Well, done for making an observation on something completely subjective & irrelevant, i.e. aesthetics. I actually really don't like the look of the Avengers model, but I acknowledge some would prefer it. Same goes with the mirror black & silk white too. I'll either be pulling the trigger on a midnight black model or I'm actually hoping for a sandstone black in the near future like the original OP1. However, the price increase on the limited edition model, completely negates the main reason, & overwhelming USP, for buying an OP device...The price...

The photos are mostly in auto mode. Use the P20's pro mode and you'll see the difference. The P20 is far superior.

Man I gotta give it to OnePlus for their latest flagship but that stadium shot really sold it for me in terms of flexibility on the Huawei P20 Pro. But with the price of the OnePlus 6, it's hard to justify spending more for an occasional situation while the OP6 holds its own in most other areas. And as for the shaky video in the OP6, if you shot in 4k60fps it uses OIS instead of EIS and that's probably where the difference was. Erica Griffin discovered that.

Just got the P20 pro after agonising over it or the OP6. Very happy with it so far. I love the range of options on it and the camera app is very easy to use. It just seems like a step closer to an actual camera than most phones at the moment. But almost every phone out right now produces great results. It's only when we compare photos side by side and zoom in to analyse detail that we get more fussy :)

This is my first oneplus for me, I am a really big fan of huawei phones but nowadays they're going a little bit higher on prices, came from the Mate 10 Pro to OnePlus 6 and i thought it would be a downgrade for the battery and camera, but its not, at this price OnePlus really managed to get a great phone and it was actually cheaper than my Mate 10 Pro, i think I'll stick with it for a while and see what Huawei offers by the end of the year.

I bought the op6 but was considering the p20 pro. I'm honestly glad I saved my money. I don't feel like the additional benefits are worth the additional money as it's not like the p20 is levels above the op6 to justify the increase in price . Also...I forget which settings use which stabilization method but supposedly mattering on the resolution you set the video (OnePlus 6) determines if the video is utilizing ois or eis. I think the 60fps options use OIS and the regular 720, 1080, 4K use EIS

This became much closer comparison than I expected. OnePlus 6 has better HDR triggering system which activates HDR more often than P20 Pro, resulting in more dynamic looking (though quite oversaturated) with better shadow exposure. I was quite surprised how P20 Pro managed to pull out more details in most shots out of the image, though, I thought 16MP sensor would really do its job here. However it was a bit disappointing that there was no nighttime landscape samples since that's where P20 Pro truly shines... It would've been very nice to see if I was able to see more low-light photos including pitch black conditions. Overall great comparison though.

IMO, casual smartphone users would tend to perfer recording in 1080p, for the mere reason of saving storage space. Of course its always nice to have 4K, but I wouldn't record in that resolution unless something REALLY deserves that high of a resolution to record in.

Aside from the P20 Pro's night mode and zoom (which is WOW), I actually liked the OnePlus 6 better, which was quite a surprise for me because I own a OnePlus 5 and the OOS Camera app quality is basically a mess.

Your comparisons have been really helpful for me - my job requires taking a lot of photos and videos on the go without the weight of full camera gear. I've opted for a Lumix DCZS-70K for telephoto, but need a phone camera that can handle a wide range of situations and not break the bank! I would never have chosen the OnePlus6 if not for these comparison videos. For me, it's the winner and even though it seems it doesn't have the right frequency for LTE where I live (Saint Lucia), it still wins

Nice comparison video. The camera on a smartphone is the most used feature for me, so I love watching these videos to try to get the best camera for the money. One thing that I want to point out is that the P20 pro only shoots that 960 fps at 720p and for only 0.25s. The OnePlus 6 can shoot 480 fps at the same 720p for a whopping 1 minute. Overall, I do like the P20 pro camera, but my preference for overall package is the OnePlus 6. Thanks again for the great comparison!

