THE STUPENDIUM 1,000,000 SUBSCRIBER STUPENDI-COIN IS NOW AVAILABLE… AGAIN! bit.ly/StupendiCoin Pre-orders are open for the next two weeks only! They close March 9th! Which is a Saturday. Not a Friday like the video says. Because I am stupid. LYRICS: VERSE 1: Way back in twenty-sixteen I went and penned a ditty About the rapper I was clearly just pretending to be But I think I’ve been improving pretty evidently And there’s a million people out there who would tend to agree Now who am I to attest that I am really clearly the best at rhymes? Will I be left behind or stand the test of time? Success predestined? We’ve yet to find Though far be it from me to come and claim superiority My vids that hit the milly are quite plainly a majority Oh honestly, did you not check my policy? I always rap in character and hardly ever drop as me Historically, you probably first heard memes on TikTok of me Extolling on the horrors of a corporate economy So, if you sit back and have a listen, let me have a moment I truly haven’t had a minute yet to have a go at Doing that cool rapper bit and penning bars and flows just Supercalifragilisticexpibraggadocious Negotious, verbosity velocious In quality? Ambrosious - thesaurus adiposis I may not be an A-lister but I’m still on a list of Rappers who get paid, so I must make pretty dope s**t Mitosis and Moses could never split opinions so well Like mitochondria, I’m the powerhouse of the sell Defined a genre decrying those with mountains of wealth And then made millions on the million of you sounding my bell CHORUS: You’re listening to the missive of an adequate wordsmith But because they’re insecure they felt they had to confirm it So, if you’re a bit indifferent you clicked the track Here’s a few more minutes you won’t get back VERSE 2: Am I a rap god? No! But I’m surely in the rap clergy Spitting like confession in the booth when I rap nerdy Father, forgive me I have syn-co-pa-ted Beat’s off but they’ll never make their tracks dirty Rocked up to the strip with my duds all glistening Got more drip than octuplet christenings Guttering ripped and it’s thundering, drizzling One gets dipped, every youngster’s dribbling Pack more paper than Dunder Mifflin Bars so hard that my puns need chiselling The ladies, the gays and theys wanna play But mum’s here visiting Spit so hot I gotta keep my verses in urns Other rappers green with envy - call it Verdigris burns Though, perhaps maybe I’m milking it where words are concerned My bars are buttery smooth because they’re perfectly churned My similes and metaphors are intricately clever - yours are lacking, rhymes are flagging like you’ve written them in semaphore I’m chilling on the beach, you’re adrift and yet to get to shore You never made the sales, so I think you’ll have to peddle more WHISTLE BREAK: Yeah, I’m doing a whistle break What are you gonna do about it? Just wanted something to space things out before the bridge starts Oh, here we go… BRIDGE: All these years chasing meaningless numbers Hoping to flee from this feeling of numbness Trying to drown all my doubts and my fears in the light of acclaim For eternity now my self-worth has been tied To the number of characters you have to type Into KZbin before it can guess you are writing my name Was it worth all the work and the stress and the pain? All the worries that lurk and obsess in my brain? All the nights without sleep, all the fatigue and tired All the ungodly gallons of caffeine required (I could go find a nine to five Be bored but maybe I’d survive More than another year before I fall apart So hard to comprehend that I’ve Felt dead whilst feeling so alive I love my work but hate the fact it claimed my art In every video I strive To leave a piece of me inside How many pieces can I find?) My self-image anxieties I haven’t resolved And the endless offensive of admin involved The unwinnable game of just trying to keep To an algorithm changing its mind every week All the months spent in crunch penning verses and rhyme To complete dissolution of personal time I make songs about games but the irony’s clear That I’ve not actually played one for fun now in years All the torturous exhaustion contorted and mixed With the knowledge my job could be instantly nixed Google could, should they want, kill me off with a click Now I’m here at the top, was it worth all of this? Yeah Yeah, actually, it was I’m in a Lamborghini I can’t even drive! CHORUS: You’re listening to the missive of an adequate wordsmith Though their need to sound impressive is quite frankly absurdist So, if you’re a bit indifferent you clicked the track Here’s a few more minutes you won’t get back VERSE 3: You know I put the sauce in the cans like I’m Heinz beans New resolution to command your entire screen Won’t take a rest - improvising a line spree Drop off the cuff and escape from the crime scene Foes all flake when they’re faced with my rhyme schemes Ninety-nine problems, yeah, my van’s out of ice creams Flows got you froze as you stand in my high-beams Struggling to take it all in - size queen Linguistically I get them in hysterics The folks who write the dictionary are referencing my lyrics Pork-manteaus go ham, pen indelibly-soteric Yeah, I built my own brand, but I’ll never be generic I'm the godfather of verse I write lines that are quite hard to traverse I slay that They/Them mayhem every day And I’m just starting the hearse ‘Cause it’s your funeral, baby You can hate me, but I can’t be deterred Yours are marginally worse than the bars I’ve rehearsed Come and spar with a nerd, watch your ass get interred This vid has got you thinking I’ve a life of lavish luxury Assisted by the fact it’s done entirely tax deductibly That’s why I could quite comfortably still find the cash to budget these Impressive looking stacks of totally artificial currency I can’t believe I do this as a job And I’m so insanely grateful for the view here at the top Though I’m afraid that I forgot to pack a hat to doff So, after all these years I’ve still no way to cap it off CHORUS: You’re listening to the missive of an adequate wordsmith I got Wilde self-importance if I have to be Ernest So, if you’re a bit indifferent you clicked the track Here’s a few more minutes you won’t get back More imperviously wordy than a Catholic service I’m delivering prime rhymes like an Amazon purchase Spit squeaky clean like I snack on detergent Got the beets in the bag, you’re a satchel of turnips Lyrical flips? I pack a spatula permit And I’m wiping out foes like a laminate surface Endless bags to the Banks, yeah I’m practically perfect This Lambo was a rental and I have to return it… I’ve a bunch of fine rhymes that you haven’t all heard yet And I really didn’t want to end the track with a surplus Like mechanical Kermit with a hand up his circuits An incredible rhyme that really hasn’t a purpose I’m on so many levels need my landings refurbished Now I’m wondering if this ending bit was actually worth it ‘Cause should they develop extra ends to candles I’d burn it Do you think they’ll notice if I reuse adequate wordsmith? OUTRO: One million subscribers Wow! Thank you so much I’m gonna regret doing this here Because it means I’ll have to lip sync it in the video Which will be a nightmare But I’m doing it for you ‘Cause I love you I’ll see you at two million I guess? I mean, probably before then but you get what I mean (They won’t notice if I keep repeating adequate wordsmith ‘Cause I’m talking whilst I’m just repeating adequate wordsmith It’s impractical to write more rhymes for adequate wordsmith ‘Cause we’re fading out as I’m repeating adequate wordsmith Yeah, we’re fading out as I’m repeating adequate wordsmith We’re fading out as I’m repeating adequate wordsmith Still fading out as I’m repeating adequate wordsmith This in no way undermines my skills as ‘adequate wordsmith’) Oh, oh… We didn’t do a fade-out did we?

