Unpopular opinion, but Susan would have been more likable if a different actress played her. I read that Mary-Louise Dryfess was considered for the role of Susan, and honestly that type of energy would have been more resonant with the character!!

The episode where Susan chases Mike down the street, apologizing for sending his son away to protect her own daughter, made me feel pity for her. It wasn’t a case of "good riddance." Maybe, just maybe, not all of Susan's character is an inhumane, exaggerated caricature after all.

I don't understand this need for role models we have. In a soap opera... Maybe the show's premise wasn't to portray real women, but simply to entertain people? Maybe it's a way to understand our parents or even grandparents, - instead of teaching us how to be, - and how to come to terms with it, how to stop endlessly trying to adjust our parent's mindsets to 21st century, and rather exemplify what's here to love about them? because not every parent is gonna ever change, no matter how relatable to them the soap opera's character may be... Well but still, interesting points... :) :*

My being is naturally very similar to rory even though I am not huge obsessed with glimore girls, She needs lots personal space, time to reflect her best self, in real she is too good, blessed person, she must always aware about this..and be careful with how to spend her Valuable self with whom & in Safest profession for her She have dealt with hidden competition & wrong self image..actually she is very committed & dedicated towards her living, she is ready always to work hard, see children who don't have so much father's support, they become naturally hard worker, careers oriented but in that she have to compromise her comfort self, rather choose to success. Her life would be awesome she choose low key, choose Tristan & be with her mom, her homely best friend, avoid extra mess..& choose Profession where competition is less, work Peacefully...she is wonderful characters otherwise

Desperate housewives were not just written in early 2000 . It is also written from a conservative lens. A lot of plots in the show are absolutely wild. The word abortion doesn't exist in wisteria lane and Fairview. Women were either mothers or career women there was nothing else, I love a flawed character done right but I honestly could never relate to susan. We all have been bree , Lynette and Gabby. But susan was supposed to be the nice one, yet she was never nice. She actively lied about zach to Mike. She slut shamed eddie but she was equally desperate and almost pick-me, she always made everything about herself. She had her moments , don't get me wrong but i was always like, damn susan you are a grown ass women, find a hobby or something and don't make your existence everryone else's problem.

My thing is, Bree, Lynette, and Gabby are very different characters from season 1 to the end. They've grown, and things have touched them. Susan is the exact same person who is making the exact same foolish mistakes. She never really reflects. It's all about how hard the world has been on her.

If a character doesn’t have a moral failing, what is there for them to do? That’s basic writing.

I don’t know where this came from ddd I don’t think anyone was judging or making fun of her because of her sexuality. I think maddie AND the audience were disappointed. I remember how everyone was angry that show let cassie put a dude over her friendship. Maddie did the same, she was disappointed and sad telling her that she would have never done that to her. My point, this video it missing the point :(

Thank you for helping explain the ending. I always felt slightly unsatisfied by it because I didn't think he would have really changed. I didn't think that maybe his change was accepting that he can't change.

studio really f-ed up by putting it in from of the wrong audience. it could have succeeded much sooner, even in box office sales, if they paid attention to who the movie was for. glad it's beloved now and the people who made the movie know it.

I think in Orange is the New Black, I hated Piper BECAUSE I knew she was supposed to be the 'us' of the show, our 'relatable' character, and she just absolutely drove me up the wall. If she was another member of the cast I probably wouldn't have minded her as much.

...and her smile was absolutely dominating. No one stood a chance against it. ❤️❤️❤️ With her ethereal beauty and mesmerizing presence, Marilyn Monroe embodied the essence of Hollywood glamour. Her legacy is as enduring as the stars themselves. You can't find a single photo in which her beauty is "just so-so"... She is always beautiful, exuberant, radiant and sexy! Few people understood Marilyn. She was an archetype of pure love. In addition to being beautiful, she was intelligent, witty and very noble. She was a woman well ahead of her time. The world was definitely not ready for her. A star who will shine in our sky forever. And it's sad to know that there are people who only see the dark side of her life.

I like Susan, and I don't really get the takes in this video. Susan is criticized for having flaws? Like yeah, she's the representation of a human being: someone that has flaws. What would have been the point of having characters with flaws and Susan as "the perfect mom and wife" because she's supposed to be the most realistic character of the group? That does not make sense.

It's that Susan took way too long to do basic introspection. We respected Gabby more because she was proudly narcissistic. I always thought that Bree and Lynette mirrored each other, with Bree being fierce in the home, and Lynette fierce in work. And Susan and Gabby mirroring each other, with Gabby in acceptance of her outward narcissism and Susan in denial of her covert narcissism.

Another part that added to the realism and is missing in a lot of today's media is the depiction of a small town and it's people as, well, a community and people. Not just dumbfuck nowhere.

I forgot just how much I loved the show! It was emotionally immersive, human, tackled taboo topics with nuance, and had compelling characters and storylines! I wish I could watch it again for the first time! It also shares the honor of making me cry the most ever while watching a show with Sookie eating pecan pie on True Blood. I bawled my eyes out when suspended Smash was left forlorn in the locker room😭😭

For me it would've been my friend barging into my apartment unannounced and calling me privileged, my work insufficient and demanded that I pay off her irresponsible spending debt. All simply because she's too proud to take money from the man she's been sleeping with for years. Charlotte has given more good counsel than not. Carrie is jealous of Charlotte the most because she represents everything from Bigs world and what he's normally attracted to. Carrie was always coming for Charlottes' marriage, and she says her most harsh words after Charlotte tries to stop her from cheating on Big. She was so proud of herself thinking Natasha made that spelling error when she probably had her assistant do it. Whatever Carrie needed to tell herself to feel better. Big never hid that he always made an assistant do the grand gestures and reminding.
