Scarlett - animated short (Scarlett Contra el Cancer)

Scarlett is a short film depicting the inner struggle of a girl who lost a leg to Ewing Sarcoma, a bone cancer that occurs in mostly children. Amputation takes as much of an emotional toll as a physical one - especially for a child. We believe in the power of entertainment media to empower children through storytelling and role models. Visibility in media offers these children hope and a sense of belonging at a critical time where they may feel isolated by their medical condition.

I saw a story about a girl with a leg tumor who had to get part of her leg amputated. They reattached her foot, backwards, in place of her knee. She wears a prosthetic and is able to dance on pointe shoes. This reminded me of her.

guys my sister has the exact same type of cancer as the girl in this video and she doesn't stop her from her gymnastics as she is a gymnist she also has a prosthetic leg she has watched this video with me and she cried as she knows how it feels to have cancer we found out that she had cancer 2 years ago when she was 5 and we have all been by her side she was bullied for having her new leg don't bully people who are in these type of situations you don't know how they feel you don't know what it's like you don't realise they need your help really badly stop bullying the innocent stop bullying anyone

I had cancer, well I still do. I remember I first went to the hospital and they said I had cancer, I was so upset I cried and cried, till someone in the room next to me at the hospital told me something heartwarming. He told me “don’t give up, just because you have cancer doesn’t mean your not pretty, you can’t do anything, you can’t believe, and be happy, you should be happy to who you are, no one can tell you otherwise.” And after that I felt better at myself, I spent almost 2 years in hospital with cancer and every single time I went to chemo or took medicine I thought of him, he had told me he had bad blood cells in his leg, which meant I think he had to have it amputated. I never forgot him or his words and every time I felt bad I kept believing. Now I’m almost cancer free! But still have 6 months of chemo left, my heart was warm and felt better just for his kind words

My friend started coughing up blood the other day, but I told her that life isn't long enough to only have problems. So one day I decided to stay at the hospital at night, when it was around 1:00am, she woke me up.. By slightly grabbing my hand. She was coughing more and more blood, and her chest was covered in chunky-type blood. I told her I'll go get the nurse, which is what I did.. Uh- The nurse followed me.. but.. my friend (her name WAS Amella) looked up at me, and said to me very slowly "Sienna, one day you'll be commenting or telling some stranger about me.. But- Remind them.." she was coughing blood as she spoke, so it was hard to understand. The nurses and doctors told me to go outside, and I heard her crying. I heard her say a few words. The doctor came out crying in grief. "Your friend, Amella.. she told me to tell you that: 'life isn't long enough to only have problems'.." he told me, walking down with her dead; on the bed. I began to cry, and ran down to the bus station as fast as I could to catch a bus home straight away.. My mom understood, and took care of me after all the tragedy. The doctor was the last to ever say her name... I love you, Amella. R.I.P. Best friends, we were cx I'm sorry it wasn't too detailed, but t was at-least 3 years ago, so this was as much as I could remember.

I knew someone who had cancer he went to school for pretty often in the beginning and was fine... But he stopped going to school and only went to school about once a week but all the times he was absent he would be excused so u knew he must be sick or something... One day he came to school with his parents and was visiting. I was absent that day my teacher told me he visited. I wondered why he didn't just come to school. The day after he visited he died of cancer and I never got to say goodbye. He was my best friend... But he would never tell me why he missed school so much. This means so much to me, when I was 12 when I was dancing I dislocated my hip and it cut my cartilage. I stoped taking dance classes for a long time because everyone told me I would never become the dancer I wanted to be and that I would have to do physical therapy for the rest of my life. I was non-stop coughing up fluid 24/7 throwing up, couldn't taste food, dizzy, couldn't breath, or talk at times, coughing up blood, nose bleeds, stomach problems, bowel problems, I was bleeding a lot from my vagina, couldn't even lay down because it made me cough more and I couldn't sleep because of that, as well I couldn't even drink water or other drinks with out throwing up, I was also hallucinating!! which was crazy. I had to go to the hospital multiple times and get antibiotics because both of my lungs were fluid. It was one of the darkest times in my life when I though I wouldn't live, But I thank God It's finally Over!!! This video is really inspirational though ✌️

What speaks to me most is the ways I find symbolism in this video. What if the red represented the world's boundaries/ expectations and the blue was what they should see, sometimes the expectations seem to be all that's left to do when all you need is that one push in the right direction to make a difference and break boundaries/ expectations because really life is much more than that. Think of a baby learning to walk are they going to fall down ,of course but the real question is if they will get back up or give up. My message to you is that you never stop trying to break away from what the world says and make a difference even if it's small, with every life there is a change and with every change a better tomorrow though the world may still be fighting know that you brought an end to some of it. You are greater than an expectation or boundary you are a change waiting to happen and when you do make the change it will be greater than anyone can imagine. Will you change or quit trying?

I am sorry for your loss. It's horrible. My mom died from cancer too. Time makes it better, but I have found that remembering her, even though it is sad, has made all the difference. Everything she has taught you and all the memories you have of her will live on with you. She's never really gone as you have past experience with her and if she is your biological mother then half of you is her. I hope you are feeling even the slightest bit better now and don't forget that friends and family can help you through this rough time too. Maybe not even with talking through feelings but just being around and having fun with people you love. Sorry for the super long paragraph. Anyway, I hope you have a nice day!
