@tinntinnamp6 жыл бұрын
Yeah but she wanted the Hollywood life so she needed to tone down her muscles. People don't seem to understand how people look in photography and on film. You can be buff, skinny, muscular, fat, whatever, anyway, on camera you look even bigger and model agencies have a certain look they want. It's not unrealistic or rude to want a certain thing for something they pay for. Modeling doesn't have to or need to exist, so the people getting paid a lot of money to do it should be happy they get a paycheck. Modeling isn't a requirement for life and if people don't want to be super slim, then, stop applying for the job! That would be the most effective way to get rid of this image Bs

Or your to fat, lose some weight then come back. I've heard that story from one model, I believe it was Chrissy Tiegan. You don't hear stories like this coming from the male population in the industry. And if you do it's few and far between.

nono, I hear ya, I do. It's mean and it's unrealistic standards etc... sure. Completely agree. I'm just saying, it's NOT fat shaming. It's hollywood asking for hollywood specific things. It's not people bullying or shaming someone for being fat. There's a very important difference in that. These people were never fat to begin with, hence it can't be fat shaming. Get where I'm coming from? And no, it's not fat shaming to want a thin model, it's just wanting what they think sells best, that is all.

Things like this go on and we wonder why so many young girls have eating disorders. The world is telling them to be desirable, to be beautiful, to be worth something you have to be thin. For a long time I believed those ideas, hated myself and my endocrine disease that unfortunately had major weight gain as a side effect. It's only been recently that I have learned to love myself, but I know many girls don't. They starve themselves, abuse laxatives and cut themselves while looking up to these actors as role models. In reality these actors just perpetuate the sickness in our society and aren't worthy of any adulation.

I'm from Belgium, and I feel like in America from what I've seen on the internet, even a lot of people can be like "Oh look at this pig" when someone is not as thin as in magazines. And they also criticize them when they are! I mean, it's insane! Here in Europe we'd encourage healthy eating habits (not eating too much, but not too few either) but, excepting immature assholes, we wouldn't be rude to someone because their body is not the magazine standard. Too thin is unhealthy as much as too much weight, there's a correct balance. I mean health is the major factor.

It's sad seeing incredible beautiful woman becoming thinner and thinner every year they are in front.of a camera.

Oh, no one should be treated this way. Actually being bigger than a 38 is not being overweight, it depends of how tall someone is. Yes I totally agree with you, it's really sad.

In my opinion that’s child abuse. Corrupting a child’s innocence and blissful naivety is child abuse. I was diagnosed with an eating disorder at age fourteen and it’s hell on earth. And it all started because my well meaning but ignorant dad told me matter of factly that I had to lose weight if I wanted to continue to pursue high jumping (which I was competing in at the time). I was already lean and muscular. Those children are well on the way to developing an ED in their tweens and teens because their minds have been poisoned by toxic parents like that.
@Just-Nikki6 жыл бұрын
Juliette Kratochvil I absolutely agree. Their little bodies need fuel to grow. Teaching healthy eating habits is important but they are too young to have their diets restricted. They need healthy fats and carbs. I have 2 daughters and I could never do that to them. We eat very clean and no fast food but we make healthy carrot cake pancakes and dark chocolate oat muffins and sweet potato fries etc. there are plenty of ways to make sure they get proper nutrition without denying them food. I also don’t freak out if they have a burger and fries every once in a while at a ball game or out with friends because in moderation it’s fine. We need to teach them to be healthy and skinny doesn’t automatically mean healthy.

Acting has been a passion of mine since I was younger. I actually developed anorexia due to acting and ballet when I was a teen. Then I recovered and gained weight from birth control. My director told me I could never play thin roles in front of my entire theatre class. Now I’ve been doing Keto, lost 74 pounds with 120 more to go just to be able to fit Hollywood’s Standards when I audition. The body stigma is shit. People don’t want to see ONLY sickly thin, they want to see thick, thin, curves, things that RELATE to them, men too. It breaks my heart.

No one should be told to loose weight no one here was overweight and it makes me sick the way some people are so rude telling people to loose weight. This kind of thing isn’t only going on in the Hollywood. I’m 13 and one of my friends practically starves herself because she got told that she was fat.i hope that this stops soon because in some situations this can lead to depression.

Sigh. I miss Hollywood, when it was actually a respectable job and a form of art. When actors and actresses used their famous platforms for someone else and not themselves. I grew up watching Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire, Audrey Hepburn, and the such. And fantastic shows like I Love Lucy, The Twilight Zone, and Alfred Hitchcock films. Hollywood used to have class back then. Nowadays it’s almost all about how tiny your waist is or if Hollywood’s hottest new project. I’m so happy to see stars who are blazing the path for a different kind of look, and for acceptance. Hopefully stardom will revert into something other than the Kardasian/Kenner form
@preciousturnbull32476 жыл бұрын
Kardasian's should be anyones role models, and Kylie Jenner Should not have a make up line, or have her self as a spokes model for a make up product, its like false advertisement, she sure as heck doesn't use her make up to look the way she does, out of all that family she has had the most plastic surgery, and got most of it done before she was even 18, you never know once she was older she might have looked prettier then with plastic surgery! How is it right to advertise basically that no matter what techniques you use or how much you put on, its just easier to just pay to look almost perfect! I i mean seriously, people wake up! That family is a joke, they are famous why..... because Bruce was an Olympic Athlete, that is ridiculous!

