Awesome cross over and absolutely fantastic explanation of how farming works and what decisions mean for those producing our food. The world needs more crew like you two in it. I remember a report on inner city kids 30 years ago and something like 40% of the teenagers involved didn't know that a burger was cow or that bacon was pig. Absolutely disgusting lack of education of the masses and support for farmers. I was an animal rights activist at one time years ago and helped close some awful farms. But you guys show what actual farming could and should be. Nice one fellas!

Tom Pemberton is my favourite KZbinr, I even pay a monthly subscription to help the farm out. When I was in Tesco once I asked where the milk was that was giving the farmer more money. Their answer is *We give farmers a higher % cost per pint" I'm not sure I believed him Thanks for going to my favourite farm. Do t worry I watch every vlog you make and I love your channel too 🥰👍👏

Goals Chris to have a foot bath like Tom's for the sheep - I grew up in farming - my grandfather had a Jersey herd and we as little kids like under 5yrs allowed to ride the quite ones back to the paddock - we were the 5th generation to grow up on that farm

You were talking at the end about how you couldn't keep up with the milking schedule. I have heard from a lot of Beef farmers in the US here that say something like, "We used to milk cows as a kid, but we are not doing that again." All livestock farming takes a lot of work to keep everything healthy and going, and there is not a lot of room to just take a day or 2 off randomly, but that milk schedule is crazy. Tom has a rather large operation with several employees so it is a lot easier to work things out, but a lot of the dairy farmers it's usually 2 or 3 people, often in a tie stall barn around here, which takes more work than an parlor set up, as you have to move the milking units from stall to stall, as you go down the line....and the nice parlor is far from easy.

When it comes to the price farmers get, before we joined the EU we had what was called the Annual Price Review so farmers got a guaranteed price for produce that passed muster. Now that we have left, this policy could be restored, but the politicians don’t want to know. I was thinking, you may have had the train to yourself on the way back if you wore the same clothes. Tom has certainly got a good set up now.
