So Saxony replaced Prussia, resulting in a greater focus on industry than military strength for "Germany".
@InchonDM4 жыл бұрын
A comment on another video proposed what I thought made a lot of sense--while the overall "Germany" is still together, Saxony went for a more conservative view on unifying the country, acting as a more overt overlord instead of Prussia's method of being economically and politically dominant. Hence why it gets called the Empire of Saxony, as the Empire of Austria was named after the dominant Austrian archduchy. So "Germany" isn't _too_ fundamentally different--the Saxon and Prussian aesthetics weren't that different at the time, and Germany as an industrial power was basically always going to happen. But you're extremely correct! Instead of an army with a country, we get an industry with a country. Which also results in a big army. So.

For America, I like the idea I saw on a Reddit post of a version of the US where the colonists didn’t go full genocidal on the natives but instead integrated with them; creating a European/native mixed culture. I like this cause you could see mechs based on native Americans; like using large ballistas instead of guns and more based on speed and maneuverability for hit and run tactics. Also explains the shogunate since I could see this America having no interest in enforcing unequal treaties on japan like in real life.

I still think tanks would replace mechs, i know kinda weird but tbh tanks are faster, smaller and still pack a good punch, maybe the bigger mechs would just dwarf the tanks(im talking about the art so like the titan mechs) soo they could crush it but the only real way these walkers would be good is if they would be used as mobilie fortresses and siege platforms but not straight up replace battle tanks. Ok just imagine your a soldier and you see this medium sized mech lumbering at you and you just aim a anti tank rifle where the pilot should be and boom, you more or less killed it, but a tank, oh baby that thing will just overun you before you get a shot off. Its a cool idea with the mechs but i just feel like the tank would usually win against those medium sized mechs on the frontlines. BUT, the mechs would have a use as super heavy lumbering fortresses(of course the big ones) or just mobilie gun platforms FOR DA BIG BOOM
@QuantumAscension14 жыл бұрын
monke boi Honestly, that’s kinda the argument for most stories involving mechs. Something on the relatively small side such as the Mantis in Halo or Titans in titanfall are just about the reasonable upper limit. Those can fill the role of infantry fighting vehicles and move on terrain that wheeled/tracked vehicles can’t. But anything bigger will likely be too unwieldy in close quarters, too exposed to enemy fire, too heavy for ground pressure, too top heavy that it can be knocked over, and too much cost per unit to outweigh the applicability of tanks.
@dyslexicmidget13444 жыл бұрын
@@QuantumAscension1 yeah as i said the only use for them as i see it are mobile fortresses and siege platforms, you could really stick some big guns on those titans(again, im only talking about the artwork) those could level a city in a fee shots, or make quick work of forts, mobile arty and moblie H U G E fortresses

I read that germany actually was backstabbed by union defeatists that did a bunch of ammunition manufacturing strikes near the end of the war. Basically they really wanted the war to end and they figured that to do this, they had to cut off Germany's supply lines. Anyway, toothbrush man blamed them for Germany's defeat and labeled them as communists and jews, which really shows how he was able to turn Germany's populace against the jews so easily and get people to think that jews were traitors. However, while the ammunition strikers were filthy traitors whose actions ironically would contribute to the beginning of a second world war, I doubt many of them were jews, and communism was in it's infancy so I don't really know if they really had much of a foothold in germany, maybe the strikers had some marxist ideas but I doubt they were in a formal communist organization.

Largely that the Kaiser and Nobility maintained power, and now there's a tenuous balance between them and the liberals. Not sure how giant mechs would lead to stagnate warfare, honestly. I'd expect the war to swing to one side and be over fairly quickly, due to higher mobility and the difficulty of replacing lost mechs.

Depends a lot on how secure the supply line is. WWI, the supply lines from Germany to the Western front was essentially untouchable, so as long as they could get the arms and soldiers and ammo made, it could be fired. Factories were safe, and as long as they had the raw materials they could supply the front. WWII with aircraft, this was not the case. Factories were known targets and not safe. Supply lines (bridges particularly) could be cut. If this A.U. has aircraft or some other method of outflanking a front and getting at the lines, a more mobile war would be necessary and preferable. If no effective aircraft, then pick your line and hold it down.

