"Last Spring, 2023 Clearaudio, a company best known for it's turntables, tonearms, phono cartridges and record cleaning machines celebrated its 45th anniversary.
Rather than mounting its usual large High End Munich main floor exhibit, the company chose to throw a big party before the show for its distributors around the world and for others who would normally have met with them at the High End show to do business.
This way, Clearaudio was able to show its distributors both the factory and a good time. I was fortunate enough to be invited to attend, so instead of flying into Munich, I flew into Nuremberg by way of Zurich, Switzerland. The flight from Zurich was hit by lightening so we had to turn around more than halfway there, return to Zurich, then fly to Frankfurt and finally on to Nuremberg. That was the only part of the weeklong adventure that was less than fun.
Clearaudio's Robert Suchy was a wonderful event host and despite being quite ill with a (non-contagious) respiratory infection, he soldiered on and conducted a full and entertaining factory tour. You're sure to be impressed by the company's diverse manufacturing prowess."

I once worked for a Linn dealer and we had a guy come in and setup a clear audio turntable and wasn't interested in talking to me so after he left I compared the Clearaudio to the Linn LP12 and to me it sounded bright and thin and dead. I'm sure its much better now.

I was going to purchase the LP12 but was told by over a dozen people that it is a headache to set up and maintain and there are more options than a Denny's Menu.. I'd like to know your thoughts thank you joe

That is why you always buy it from a dealer who will set it up for you. I was sent to the Linn distributor to learn how to set them up.@@stateniland

@@stateniland Hi Joe, I bought my first LP12 in 1982 which was a Hugh upgrade over my Thorens TD160 Super it was replacing, I've gone down the upgrade path over the years with the Linn. With that said the LP12 is not as great as the fan boy think & not as bad as the Llnn haters say, they can sound reallly nice, plus I have an emotional connection to the LP12. However a full boat LP12 is not money well spent & proper setup is critical to get the best out of them. I do not care for their arms plus the fact that they lack azimuth adjustment is an automatically disqualifies it for me. At 3,000 for a base deck it's fair but opt for the keel sub-chassis add 3,800, the DC motor 5,600 try 9,800 in the nice case. And the upgrades do improve the sound as you move up the line but there are just too many options today that make so much more sense. As I haven't heard every product Clearaudio makes I do tend to agree with the previous comment with regard to their sound, I'm not a big fan. One thing I would give series thought to is isolation whether it be a built in suspension or external isolation, like a Minus K platform. Don't buy the line of just mass loading or constrained layer dampening as isolation whether internal or external really is a great benefit. If you like that classic look, with a much more sound suspension than the LP12, a real show stopper that is a bit overlooked these days, the latest Oracle Delphi is a great value. The Brinkmann's & AMG's are nice for non=suspended designs. And don't discount going down the vintage path with something like a custom Garrard 301 / 401 which can sound pretty impressive. In the end it's amazing how good a LP12 is capable of sounding considering all the engineering design compromises. I hope that is somewhat helpful Joe.
