Episode 2 | The Taste Master SA: The Baking Edition

It’s time to bake more memories with The Taste Master SA! In this episode we meet the remaining 6 of our top 12 finalists. They will battle it out to make it to the top ten. Today they must create a cake inspired by spice. We welcome guest judge, Faaiza Omar, who inspires the contestants with a Master Class on her take on a Parisian Love Cake made with Indian and Middle Eastern ingredients and spices. After the final tasting, three contestants make it into the top ten, and the bottom three will go into the first elimination challenge.
Tune in on Friday at 7PM on SABC2 to see who will bake their way to the top and who will be up for elimination.

July 15 2023 from Maryland USA: I discovered The Taste Master SA series yesterday and went through a whole season from last year. Love the format of the Master Classes and the use of various indigenous plants to fruits. In the series, I finished it was winning a replica pin of the Royal Baking Powder. Love all the pins! Why are the men all in pink aprons and the ladies in denim? The special guest is definitely a fashion diva and shows in her works. I am going to check her book out.

The mistakes some of these cooks make just can’t be real. Putting a spatula in a running machine? That is a mistake a child would make. Your syrup is burned? Your cake doesn’t rise? You forget ingredients? They don’t leave enough time? Trying something they’ve never made? They try over and over to make their items but don’t know what they are doing? They are in a competition- on tv! This has to be faked. Who would

Nqobile is just unsophisticated and doesn’t know how to use a thermomix. Gurl, literally there were METAL BLADES whirring around. What did you expect when you put a silicon spatula inside 🤦🏻‍♀️also the pistachio paste split, it didn’t emulsify. Gurl REDO THE PASTE OMG DONT JUST PICK THE PARTS OUT THERE LITERALLY MAY BE MICROSCOPIC WOOD SPLINTERS AND SILICONE SPATULA, ITS NOT SAFE FOR CONSUMPTION. Also, her flavor profiles don’t complement each other

Well TBH I am pretty sophisticated and I don't know how to use one either so there's nothing wrong with that. She's very young. I don't think there's any reason to make fun of her for that. I agree that she shouldn't have picked the pieces out. That was completely inappropriate. The flavors seemed OK though. I disagree with you on that one.

This show is a bit disappointing . The environment of it is not inspirational. The challenges are not that much challenging . The judges don't make good decisions like giving enough time and in result we have not enough good looking cakes . I can number more but my fingers are getting tired .

The girl copied Jason’s idea though literally. Cinnamon on top, then hazelnuts on top, when Jason’s had hazelnuts AND cinnamon infused inside his frosting. Gross.
