Honestly the biggest problem with bfv was the marketing, if they just came out and said "yeah the game is not a realistic depiction of the war" i feel like a lot less people would've been mad, but they just doubled down

Well I'd say the game has a bit of identity crisis in general. A lot of it is very grounded, authentic and gruesome. But then you have all the whacky cosmetics. I still love the game, though. Core gameplay is fantastic

Tbh Japanese women would have picked up arms in a defense against the home islands. I mean look at the suicide statistics on Okinawa. Civilians killed themselves instead of letting the US capture them. In terms of a fight to the last body that could 100% have happened. Also there were female Soviet snipers and pilots and many of them were very good

@@chrisheckel3887 I mentioned both of your points in my first comment; There were plenty of women involved in the war (though seeing them in direct combat was relatively rare in the grand scheme of the conflict), I was just saying that they picked a strange faction for "female representation" lol. Besides that though, the in-game female Japanese soldiers aren't portrayed as homeland militia units or anything like that, but as straight up IJA infantry, which would basically never be allowed to happen at this point in history. It's a small complaint since BFV is already pretty notorious for being woke as hell, but I just thought it was funny. Edit: Okay actually, in fairness, my original comment does somewhat downplay it with phrasing like "a few women," and yes, there were civilian women who resisted the American invasion of Okinawa. I can see how you'd think I was being ignorant or disingenuous.
