Literally my favorite thing about the show was the astounding camerawork and cinematography because never had I ever seen such perfect camerawork in a TV show! You would normally see this kind of thing in movies (mainly good ones like Alfred Hitchcock) but nope, Vince Gilligan and his ideas on how to go about how we see parts of the show defy expectations and it also defies how we look at all the characters the show, both good and bad! Plus with the balance of all four different camera trademarks used at hand makes the immersion of the show and its intense story far more immersive

I finished the show for the first time a couple of weeks ago. But it was like rewatching it. I was spoiled about most of the important things that happened. Not many surprises, you would think. Yet, I got chills watching every season. It is so well done, that even when rewatching it, it manages to surprise with something new, something you haven't thought about.

The wide shots were actually what kept me watching, I consciously realized somewhere in season 3. The emotional distance it creates keeps the violence from becoming overbearingly gratuitous. Not every death on the show is significant, or says something important about the characters, and focusing in would only play to voyeurism. Using wide shots allows the significant violence to be significant in the show, and goes to telling a great story.

That is just wrong for a teacher to do!! I love this channel and wisecrack, nerdwriter1, because they show you another way to appreciate and watch a film. This is a wonderful way we can learn from films and experience new feelings thoughts and computation rather then just escapism from film.

I love Filmmaking type channels like this one, Cinefix (somewhat but I guess they'd be classified as a Top Lists channel), the old Frame By Frame series on TheFilmTheorists channel, Wisecrack (but they're mainly a Philosophy channel), Ragnarox who makes more Horror Movie/Games/Books video essays and things, making movies is my dream job, but it's also unrealistic, even if I did find a school in Utah (I'm sure there are some) after graduating I doubt I could find a job without moving out of state, so I'll stick to KZbin channels about Movies/TV shows.

The creator of Breaking Bad worked on the original production of X Files back in the 90s. I've been binge watching the series recently & many of the same "camera tricks" were used there too albeit much more subtly. And both shows shared similar existential themes although the actual story itself is quite different of course. I've been paying so much more attention to directors & cinematography since finding your channel. Thank you for that 😊

i gotta say, ive watched breaking bad multiple times over, and through highschool watching it it just felt like a good show a really good show, but recently started rewatching it, and when jane dies feeling as disconnected from reality as jesse is, the uncomfortable and unsettling scenes that show how disconnected jesse is, its a surreal feeling, ive never felt so close to a character or show, ive never had the feeling before its hard to explain, but they did a really good job at making you feel disconnected with jesse and when ur already disconnected from everything they hit the feeling spot on

There is a Facebook meme going around that if a man finds shows like Breaking Bad or Rick and Morty to be his favorite shows women should avoid them. Because the main characters in these shows don’t respect women and are self centered. Men that find these shows to be there favorite self identity with those characters. Is there validity to this? Can you do a video on it?

Breaking down the breaking bad! Another great video by the folks at screenprism! Another tvshow with great camera trademarks and cinematography is mr.robot in which camera works as a tool to intorduce and examine the lives of characters by the use of wide shots ratter than close ups and having the characters in the corner of the shot. And with season 3 we had an even better sense of how great this series can go in terms of cinematagraphy by the fifth episode which was a long take episode like the fabulous birdman. Hope you can do a video on the show because it's a tv show that has so much potential but not so much audience and maybe your channel can introduce the show to those who haven't seen in yet of have left it after season 2 which i belive was mostly a characther study season ratter than a season to move the plot so much.
