WE SHALL REMAIN was created to address the effects of historical trauma in our tribal communities. Many times, these untended wounds are at the core of much of the self-inflicted pain experienced in Native America. Much like fire, this pain can either be devastatingly destructive or wisely harnessed to become fuel that helps us to rise up and move forward in life with joy, purpose and dignity.

My Mom started life in a shack. Uncles would drink or if they didn't have any money they would inhale gasoline fumes. I started down that path as a young man, but no more. I've been sober for years and now I lead others.

“Upon suffering beyond suffering; the Red Nation shall rise again and it shall be a blessing for a sick world. A world filled with broken promises, selfishness and separations. A world longing for light again. I see a time of seven generations when all the colors of mankind will gather under the sacred Tree of Life and the whole Earth will become one circle again. In that day there will be those among the Lakota who will carry knowledge and understanding of unity among all living things, and the young white ones will come to those of my people and ask for this wisdom. I salute the light within your eyes where the whole universe dwells. For when you are at that center within you and I am that place within me, we shall be as one." -Crazy Horse

So powerful because its all based on real emotions and suffering. So many natives on the entire continent suffer from the same/similar history. It's good more and more non-natives are starting to learn more of what really happened, the things that were not taught in schools. Thanks to the internet, silence and censorship is now impossible.

I am not full Native, I am a detribilized "mestiza" Mexican. I feel so much for my Indigenous ancestors, the trauma of many forms. I feel for the Native people of Turtle Island. I hope your cultures heal and I can feel it is- painful yet hopeful through language learning, to traditions, and support. I really hope this entire continent's Native people gets to heal from mind, body, and spirirt. Much love, from a Mexican sister

Wow this is so powerful. You have to watch it. I relate to this. Waking up and I couldn't find my mom or she was passed out on the floor. Getting up early to make my siblings breakfast because she couldn't. Letting my siblings know we are okay we have each other. I''l never forget the last time the cops would take me from my home and my mom. I knew it was the last time. I woke up to a cop carrying me outside of my house and putting my siblings and I into the back of his car. It was hazy because I was just waking up but I remember seeing yellow tape all around my house and lots of cop car lights. I''l never let my past get the best of me. I am learning to forgive her. I'll never give up on my dreams or desires. Like I said before I am a Lakota, I will succeed or die trying.

This video is so profoundly inspiring! As a Black woman, I understand the battle to heal the wounds of historical traumas and the legacy that remains. We need videos like this to counter all the negative images that surround us and tell us that we are inferior. Please continue to produce art like this, as it helps to heal not only Native Americans, but others who have suffered as well. Thank you again.

My maternal grandmothers' parents were Chotah and Numunuu. But I'm pure native in my heart. Tragically mother nature has been contaminated by toxic wastes. But she listens to our hearts and keeps strong knowing we will ultimately return her to her throne and good health. Despite the arrogance of the people in power, I can still feel the power of the ancient tribes and salute your beautiful song message. Just loved it❤️

My Grandma born in 1901 was taken from what was left of Family, taught to forever be ashamed. To fear her skin getting dark, what was done to a Native woman in the very early 1900 was inhuman. Now I am proud to even have her original land grant. I wish she had been happier about who she and we are. Very little of the Muskogee Creek nation was left after the Trail of Tears....but that was the point right? How nice to be given blankets infected with small pox. I wish they’d actually teach true American history

I'm 17, from Slovakia and ever since I can remember I've always been fascinated by this culture and its traditions using Mother Earth to heal. The mentality of selflessness and love for nature. We should all learn something from these beautiful people for they have so much to offer. I'm deeply upset about what happened to your people. It angers me that innocent and beautiful people had to die. I visited some reservations in the past and it truly brought me to tears to see how you live, like outcasts, when your beautiful land was stolen from you and now morbidly obese people on shopping carts trail though massive walmarts. In times where global warming, mass production and huge amounts of waste are produced very year we all need to stop and realize that the way you lived was harmless to the earth and that you where a treasure that we coldly destroyed. You are important. I hope that one day, the next president of the us will do everything in their power to change your lives for ever and for the better. Because no apology will ever suffice what you have been through - Terka x

As a white person, this is somewhat hard, but mostly very joyful to watch. I can't change the past, but I definitely am not willing to repeat it. My family just went to the Paiute Pow Wow (Utah). Best part was seeing my kids make friends with other's kids. They didn't care about skin, etc and had as much fun as with any other kids. We're all just people. I very much enjoyed hearing your history and encouragement. Keep working for it and it will happen. Thanks so much for the excellent video. Well done!

I love this. I posted it on my Facebook page about five years ago and I’m posting it again today because I believe the pendulum is swinging back towards the positive pretty soon in this country. All races together in the spirit of true movement of equality. The majority wants this and we can’t let the 33% hold us back any more. Here’s hoping for a better 2021😀👍

This was beautiful and awakened deep emotions within me. I had tears well up and I tried to choke them away. Then I felt the warrior strength within the message: Spirit help me to be the best I can be--- It gave me a sense of Hope. Beautiful -- stirring-- emotional--- enlightening! Marge & Cliff Borchert