I love this but I have to ask, if the General Staff of the Armies of Saxony form a cadre of master tacticians, who viewed the Kaiser as mere ceremonial in leadership - how was the lack of victories on the Fronts the Kaiser’s debacle? His Imperial Majeste’s diplomatic coups may have turned possible catastrophes into mere palatable stalemates.

I'm also confused on that. One one side they say the Generals are competent products of a meritocratic system, on the other they failed to recognise the importance of new technology and got their asses kicked. Also confused about how the system can be meritocratic when it is stated that the aristocracy has so much power.

For anyone wondering, I have literally no idea who the Emperor (Kaiser, same-difference) of Saxony (or Saxon Emperor, or maybe Emperor of the Saxons, I don’t know what the title is) is . My two guesses were Friedrich Augustus III, the real-life last King of Saxony, or Friedrich III, real-life King of Prussia and Kaiser for approximately three months before his death due to throat cancer, since his son is named Wilhelm (Wilhelm II, to be specific), in line with the video

People have been criticising, where are the wheels? I realized that they're there, it's just that in this alternate universe, humanity never invented the caterpillar tread I think, nor did the Wright Bros. take off at Kittyhawk, NC. Nobody invented treaded tanks nor fixed wing aircraft as we know it in this world. That's why hydraulics from steam and diesel engines powered armored constructs that could propel themselves over rough terrain without needing train tracks nor paved roads. Large wheels are simply too unwieldy by themselves without the invention of the rubber wheel/tire, so maybe that's why we see large wheels but, no rubber tires on them. The theory is that with the lack of certain small but significant innovations, warfare and invention took a rather different path in this world.
@yebat19844 жыл бұрын
Hey, I like that idea. Thus they had to use mechanical legs to traverse rough terrain (explains that Rusviet mech Nakolvanya, with massive wheels and legs pushing from behind). Also explains why there aren’t any planes, but massive airships (can be seen in the campaign) still dominate the skies as it is our only method of flight.

It's a bit of a contradiction there. Early in the video, the armistice is blamed on incompetent generalship in the face of military innovation (exactly like WW1 IRL). Thing is tho the Saxon general staff are later described as professional and competent. Also, in Iron Harvest, this staff would have armored walkers with which to break the trench warfare of WW1. So which is it? Are the general staff, competent or incompetent? I don't really see how they could lose.
@krievondhahrknes42594 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if I'm right on this, but at its core the general staff are very competent, professional, and talented with what they had, but they got too cocky during the start of the war which caused them a lot because of said unexpected changes(kinda like the invasion of France during WW1). Yet they didn't lose the war more like they outcome wasn't worth the trouble since they gained less of what they wanted once the armistice was signed.

So what caused Saxony’s primacy amongst the German states and particularly over Prussia and Austria?
@PandoraKin5644 жыл бұрын
I know the game focuses on Poland, Russia and Germany I'd like to know what is going on Britain, France, and Spain/Portugal. Considering those in our timeline were the dominate powers of the planet. I find it interesting that Britain lost its European Hold and France is out of the game entirely. I also wonder if Otto von Bismark existed here, as I doubt he wouldn't have been born and experience a similar life as he single handily (More or less) for Prussian Germany for us. I imagine the British Tank still came to be, might even contrast Eastern Mechs to Western Tanks. I'm imagining a combination of Planes and Tanks in the west, Artillery and Mechs in the East. Like a tech divide of two different, but ultimately the same ideas. Legs VS Tracks. Considering Croat Nicola Tesla, I'd like to see how powerful Yugoslavia and USA is since he had influence in both the Balkans and Americas having lived in both.Yugoslavia, may be the reason Austria-Hungary isn't mentioned so far from the material we've seen of the games. They may have reformed an Eastern Rome of sorts.

Wait a minute, tanks were one of the things that actually ended trench warfare. If they had all these mechs at the beginning of the war, why was the fighting so static?
@Nostripe3614 жыл бұрын
I think this is the idea here is rather than trench warfare, which was not an issue in the Eastern Front of WW1 as much, the thing that messed it up was the massive amounts of soldiers that were lost to these mechas ripping into them with advanced weapons lead to any offensive moves to collapse. It could have been much like the Eastern Front in our timeline where no man's land didn't really exist but the massive death tolls and back and forth between Germany and Russia lead to the front to become as destructive and endless as the West. Really without the total collapse of Russia, WW1 eastern war could have gone on for a couple more years at least.
