I've been eyeing this scanner and it's almost at a price point where I could justify it. One thing that worries me is if any of the processing is done in the cloud or what would happen if Creality stopped supporting it. Will all these scanners just turn into e-waste? Do you need an Internet connection to run the scan or do the processing or is that all handled locally? Thanks for the in-depth video and your results seem very encouraging. On the marker issue, you can probably get away with using reflective tape (comes in rolls) and just cutting it into small squares. It's dirt cheap and the scanner should be able to track it like any other feature on the surface of your subject. Probably much cheaper than what Creality charges for their markers.

I think this is always a concern with proprietary software. The software runs locally IIRC - but will double check when I next use the scanner.

THank so much from Italy. It would be interesting to compare POP3, Ferret Pro and a possible comparison with RANGE2 in scanning people.

It's certainly a great bit of kit for the money, to have this ability at sub £400 is fantastic. Although it has it's faults, you can counteract them with good scan techniques and textured backgrounds etc. but I made the decision to sell mine and opt for the einstar or maybe the cr raptor once I've seen some reviews. I'm yet to purchase either. I'm leaning towards the einstar as the Creality software is runbish

I've not tested the Raptor but hope to soon.

Super good video mate. How large was the shoe file? My interest is 3d scanning shoes for our products store on Shopify. They need to be glb format and less than 5mb. So some optimisation required post scan I would think.

Sorry I don't have the trainer file anymore to check. For a website I might look at something like Object2vr - much quicker.

Thanks for this! Such a brilliant video, I think I'm going to get one of these but I wonder if it works 'offline'? I like to go on walks and scan things out in the 'wild' on my free phone apps. Can I scan things using the ferret pro without wifi/internet, then take them home on my phone to process?
@TheTechnologyManАй бұрын
Thank you! Yes you can use the Pro just with the app offline.

Thanks for the detailed review, do you think that it would be able to scan a surfboard (perhaps covered in masking tape to give it a matte surface plus marker points) I tried with an iPhone with lidar using the polycam app without much luck, how do you think the ferret pro would do?
@TheTechnologyMan5 ай бұрын
It should be possible. If there's any pattern on the surfboard you could use texture mode. But most likely you'll need to add markers or draw something over it.

Just fyi there are 4 cameras and what look like maybe a sensor or i guess could be a camers in the dark area by the left camera look at the scanner. You would have to get light shining in the black area to see it but it is there.

Yes you said there are 4 sensors when there are 5, look at the space between the left most canera and the center light/sensor. You might need a light to see it

Hi! I’m from Mexico. I’m trying to find a 3D scanner to print 3D portraits (not sure if only bottom part or full body) I’ve no experience neither in scanners or printers but I consider myself a good self learner. Do you think someone with no experience could use it? In your experience with this scanner, should be enough for the body printing? (Don’t want to take much time editing) you answer will really help me!! Thank you so much!

Heyy Mr. Gidon! I hope you're doing well. I've been following your channel for a while now, ever since the days of the LG PK3 speakers which we briefly spoke together in the comment section. Now, I've become an aspiring audio engineer! A while back, I've sent you an email about an in-app EQ proposal for the Anker Soundcore Q30s (which you did review also), but I'm not sure if it has gone through. Since the Q30s are actually still a very relevant pair of headphones nowadays, it would be really nice if you can take a look at that and maybe share my settings on your website review? I wrote in much more detail in the email. I hope you see this, and have a great day!
@TheTechnologyMan6 ай бұрын
Sorry I don't have those headphones anymore so I'm afraid I can't test your EQ profile but good luck.
@MrAlex-lk8zn6 ай бұрын
@@TheTechnologyMan Yes, I had anticipated that 😅. However, is there any chance you could still have the settings shared on your website review though? I spent quite a bit of time working on it, and I really think it brings the Q30's audio quality way beyond the typical Sony & Boses. It would be nice if I can share them as the current audio industry is slightly misleading right now where big brands just trick people with their marketing, trends, and peer pressure. I went for a sound that is slightly warm and bass heavy so that general listeners can enjoy it while also being relatively natural, balanced, and accurate for more demanding listeners.

What happens if the object being scanned has holes like a window on a model car? Will it mess up the scan?

It can't scan holes - but you may be able to capture the rest of the object.

How could I earn money by using this technology?
@TheTechnologyMan5 ай бұрын
I would consider this more of a consumer scanner. That's not to say you couldn't make money off it if you use your imagination!
@j6077xxd4 ай бұрын
Scan products for retailers so they can use the models on their website product pages. Just get the tech, learn it, then rock up to shops and proposition them with a demo. You'll get customers for sure. You'll need to do some optimisation for each scan to reduce the scan file size. But you could make bank I am certain.
