Even at our homes in north India we call kids monkey bcoz they are cute nd super active. A word of advice from a native of this state. People from remote villages are way more nicer and more friendlier than urban areas. But one mistake due to communication problem can lead to very bad consequences. So my advice is try bringing someone along who can break the language barrier so you don't inadvertantly offend them in any way. We as khasis are very sensitive and can get easily offended and it pains me to say that some of us can't seem to embrace other cultures and become open minded like a proper civilized community. But nothing can be done about that. We are peace loving people we love and embrace tourists so please for your safety try to find someone who will break the language barrier. We would hate to see travelers and tourists get treated the wrong way since our state thrives on tourism and tourism alone. Without it we'd have nothing. So keep going on be safe and do try to get someone who will help you understand our language and culture better. Love your videos and keep exploring.

Khasi kids speaking English is nothing new anymore. Nowadays some kids learn English before they even learn Khasi and thus English becomes their first language, Khasi their 2nd I know many kids who speak perfect English but struggle a lil bit with Khasi and become fluent when they get older
