I really think you should use a clip on light on your back or something reflective to make yourself more visible to car traffic. Even just some stick on reflector pads on the back of your skates and helmet would make you much more visible.

@@360.Tapestry we all have our comfort levels. I ride my TT bike through traffic of all shapes, sizes, and speeds all the time but I've got multiple flashing lights and reflectors on me and I'm wearing ridiculously bright and clownlike cycling kit. @@Mark-bw1wx amusingly, people tend to be surprised when I tell them how few sessions I’ve had on my new skates. I think years of motion-sports stuff has made it so I have a lot of the balance and comfort with momentum to adapt quickly to it. The good news it doesn’t really matter how good I am. It’s fun to do, and that’s all I need.

That as a skater ('blader) myself I know that it's all subjective and who cares what kind of crazy sh*t you can do even though crazy sh*t is.....well.....crazy sh*t! Yeah, I sure wish I had put in a lot more hours because I know the more hours you put in, the more crazy sh*t you can do, but at the end of the day it's really a flow thing. Probably better just to skate as fast as you can and be as agile as possible like he is. It's New York City. Your average New York City taxi driver isn't going to care whether you have a little light on you or not. They're just going to try to cut you off to pick up that fare on the corner 💰💰💰👍

I was born in New York and lived there for 35 years. I know a lot about NYC and NYC cab drivers. Got hit twice in my life by them while riding my bike in the city in broad daylight. They saw me just fine. They're always racing to pick up that fare on the next street corner to make their 💰 and if you're in the way, I hope your "reflector" will save you but....prolly not. Btw, the second cab driver that hit me when I was a teenager took off afterwards. But at least if you're a good skater, which Ari obviously is, you can skate fast enough and skillfully enough to outwit the money-grubbing cabbies.. And it's not the "tourist drivers" you have to worry about ....most tourists don't bring their cars into the city anyway. They find other ways to get into this city and then.... they take....*gulp* ...TAXIS! 👍

@@Mark-bw1wx 🤷‍♀️ it’s just weird that you keep rebutting my point like I’m saying skate well _or_ wear a reflective bands. Really hard to argue that it’s useless at night - wouldn’t expect that pov from a cyclist. But I’ll concede that being a strong skater is critical either way.

Thanks for allowing us to skate with you again! BTW, been looking at the helmets that the skate land crowd uses. Your helmet shells are ok. But you typically use an EPS that is too dense and hard with an extremely thin cushion layer. Not sure why. The helmet shell will protect you from very slow impacts. But anything else...not that great. Don't see how that EPS will offer much protection if at all. The impact just gets translated instead of absorbed by the EPS layer.