Nazzy, as I stated earlier have the Mate 10 Pro and OP6, the battery endurance on the Mate is great. The charging (DASH) is faster, and I do know there's a 700mA difference between the two. Still both are fast. Having had a OP3t have like 4 DASH chargers and 5 cables, and keep one with me when I go to work, or in my jacket pocket. I do use WAZE with the Mate, because my car adaptor will quick charge the Mate. When OP releases their BT Bullet ear buds, I'm going to order a DASH car charger and one of the wood cases, or nylon. I have the Karbon at present.

Yo Day Based on my experience with my OnePlus 6, I'm able to get 6hrs of screen on time on a single charge, compared to 3hrs with my Galaxy S8. So no, I wouldn't consider the OnePlus as "drain fast".

I took a chance and bought the p20 pro with my carrier (big discount when I bought it). At the beginning, I wasn't impressed by the camera quality vs my Honor 8... But as the time goes, I see where the camera is shining. Phones like Pixel took great picture in auto mode compared to the p20, but when you know how to use the camera on the p20, it's unbeatable. Very good quality!

I think OP6 is the winner in auto mode. I heard for manual modes and the other modes like for the P20 Pro, it's arguably the best right now. I have an OP6 and it takes great pictures, but I think I may buy a P20 Pro just to test and use it for night shots.

The P20 just has the best camera hardware. Most of the imperfections you see between the shots are due to the processing software. You can easily update software, but you can't update hardware. Huawei just doesn't have the best processing, but may get fixed in an update. But as far as just what's on the phone, the P20 has the best and most versatile camera system on the market.

Wow, I came for the cameras. And I leave with an opinion about the microphones. The quality of the OP 6's mic is miles away from the one on the P20... Or did you have your hand on it ? People tend to forget the mic quality in videos or in general. I'm on a 2 y.o. compact Sony, but when I record concerts, the mic beats so many high end phones. Great that OP didn't save on this part.

I prefer the 1+6s camera. The only advantage of the p20Pro is the killer zoom; but the washed out selfie and no OIS for 4k are deal breakers vs the cheaper yet equipped 1+6.

I agree. The huawei P20 pro is a far superior phone than the oneplus 6 but in a day-to-day usage, I personally think that OP6 is a far better deal. The P20 pro has better camera but utilizing its full potential needs a bit of learning especially in manual mode. In every day use, the op6 will sufice given its lower price tag and even during normal shooting, it hard to tell the difference between the two phones.

When updating Android phone what happens to Oxygen? Is the Oxygen OS adapting to new features of new Android OS to make the phone still work fast even if software can get more demanding?

About the shaky OnePlus 6 footage at 4K, you have probably had your settings set to 60fps, because that's when it only uses OIS. Hence, the video is not as stable.

I have both. Like the battery on the Mate. But on the whole, like the OP6, and the main reasons is Oxygen vs. EMUI and LTE bands 66 and 71 which if in a T-Mobile US area that has them deployed gives better building penetration. I know there is an international review and if living elsewhere, that difference may or may not be important. While I may not buy the P20 if I lived elsewhere, I might lean towards the Mate do to it being highly discounted.

Video you shot in New York was probably in 60FPS 4K. In that mode, OnePlus does only OIS with no EIS, because it handle that much processing (extremely heavy for CPU). OIS can help little while shooting video.

If you do what most people do and pick up your phone and take an auto pic, or selfie pic...the op6 is the clear winner. If you think of yourself as an artist and take black and white pics or like to zoom in from the top of stadiums, the P20 pro is your choice. Amazing that the op6 beats out such a supposed great camera

But you didn't use all of the samsung's features in its battle against OP6 and now in this video too. You did not use different cameras for photos for p20 pro. There is a 40MP camera and a 12MP as well. You should've used and compared all photos from both cameras in p20 pro. Come on man. You're leaving a lot in these 2 videos. Don't do this. Love u.

The only real advantage of the P20 Pro is the 3x optical / 5x hybrid zoom. Otherwise it is WAY overrated in terms of photo quality. I would take One Plus 6 any day. Especially given the price. And this review is really weak.

The OnePlus 6 is the clear winner here. The only advantage of the P20 Pro is the telephoto Zoom. Outside of that, there's really no comparison.
