Well, Rabbi Richman, I was wondering if there is another side of this two-edged sword that is also working within this lovely concept as you so put it; such as a divine law working in the hearts of a people so dear to Hashem...🤔... Maybe, just maybe as it is written or for (better wording) "which is the holy thoughts of HASHEM's mindset' "THE TURAH'.... the law i see operating also in your commentaries is the new agreement ALMIGHY made with this people written in Yirmeyah(Jeremiah 31:3,18,27,31,32,33,34,35,36). Rabbi, to US this is the MOST powerful ONE(CREATOR OF ALL) that have made this agreement with US. WE WOULD BE FOOLS not to clearly see the law working in this conception of what the manah is doing to our hearts.

I disagree it was not subduing their own spirits but rather to walk by faith in the Holy One for as it is written "man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceed out of the mouth of G-d." It is only though our love and faith in Him that we seek to fallow Torah. we love Him because he loved us so it is not that (non-kosher) meats are not tasty but we love HaShem more as one leaving porn for one's own spouse.