@@thewas9971verdigris is a shade of green (from the French Vert-de-Grece, or Greek Green) that’s the shade of old copper (think Statue of Liberty). 3:30 - oh, this breaks my heart. Listen friendo, pick a game a lot of people like, take a few days off from your standard schedule, and play it. Announce beforehand that you're doing it, and aren't going to make any content out of it, so we can call you out for it if you do. This one's STRICTLY for you, you're not even allowed to stream it. You can TALK about it after you finish it (or decide you're done if you don't like it enough to finish or it isn't something with a firm end point), and if you get inspired and REALLY want to, you can START on a song about it, let's say... 6 months later. Paradoxical as it seems, of all the things you could do next this is what would make me, at least, the most happy, but I strongly suspect I speak for a lot of other people too. (The like count on this comment will tell the tale there, I suppose - if it does get a lot, that's your cue to do it for us, if not for yourself.)

The effort put into Stupes’ lyrics never ceases to amaze me. “Syncopated” is syncopated. There are several well-woven references to previous tracks. There’s a metric ton of assonance, consonance, and alliteration. And to top it all off they somehow found 19 entire rhymes for “Wordsmith” when I legitimately can’t think of a single one. Shamelessly using 2 dollars hoping it will get your attention because this comment feels important If the feelings of hollowness expressed in the bridge are genuine, just know that you're officially in the big leagues of youtube, as if you weren't already. You have a million subs and regularly pull millions of views. Some of your videos are cultural milestones by KZbin standards. "Fine Print" became a meme spread around by people who haven't even heard of you, and that song was about a game that 60% of people who listened to it still don't know exists. And plus, you're a musician. Your content comes out at irregular intervals anyways. And when you post, people are liable to share the music with pretty much anyone they think might like the song, whether they're a fan of yours or just happened to come across it because they liked the game. Music is a lot of work, I'm not downplaying that, but if you took a week off every month for personal time nobody would even notice outside of the people you're directly working with. KZbin is a dangerous game, but you've officially won. So long as you don't go Cosby on us, you're pretty safe from randomly getting shoved into irrelevancy by the whims of a capricious god. You put in a hell of a lot of work to get here, Stupes. It'd be a shame not to benefit from the security when mental health is on the line. Here's 2 dollars.

