending on how serious you are, material used, and size.
@Manganellia18 ай бұрын
We kept it short for that segment and it's definitely right along the price range of some other Wi-FI smokers that some people might trust the brand of more. I do think the chat bot takes it one step further for people newer to trying out smoking something and I hope that it can be tweaked a bit to cater to those people as well. One thing I was honestly surprised by was the build quality. I totally expected this to be the like bottom tier Home Depot build materials with AI being the selling point, but it's way sturdier and feels worth the price tag. One thing that Brisk It claims the Weber/Traeger doesn't have is the cooking graph which I actually think is such a nice thing for the app. I was a moron and had my notifications silenced one night and when I woke up my pellets were empty. Normally seeing your temps being down overnight you have to make the decision of tossing what you were cooking in case it's been in the danger zone for hours, but instead I opened up the cooking graph and saw that it had only been out for maybe 20 minutes and the internal temp was still a solid number so I could fire it back up without being worried.

There is no … soul in food prepared by robots
@bhumikpatel96028 ай бұрын
It's also true whenever u are not cooking
@VMYeahVN8 ай бұрын
There's no "soul" in food prepared by humans either, just greater variability in ingredients and preparation techniques or the ability to improvise that robots can't do yet. Those things are adaptability skills, intelligence, the human understanding of food chemistry outside of a beat for beat recipe, and product availability. Not "soul". I know everybody loves romanticizing the human ability, and that's great and all. But i personally prefer to give credit to the things that actually cause it. We aren't magical beings, that's actually what makes us great.

6:38 The funny thing about this kind of automation is that it automates the fun part and least technically demanding task* of cooking the final preparation and adding spices to taste, and not the tedious and more technically challenging part of cleaning and cutting and otherwise prepping the ingredients. Actually the two things I personally would want as an improvement in the kitchen is having onion cut (and I mean cut, not blended by a food processor) fresh but without the crying; and some kind of stove that allows me to sit in front of it comfortably (because my hyper mobile joints makes standing and stirring for long very painful) and without it being very dangerous somehow (because I could imagine having a heating hob on a table with my legs underneath would be pretty dangerous if I was also able to bump the pot and spill all over my lap; so this invention would have to somehow prevent me from being clumsy too). Though I could probably fix both problems without any high tech stuff at all; a fume hood with a good extractor fan would fix the onion tears; and a stove top on a bench and an insulated and waterproof apron and a barstool would fix the painful standing problem. (* unless of course your main issue with cooking is getting distracted and forgetting things on the stove; which I can appreciate as I have ADHD. But it's not a big issue for me because cooking is also an autistic special interest for me, so I actually quite rarely mess up things by forgetting and burning stuff.)

I know this was about cooking not baking and about something not super specific, but first thing that came to my mind was a bread machine. They have it down pretty well too just throw in the ingredients in an order. I think everything that's involved in cooking as well as the art of it is very complex to automate. So many things could go wrong: amount of spices, things staying dirty, it missing one spot that it's supposed to stir and it burns; Stirring to much so it doesn't cook. Many steps have to do with the smell or look of something and that could change depending on what it is. There is preference involved as well.
