A small subdivision was built near me. Also near me is a hog farm. When the wind blows a certain direction we get a “nice” aroma from said farm. I never was concerned since I was raised on a farm and it’s part of farm life. However the folks in the new subdivision are furious and are trying to shut the farm down!

Horses shouldnt be on the road anyway. The concrete is bad for their legs, they dont pay road tax, they shit everywhere and the riders dont EVER pick it up, they stall traffic who HAVE paid for the road and it very often causes issues like this because horses panic and their owners are snooty and up their own arses. It should be private land only. And if you cant afford or dont have access to private land, then you cant afford a horse. I've ridden 2 stroke dirt bikes my whole life. Never crashed, never hit anyone, never damaged anyone's property, my bike has never freaked out and kicked someone for walking past etc and I've had an absolute bastard sometimes trying to find private land I can actually ride on because you're not allowed them on the road.

Vehicles are taxed upon first registration or import and subsequently each year as Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) levied according to CO2 emissions with exemptions for disabled users and agricultural vehicles. If horses were liable for VED they would be classed as Band A for 0 g/km CO2 emission and would be rated at £0.

I grew up riding horses, and if you can't control your horse DON'T RIDE THAT HORSE ALONG A ROAD! Also, if you're new to riding, don't buy yourself a pretty horse! Instead, buy yourself a horse that has been there, done that, and is unimpressed by everything and short of an attack by wolves or a pack of dogs, won't spook for anything. Work up from there with your riding mounts as you gain confidence and ability.

I meet people on horses on rural Irish roads very often and without fail, they are super grateful that you slowed to let them pass, they give a wave and a smile and often a thank you too. I don't know what this woman in the video was about, just some entitled arsehole I guess. Plenty of those in cars, on bikes and walking dogs too. In fact, I work with a few of them :)

Very true. A few years ago on a Friday night I was rowing up Haylage on a Friday evening when I had a breakdown. I needed a part welded & rang my son who was working 7 miles away. As I was driving to where he was on a narrow road I came up behind 4 female cyclists riding 4 abreast & filling the road. After driving quietly behind them for about a quarter of a mile I gave the horn a quick beep. Two of them turned round & gave me dirty looks but they pulled over into single file & I ambled past. As I drew alongside one of them gave me the V sign. I drove on a bit & then stopped. When they came up I said “I appreciate you’re in leisure mode ladies but some of us out here in the countryside are working”. The one who’d given me the fingers said “What fool is working at this time on a Friday night?” I replied “Just the fools who are producing your food” She was a bit red faced & apologised. They others laughed at her. Hopefully a lesson learnt.

The worst was the local hunt . When it was legal to hunt foxes on horse back , which it not any more . I worked on the railway here in Wales . When at a local signal box . A woman barged in and told the signalman. To slow the trains down the next day in case The Hunt wanted to go on the line on their horse. They were the most arrogant, unpleasant ,obnoxious people you could care to meet . I wish I had been there at the time !

A large number of Horse riders have no 'country' background and hence their entitlement. I'm from Farming family going back to Victorian times and some off the stories of entitlement when moving Cows after milking, smell of dung complaints, Bulk Tanker attendance, you would get a great laugh! Yet they swan around the Supermarket as though the food appears by magic. Farming now is a battleground against do gooders and Woke wierdo's!

Just grab a big hunk of mane right at the neck, stand by the head ,take a couple running steps ,a jump and swing on over. Stirrups are even easier.

In Imogen's World, NOBODY is as important as she is, except maybe the Royal Family, who are just a SMIDGE more important than Imogen!

There are the odd exceptions amongst working class people, but we tend to think ofvthose as having "Delusions of Grandeur" a bit like the Hyacinth Buckét's of this world, who live in a Bungalow, with a white UPVC Picket Fence around the garden, and a Skoda Yetti on the drive.

