Hi. I’m 16 and trying to learn women’s traditional through videos since my mom doesn’t know how. I was hoping someone who does know can teach me a few things. Like what’s good and what you’re not supposed to do when dancing. What you’re supposed to do. Just the main things I would need to know. I’m from Oregon if that somewhat means anything.

Hi, same here. I’m 33 and want to dance pow wow - jingle dance. My relatives on my fathers side dance in pow wow but we live so far apart for me to learn from them. Hang in there and don’t give up trying :)

Hi, I know you posted this video several years ago but I just want to thank you for posting it. Two of my great-grandmothers survived residential schools and, though they survived, the connection to their cultures died. I would not be who I am if they, their mothers, their grandmothers, and on back through the generations were not my ancestors. My cousin and I are trying to honor their strength by reconnecting with our heritage, and when I dance I can feel my great-grandmothers with me. Thank you so, so much for giving me the gift of that.

Y'all, my toddler and I love these videos! We dance along all the time and my toddler has this music in his soul! He loves to shout along with the music. I'm not native but my uncles are from cowlitz and my husband's gma was a native woman. I wish his great gma could see him, she would love this I'm sure. Lovely little lady, my husband's gma, who passed on a few years before my son decided to make his appearance. They never got to be on the physical world together but I'm sure she sees him dancing and hooting up a storm! I hope all his ancestors on both sides are dancing along with him ❤️ Heehee! Thank you for these videos, I know they were made quite a while ago but I hope y'all see this and know people out here are still vibing with ya ❤️ you bring us joy daily. You all look amazing in your regalia by the way!

That's right. Me and my kids are native and a quarter white. We still dance. We get some dirty looks by some. But by most we get a pat on the back or a hug welcoming us into their circle. If you honor our ways. And beliefs you will ways be welcome.

The man I work for has been participating in Powwows for half a century, and sometimes people actually forget that he's white. I grew up in a place where Native things were all historical, not current - rich cultures relegated to 1/2 a chapter in textbooks. When I moved out west (I'm kind of embarrassed to say this... sheltered white country girl...), it took me several months working in retail to get used to the idea that these people are still around, part of the society that I was used to, but also ones I had only ever read about, or seen (poorly adapted) in movies. Now, the more I learn, the more I want to participate as well. Now if I could just get my knees to agree with me... XD

As a non- native, I really enjoy your videos. I was wondering if it is ok for a non- native to perform your Pow Wow Sweat videos. I would not want to be disrespectful of your cultural heritage and perform them when I shouldn't.

At the Grand entry, during an inter-tribal,when you tire, you are disabled or you are an elder. The man, a US Marine Corps Viet Nam war veteran, is dancing men's traditional flat footed style. Look closely and you can easily see the difference between men's and women's traditional.