As someone whos nonbinary and isn't having their pronouns respected. I admire you for pushing your pronouns and showing you AREN'T comfortable with masc pronouns, it means a lot and it's admirable you don't succumb to just dealing with he/him :D I hope I can get that confidence someday with folk ^^ BTW The song is GREAT so much better than what I thought!!! Keep up the good work, your work on lyrics and music are incredible, proud of you!!!

As someone who typically possesses the girthiest and most evocacious lexical prowess amongst friends and colleagues, it's refreshing and absolutely awesome to have content that regularly makes me go, "I don't know that word." SEVERAL TIMES IN A ROW. You are, unironically and sincerely, one of my writing heroes. That aside, I may've just rambled for five minutes solid to my roommate about how stupendous (see what I did there? :D) this video is. Love it, love it, love it.

After a month of absentmindedly listening, I'm finally taking the time to examine the video as a whole and - oh my god? This is absolutely insane! The subtle lyrics during the solemn part, so many little puns and twists spanning occasionally an entire verse, "hyperbole" appearing in a manner like the other definitions... I didn't even know ninety-nine was a type of ice cream, but when I saw the "99 problems, yeah my van's out of ice cream" I went to google it because I knew that it was probably something when with other artists I'd more likely have just brushed it off as a weird line. The quality is off the charts with this one!
@jelllllllllllll9 ай бұрын
I went to write this comment after the ice cream thing, but I'm returning after barely a line later with "pork-monteaus go ham." This has got to be some sort of world record.

It's a silly thing, but as someone who's lived in Vegas their whole life, I appreciated that you didn't keep all your shots on the Strip. Getting the Neon Museum and a bit of the mountains around us was a cool add. Though I do get why the glitz gets the spotlight, it's nice to see the rest. Cheers to your well-earned success, and here's to more of it in the future!

Well, you didn't reply back then but it does kinda feel like I got my answer in this song anyway. And, yeah, you do seem to acknowledge your talent and give yourself the credit you deserve with the occasional pat on the shoulder... I was smiling all the way throughout this. So many clever lines that need overanalysing to see all you managed to slip by us. How can people not name Stupes as one of the cleverest rappers who doesn't resort to "popular rap lyrics"? They are lyrically at the top and execution-wise as well. Oh well, back to replaying this to see what I missed and to listen closely to the background lyrics. Thanks Stupes.

references i found 0:56 "oh honestly, did you not check my policy" references The Fine Print obviously 1:00 "historically you probably first heard memes on tiktok of me extolling on the horrors of a corporate economy" references The Fine Print blowing up on tiktok 1:26 "shit" references Amateur Wordsmith because i think it's the only other stupes song with a swear word ever which was also the word shit 1:43 4:03 5:17 "so if you're a bit indifferent, you clicked the track, here's a few more minutes you won't get back" references Amateur Wordsmith with very similar lyrics 2:14 "verdigris burns" references Room For Improvement's lyric "third degree verdigris" 2:16 "though perhaps maybe i'm milking it where words are concerned, my bars are buttery smooth because they're perfectly churned" references Ad Infinitum's "milk the humans of their kindness then there's butter to be churned" and they even used the exact same body language complete with the forward lean after 4:13 is the Amateur Wordsmith music video there's probably more

"Am I a rap god? No! But I'm surely in the rap clergy, spitting like confession in the booth when I rap nerdy. Father forgive me I have syn-co-pa-ted" got me for some reason. And it just escalates... "Though I'm afraid that I forgot to pack a hat to doff, so after all these years I've still no way to cap it off" In a way it's a great showcase of how far this has gone, rapping and writing improves, but the core of it, the whole self-depreciating humour and shared wink it's a bit silly is the reason I watch these, compared to the "classic" rappers showing off and taking themselves seriously when the closest they get to "gangster" is the areas they avoid while driving to the next shoot. So doubts about how hard it is to find time for yourself aside (which I acknowledge is a challenge with the algorithm being produce or perish making time off to enjoy things risky) you *have* come a long way, and the subscribers and patrons are because you're *good* at this, and put work into it.

1 mil is an amazing goal that you have hit, but I have one statement... YOU DESERVE MOREEEEEE!!!!! So, another thing, my friends used to complain about your British qualities, and when they do that to me (a brit), I just brushed it off cause they just joke about it saying I speak gibberish when I talk in my native tounge, but when they complained about you, a switch flipped in me. I was like: "TAKE THAT BACK NOW YOU SACK OF -intense screaming and insults plus a lecture on why you are my favourite song writer- and now you know why I cant shut up about them." They still said that you weren't impressive, so after screaming for another hour, I showed them like 16 of your greatest hits and since they heard this and AD INFINITUM and by the end of it they were speechless because of your talent. They just went back to the PS5 without a word and every song they requested was one of yours. (COMPLETELY deserved, btw). Also, congrats! (Holy shart thats a whole ass novel-)