While most of my encounters with recreational riders have been pleasant, there were a few who barely seemed to notice us when we met on a trail or unpaved road. They have just put the stock on the hundred foot washlands next to me in Cambridgeshire and the sounds and smells take me back to my holidays on the farm. The winter was wet and the washlands were well flooded so I had the geese and swans in the winter and now the grazing is top notch with all the fertile silt washed down. Sounds like we’re both blessed. ❤

The interaction between you and your cows and sheep is wonderful. Love your dog sitting in your truck like your farmhand. I saw an owl in my garden for the first time sitting on the line in my garden the other night, knew it was an owl by the silhouette made me so happy that it graced me with its presence. As for the woman on the horse, having done animal rescue, their are two kinds of people. Those who love and care about all animals and those who only care about their own animals and themselves. You have a lovely smile on your face which shows how content you are in your work. God bless you your wife and family and your animals.

I am Australian and I must say what beautiful grass land you have. So green and lush.With some of our cattle stations in the interior I honestly don't know what the poor creatures find to eat. I am a townie and don't really know about farming at all.I used to live in Gloucester NSW and we did get good years with plenty of rain and others where the rivers and creaks would dry up.One thing that did surprise me was, one day driving along a dirt road A rather large bull started running after my van on the other side of a fence, all of a sudden he jumped over about a mtr high fence clearing it and drainage ditch completely. It was time to put pedal to metal and go.

I have to say, I know just how chuffed you must be to have found your owl nest. I live in Spain, on the edge of a small village in the foothills of the Pyrenees, and we have all sorts of owls, from Little Owls all the way through tawny and barn owls up to Eagle Owls (I believe that they're the biggest owl found in Europe). Unfortunately, you rarely even see these amazing birds, but hear them regularly. I have, on a couple of occasions, been driving at night and looked across to see an owl keeping pace with the car, absolutely amazing, and I feel truly privileged to have seen these beautiful, and incredibly helpful animals.

Most horse riders aren’t like this, living in the countryside I appreciate the hard work farmers do and when riding try to quickly get out of the way of tractors on the road and if sheep are being moved either wait patiently or go a different way, unfortunately too many people see the countryside as their playground rather than a working environment. Sorry for your bad experience, and please continue to be careful around horses, they can’t help it if their riders are idiots 😢 xx

i'm from the u.s.... i do miss the sheep herds when i was growing up, the basque/euskalduna had huge herds where i grew up (we'd stopped city traffic to move them from field to field) ... and now there's none... i can't even find lamb chops at the market/shop now....they're great animals

Beilliant finding the owls, I raised a little owl chick. It used to go hunting in the evenings and return to its rabbit hutch during the day and at night. I'll never forget the last day he flew off, gave a little yappy bark as a thankyou, and that was it.

Hi Chris, I have horses and the horse she was riding would have probably spooked at the sheep. That being said, I try to train my horses to get used to those things. I live in the u.s. but I would think with so many sheep in the area that she would have a thought of that. We all need to share this earth of ours and be kind.

Horse riding in the UK is very different from where you live, Anna: There are nearly 70,000,000 humans on these little islands, with an area approximately the same size as Kansas. Owning a horse here is exceptionally expensive, and therefore the pool of people who do regularly ride skews towards the overprivileged with a sense of self-entitlement.

There are unfortunately a lot of horse riders like that who think the world revolves around them. I too am so considerate not to spook their horses but such consideration can be a one way thing. Thanks for sharing a little of your life, very enlightening. At least all this rain is giving unusually lush pasture for your flock!! Lol

KZbin algorithm brought me here. No complaints. A good find! I've had issues with people on horses before when on the Mountain Bikes. Shouting at us. Telling us to move. That they have right of way.... On a mountain bike trail....

In Missouri, USA my dad said he would nvr own sheep bc the pull up grass to feed whereas cattle chew it off. We always had healthy cattle. They were not petted so they wanted nothing to do with ppl. We had 12 acres with many ponds then 80 acres with a stream. We had angus. A neighbor had Holsteins. Dad said they were prone to pink eye.

Can’t help but agree with you mate. I watched a local guy drive at oncoming traffic and shout abuse at them to make them stop because his missus was on a sketchy horse in front of him. No end of entitlement nowadays.

To, actually appreciate what you farmers/Shepherds have to do to raise healthy animals.,........ KEEP UP YOUR GREAT WORK! (I AM CERTAIN !! ... If you advertised for volunteers?
