Come to think of it, all of her ‘what ifs’ weren’t only questions she had in mind. Her first was to confirm whether Woong really likes her. Then when they went to different universities, she asked ‘What if’ she goes on blind dates because she was afraid Ung might go on blind dates without her knowing. And when she brought up the ‘What if’ we broke up when she was already struggling with family problems. Her ‘what ifs’ was her way of seeking help because she was in a deep turmoil caused by her unsaid thoughts.

When you watch this after having already watched eps 4-8, you kind of understand why Woong comes back to her.. there was actually a version of Yeon Su that was so in love with him she would keep fishing for affection.. asking questions like this.. pretending to still be sick just so he can nurse her to health?! I mean, she was so fucking in love too.. and I think Woong can sense it.. and he wants this kind of Yeon Su back.. I think Yeon Su has an Avoidant attachment style due to her circumstances (she grew up very independent and worried about their finances and safety and security).. her hyper independence is understandable, but I hope to God she learns to get past it because what's waiting for her is a loving puppy!!! The only childish thing I can see is how Yeon-Su always asks questions of "What-ifs" which is toxic for him. When you love a person, their actions are already a huge asset to you in terms of affirmation. It all stems to how committed you are in a relationship when you see your partner as expressive not in words but in actions but still you appreciate everything about that person. Just look at the older couples from past generations. They are compatible because they understand each other from head to toe without even saying any words. I'm sure they professed their feelings by words before but after years of spending time with each other you can automatically know what your partner is thinking without even saying anything. I myself is kinda like Yeon Su, I want to confirm someone's feelings toward me by asking because we may understand their actions differently. For example, someone is treating you differently, and you view it as romantic actions, but in reality, they just treat you special because they treat you as a younger brother/sister or whatever. or even with your friends, sometimes we would think someone is too sweet but they're normally just like that.
