"To the bone" is a movie that everyone must watch in today's time where people are obsessed with weight and calorie intake. I could relate to it for some extend. I had and still don't have a good relationship with food, but my parents help me so I am better. This movie reminds me of my teenage years mostly, I never knew how thin I was and the way I hated food. Also a lot of my frnds who had same issues, including my bestfriend who fainted occassionally. The movie is amazing in showing the helplessness, stubbornness etc. It really helped me see things different for real !!
@Lili-fw9co2 жыл бұрын
Still you have to handle this movie with caution. It really supports the stereotypical picture of people with eating disorders having to be very thin in order to be valid. Also it can be very triggering, I know quite a few people including me who used to watch this movie religiously as a kind of thinspo and seeing lily Collins as a role model
@lakshmi38212 жыл бұрын

ACTUALLY, Lily Collins said that it WASN'T mandatory for her to lose weight, but it was something she decided for herself in the sake of getting into character, and trying produce an overall good message for people hitting rock bottom, signifying that it isn't the end. She did it as safely as possible with the supervision of medical professionals, and when she was done, she regained the weight to continue her happy life like it never even happened. Obviously, since she was a victim of an eating disorder, this hit close to home for her in wanting make an impact of changing the way an anorexic or bulimic thinks. I totally get that, since I'm also an anorexia survivor, and if this meant I could help someone else to recover from something I almost died from, I'd say it's completely worth it. Lilly Collins specifically expressed they never asked her to lose weight, she was already small enough to edit with CGI, she chose to on her own. She had a nutritionist and the entire crew who helped her lose the weight but she ate every single meal every day, and the nutritionist worked with her afterwards to him back the weight she’d lost and checked in on her continuously throughout to make sure she was doing okay mentally.

In Malaysia we have Shaheizy Sam who easily gained and lost weight within a few periods of time depends on his roll in a movie..i'm amazed with the actors and actresses that jeopardize their life to makesure that their roles become more realistic🌟..that's what we called as passion🙌

Lily Collins is so underrated & so is the movie "to the bone". She is so brave and losing so much weight in a short time needs to be hard. I wish someone could say to me to loose weight, because I need it. she is gorgeous & I hope she is doing well.

@Roxie Rocks you don't get my point... It's their job to lose weight but do we need to lose weight fast? No! And why did Jenifer said she was soooo hungry? It might have been a healthy way of losing diet (i doubt that) but i'm super sure they weren't happy when they were losing those weights... Either way my point was that normal people should lose weight in a happy way if they try to lose weight fast they'll abandon their diets since they couldn't handle it and they'll start eating unhealthy again... To lose weight and have a good body will take years if done nornally and that would fit your schedule
@Bloxeh5 жыл бұрын
Yup! There is no point in doing so, you are basically just robbing your body energy to function. When the body is starved it will just burn anything to keep functioning and muscles are early to go. Your metabolism is damaged aswell. Just eat whole foods (primarily plants, or only plants) and eat until you are satiated. Normally this should bring you to your optimal weight over time. Keep moving in the process (doesn't have to be excessive).

xtrmtrash and i'm aware it's an unhealthy thinking pattern but it's one very real to me. making jokes about it is how i cope with stressful events and emotions. granted the way i executed it was a bit off base, i rectified my mistake and will be more cautious in the future.

I was in the throws of my own Anorexia when I watched To the Bone and I loved the movie to be honest. I found it relatable at parts and although some things were criticized: I.E How "pretty" They made the main character's experience with disordered eating. The truth of the matter is: That is the case sometimes. Working in the entertainment industry whether as an actor, a singer or as a model (especially as a model) It is more than easy for people to start hating their body and to start shaming themselves, speaking from personal experience. To The Bone portrayed anorexia simply but in a way that didn't feel unnecessarily explicit or under explained. I can understand why Lilly wanted to lose the weight for the role, it provides a layer of authenticity, plus: She's human and deals with the same issues any of us Recovered Ana's would have, such as her crooning old voice telling us to starve every chance it gets. I know if someone offered me a role and then told me the character was unhealthily skinny, I would jump at the chance to use it as an excuse to starve. I'm already perfectly healthy and am by no means in need of some weight loss: but the urges don't leave. Just see a lot of comments about this so thought I'd share.
