Steve's build is great for a bicycle but I'd much rather "camp" in the Techno build.

I have a 10kW system and a 5k BTU A/C window unit. On eco mode, which primarily just turns off the fan(a 60W+ load) and a longer compressor off period, I can run it for two night cycles, assuming I got enough solar to keep me at 50% during the day. I use a separate 10W PC fan to keep the air circulating while the 60W A/C fan is off. When I set the A/C to 70 degrees without eco mode, the compressor cycles on for 3 minutes and off for 4 minutes, consuming about 300W per hour(based on outlet meter). Since solar production stops around 6 PM and resumes at 9 AM, that's a 15-hour period, amounting to a total of 4.5 kWh, which is a lot considering i also keep a 250w load at all times. My plan is to use a programable cycle outlet to turn on the A/C for 3 minutes and off for 10 minutes, paired with the 10W fan. This setup should theoretically reduce power consumption to 120W per hour, as the A/C will effectively run for about 15 minutes per hour, resulting in approximately 2 kWh over a 16-hour period. August will reveal how comfortable this cycling pattern is overnight. Stay safe out there and good luck on your journey.

Hell of a system you got there. I'm planning on upgrading mine from a window unit to a mini-split with variable inverter.
@MHawkeye

@@TheTechnoBarbarian It’s not sufficiently comfortable for me personally. My goal is a 30kWh battery bank since 2kW of solar seems enough to float through cloudy days. My problem is overnight, extended cloudy, or winter conditions. I haven't seen thorough testing of mini split/inverter window units beyond people plugging them into the wall and seeing high startup wattage. Them claiming the wattage tapering off once the room stabilizes, but I haven't seen any extended period tests using an outlet meter to measure power usage over an hour or overnight (around 15 hours for me). People also say these units are quieter because they don’t have the compressor clunk. I’ll try a programmable power cycle outlet first before spending $300-$1,000, which I’d rather spend on another 5 kWh bank. I look forward to seeing your upcoming videos. I watched the one where you had to limit your power usage because you didn't have a battery shunt/meter to track it. It was funny because I was in the same situation for a while. I finally started using the victron smartshunt. My only complaints are that the estimated time feature only shows the time until empty, not the time until full charge, and the Bluetooth connectivity doesn't work on Windows.

update on the power cycle outlet, works in terms of power conserving but keeping me comfortable is a hard no. ill have to check out the inverter ac units now.

im looking at the powerkits by Ecoflow for mine, I looked at the Bluetti but the one con for me was the amount of space the connector cords take up to go from the main unite to the batteries, that at least an extra 1-2' width it would need

Modular battery addresses non-camping use. Dang, didn’t think about it. That solar system is just sitting in the truck not being used. when you can pull out the bluetti and use it around the house. Could be good for those who dont want to mess with inverters, charge controller. Or keep the powerplant in the truck, maybe increase capacity, leave it outside and run the whole shop/garage. Its a generator that can drive. This could be long term/advance choice, the system is less compact like the consumer generator but your can swap panel, batteries, inverters.
