I highly doubt they would do this, but imagine if they changed up sonic and Amy’s roles a little bit in the movie universe. Amy could match her more modern persona of being an adventurous hero who wants to help everyone, and because sonic is far more emotional in the movie continuity, he could fall hard for her but be too shy to admit it

Nah, it could work. Cause then every wild and amazing thing he manages to accomplish in the beginning could be the way he tries to get her attention, instead of just talking to her like a normal person, and then they could make Amy seem very unimpressed by everything Sonic's doing to get her attention until some pivotal moment in the movie where the dam breaks and you find out that she was smitten with him from day 1, and she noticed every awesome thing he did showing off, every silly, clumsy yet endearing thing that happened when he thought she wasn't watching, and his intensity when he gets serious. It would be fun to watch