As a musical theatre student, fatshaming is one of the top reasons as to why I probably won't continue studying acting or look for jobs within the industry. I think acting is great fun, especially with the singing and the dancing as well, and if I could do that for a living then I would. But even with non-actress measures, I'm chubby. No way would I be able to make a career withouth losing a ton of weight. Had there been legit reasons as to why I should do that (such as playing a ballerina or something) then that would be excusable, but no way in hell will I lose weight for the sake of losing weight and fitting into some other person's standard. Take it or leave it.

Omg Jennifer Lawrence didn’t look like a ballerina AT ALL in Tes Sparrow!! I hope she didn’t suffer too much on the diet bc she looked about 30 lbs too heavy to be a dancer. She looked great. Just not a super thin dancer.

Stephania cat I was arguing that she didn't look "about 30 lbs too heavy to be a dancer." She doesn't, at least in the side-by-side with her actual ballet (thus professional ballerina) double.

Same thoughts. If actresses have it bad, it's nothing compared to ballerinas. Jennifer wasn't even close (all the better for her!).

I love my body and the weight I gained. I was always a thin girl, but after a couple of scary health issues my weight plummeted to an unhealthy weight, so now I'm taking medicine to help me gain weight and help me sleep ( I'm a night owl) hopefully this will help inspire people who are struggling to get help. And for everyone, remember to always love your body and keep it healthy and to not be afraid to sneak in some junk food here and there to it balanced.

One of the things I love of Hayley Atwell is that she has a type of body I can relate to (though I'm a bit bigger). She has breast! A not so tiny tiny waist and killer hips... Yes, she's fat for Stupidwood but I guess I'm not alone when I feel this girl is representing me. In Captain America she's strong, determined and the one kissing Chris Ev...Steve Rogers. On Agent Carter she break the society rules, punch the bad guys and risks her life more than once. Really disappointed that it was not renewed for a third season. So yes, I love er because she's so talented that was able to get main roles and not just be the main character chubby girlfriend.

My biggest dream is to be an actress, but I'm 250 pounds and I don't want to get any smaller than 150. I'm 17 years old and 5'6, and my body is actually really proportionate for being big. Honest people tell me I am chubby but curvy and I don't look my weight. I was anorexic before, and I'm actually happier now than I was at the perfect size.

To anyone who was a committed athlete, you know how difficult to lose or downsize muscles. Losing fat is much easier than muscle. Losing muscle can even hurt at night while trying to fall asleep.

Lily Collins was not forced to lose weight for her role as Ellen in "To The Bone". She actually chose to lose the weight despite already having a small frame, but it was never something that the production team told her to do. I don't know the story behind the other celebrities, so I can't speak much for them, but I do know that Lily Collins made the decision to go through with the weight loss, she actually explains it in an interview with Access Hollywood. It's important to clear things out, specially when it comes to delicate topics like this in order to avoid any misunderstandings.

Most of these people look too skinny. Even the men look too skinny. I look at some of these actors in movies and literally think to myself, god did they lose weight more weight?...it doesn't look good". When I was watching Avengers Infinity Wars, one of the actors that I thought was way too skinny was Don Cheadle. And I didn't like the joke about Chris Pratt being one sandwich away from being fat. Chris Pratt is hot big or small. Not everybody wants a toothpick.

Bob Pop sorry I didn't think of it that way. If someone is skinny because of a fast metabolism or an illness that's one thing. But when Hollywood makes people lose weight for a role in a movie when that person is already at a healthy weight I find it ridiculous.

Why Hollywood think that being a bony skin is beautiful? I find extremly displeasing when the veins on the forehead, on the neck or on the hands are noticed, when the ribs appear on the neckline or on the sides. Those haggard faces with bony noses, pointed jaws, barely noticeable breasts, tendons marking their arms, thighs that do not come together ... A healthy woman has curves (curves of muscles and fat, nor bone volume), a sensual desiderable sexy woman has curves, why Hollywood try so hard to convince us that an stick with clothes is beautiful? Why this crusade against nature?
@AM-gv9db6 жыл бұрын
I agree when you say bigger and curvy women are beautiful, but I don't think your "skinny examples" are justified. Veins on the forehead, neck and hands are genetic. Many people get them as they grow older and it doesn't necessarily correlate to weight. Same with a thigh gap which depends on your hip placement and not as much on your weight (if you're a normal weight). I don't really understand what you mean by bony noses, but unless you're extremely underweight or overweight your nose shape will not change much.
