Navigating the car market today can be overwhelming due to fluctuating inventory levels and unpredictable pricing. Consumers are less inclined to pay the high prices that dealers were previously able to command. Yet, the impact of these changes isn't uniform across all vehicle types. This is partly because some car manufacturers overestimated the demand for certain cars and SUVs, leading to a surplus at dealerships. At the same time, some models are struggling to find buyers at all, exacerbating the issue. In this landscape, being informed is crucial. A key piece of information is the Market Day Supply, which estimates how long it would take to sell every car of a specific model at the current sales pace. Using CarEdge Data, we've pinpointed the new cars that have been languishing on dealership lots the longest.

True. What I can't figure out is why are so many Americans (me, us) buying these expensive vehicles while complaining we don't have enough money to buy other things? I see trucks jacked up really high with knob tires and trick lighting, only to see them parked at apartments or rental homes. There are other examples, besides trucks, but trucks are the big stand outs. What's even crazier is I see illegal immigrants driving these trucks!

You might see new Chargers and Challengers but not Hellcats. Joe Biden has put a steep gas guzzler charge on new cars that don’t average at least 24.5 mpg so Mopar is making very few of them. The dealers who get one want a fortune for it.

The problem with Dodge, Ram, Chrysler and yes even Jeep, is Stellantis itself. The huge price increases have been put in place to fund their BEV program (which itself is destined for failure). I have a 2020 Ram 2500 Limited MegaCab with the 6.4 Hemi V8, 4.10 rear end, air suspension and lots of other goodies. I use it to tow a 30' 9000 pound travel trailer, which it does very well. The sticker was about 77k in 2020. The same vehicle would now be over 100k. That is an unsupportable/unjustifiable cost increase. Stellantis has NOT invested back in Chrysler or much in Dodge. Ram has had a small amount of investment, and even Jeep has not been shown much love by Stellantis. It is obvious that they don't understand the American market. There is a reason Fiat does not sell well here. And that Hornet, well the sales numbers speak loud and clear. Dodge painted itself into a corner by going all in on the "Brotherhood of Muscle" campaign. And muscle was not the problem. It was moving out of anything other than muscle that was the problem. Giving up the brand equity with the Dodge Grand Caravan nameplate was pure stupidity. There should have been a lower cost version of the Pacifica that was a Dodge. Car companies need to be run by engineers that are first and foremost car guys. And quality should always be of higher importance over short term profit. Cheap plastics don't really save much money, but the damage they do to brand reputation is immense!

I'm trying to figure out why you spent 77K for a RAM 2500 to pull a 9K travel trailer. A RAM 1500 would have pulled that 9K trailer just fine, and you could have saved yourself a LOT of money.
@johnnicpon5783
@johnnicpon5783 2 ай бұрын
@@TheProfessorOfLife For a number of reasons. First, I wanted the MegaCab. Second, I wanted gas engine. The 6.4 BGE Hemi V8 fit the bill as it has power and durability for towing. My travel trailer is a 2020 Airstream International 30RB. We often have company on our camping trips. The limited MegaCab is a very comfortable cabin and back seat for that. Lastly, I prefer to not tow near or at limit as that is higher wear and tear on the truck. My 2500 is rated to tow just north of 16k and has a much higher payload than a 1500. The tongue weight of the Airstream is about 900 pounds. Then add 4 passengers, a full tank of gas and a full truck bed, and I would have been over the payload of the 1500. Also, I did not say I payed 77k. That was the sticker price.

Expensive, short range, too heavy, poor quality and weak dynamics compared to other options. People like new updated designs especially in muscle cars. However Fiat - Stellantis was too cheap to redesign this car. This is the same with the Camaro. Its had the same basic design since 2009. You can not tell me that if GM gave the Camaro a completely different maybe more retro design people would not buy it.

Tell the car where you want to go and it plans the most efficient way to get there. It actually is as simple as that. On my road trips the car was ready to go usually before we could finish bathroom breaks. People ask me all the time, "how long does it take to fill up" to which I answer, "I never fill up, that would be dumb". EVs charge faster the lower the battery's state of charge. Tesla's nav plans trips to keep the battery low. Range anxiety is something ICE car drivers imagined. To be fair other EVs other than Tesla have more issues but will have improved experience as Tesla continues to open it's super charger network to other brands.

@@gbinman I’m actually for EV’s and those who can live with one based on their driving needs. For me, when they can acheive a longer range it will make EV’s more desirable for me. I think the technology will come fairly soon, but until then, I’m not ready for one.

Driving needs is a key factor. Except in the most expensive EVs there aren't likely to be much above 300. Not many people drive that far in one sitting.

I’ve been complaining that trades people are finding it harder to find and buy a work van. No frills beyond power steering, windows, locks and air conditioning. Not all of the expensive unnecessary “features” to try to make them “status symbols”. Trades people don’t need that stuff to do the day to day work required. Imagine a vehicle made to do work with not the bloated feature pickups they’ve been trying to shame us in to buying. I’ve been seeing stories about Asian trucks for around $10,000, I hope they stand the industry on its ears and show the trades people that someone has taken the needs of the working stiffs of this country as well the rest of the world with some common sense, which has been on hiatus for too many years.

During hurricane Ian I woke up to water pouring into my house. I looked out side to the site of my Dodge Journey setting in water over it's wheels. I was able to get the door open and the water was up to the top of the seats. In desperation I tried to start it and to my shock it turned right over and started. I managed to drive the 7 miles to get out of the flood waters, without the slightest hiccup, other than whatever it was that I hit in the flood water blowing out my right front tire. Dried it out and haven't had the slightest problem with it. So I'll give it 10*********. Did I mention it can also pass just about everything on the road?

Back in 2005 I used to sell new Toyota Lexas in Los Angeles. We had access to over 60 banks in house. We could finance almost anybody. The name of the game was, “how much car payment can you afford per month?”. At that time we were selling 1,000+ cars per month. We had 100+ salespeople working on site 😳. New cars were Floor Planned by the factory for 90 days, meaning after 90 days if the car didn’t sell, the dealer paid daily interest to factory. Which made the dealer very aggressive in selling the vehicle. Today, the dealers are delusional thinking their outrageous markups will continue, as shown by this video’s info with 50,000+ new Dodge vehicles sitting unsold for months on their lots. I think we hit the consumer breaking point with $1,000+ a month car payments 😳 Repo deals on the way👌

We just bought a 2022 RAM 3500 6.7 Cummins. The engine is NOT noisy at all! I love the sound of a diesel engine. You can't hear it from inside the luxurious cabin. Sadness. 😅 And the reason for the 6-speed versus the 10-speed is that with a max of 1,075 lb-ft of torque and a very flat torque curve, 6 speeds is MORE THAN PLENTY!

I had NO issues with my previously owned 03, 04 RAM's with Cummins. I only sold these 8' bed models to drive a smaller truck. Cummins motor in RAM's is the ONLY medium duty motor in passenger pickups. Chevy dura ok too but I would not drive a ford if you gave me one, I would sell it. Found On Road Dead

Find the Ram 2500 hard to believe. I was shopping for one and the dealers within a 200 mile radius from me had little or no 2500s or 3500s. 1500s yes. Plenty. Ended up driving over 4 hours to get one.
