God, I’ve never played Mass Effect, but that line is so based. What good is so-called “honour” when faced with an enemy clearly willing to give you none? Those Star Concord idealists sit in their ivory towers, their civilisations having never known the pain of near-extinction, and they DARE to lecture us about so-called honour? Those Star Concord people might condemn us, but soon they will see that we were on the right side of history. "I was there when a world died. I was at the bridge of the 'Sword of Terra', a low maintenance guy. I had to stay close to the bridge, or on it, at all times. At that moment, I was on it. I've catched the frantic calls of the Star Concord, desperatly trying to convince us to stop, to see reason, that what we were doing was nothing less then a massacre. Almirant Ivanova, a woman of half a century of experience leading the most powerful ships of the GTU, simply ignored the calls, by strict orders of Terra itself. 'We are in position, Ma'am' - said one of the bridge officers. 'Very well' - she answered. She then took a deep breath, and, with a very small amount of hesitation, she ordered: 'Initiate the charging of the 'World Ender', and begin transmission' The bridge moved with the customary precision of hundreds of hours of training, but a deep silence befell the entire ship. All that we could hear was the silent thrum of the generator. And then, Almirant Ivanova begun the speech that would enter history: 'That who doesn't kill us makes us stronger'. This ancient saying, born in the distante past of Terra, was amongst humans a request to never give up, no matter how difficult or painful the hardships an individual or group had to face. This ancient proverb proves itself true today. Now, after 400 years, Humanity stands over the very homeworld of the species that, in an unprovoked manner, tried, and failed, to destroy us. We, the children of Terra, stand in judgement of an entire species, that research proved to be so hostile, so vile, so beyond any means of comprehension, that only one veredict is acceptable. By the power confered to me by the Great Terran Union, the will of its citizens and the dictate of Fate itself, We, Humanity, declare the Tyrum guilty. No appeal will be accepted, nor any claim of leniency. The blood of billions stains their hands, and only this action can serve as appropriate punishment. Less than that would be to diminish not only the loss of lives, but the unsurmountable sacrifices our kind had to make to overcome and recover from such terrible atrocity. The only veredict for such crime is death. Ten thousand Tyrum for one drop of our blood. This is the only acceptable price. And, by this action, vengeance is achieved, and we can finally allow the rest of the souls of billions that, to this very day, impelled us towards this moment. Glory to the Great Terran Union! Glory to Humanity! Terra Victor! ' When she finished, Almirant Ivanova simply nodded to the weapon control, and a single button was pressed. And a spear of light was formed, burning the atmosphere in seconds, transforming buildings, animals, plants and Tyrum in ash. And it continued, now cracking the surface, causing immense earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, boiling the seas and killing all life to the viral level. And I saw the planet crack, consumed by convulsions, resembling a god wounded by traitorous chidren. The spear of light ceased. And we all saw fragments of continents, islands, mountains and trenches begun to drift away from one another. We destroyed a planet. And around me, some people laughed. Others cried. Many stayed in silence, including me. And Almirant Ivanova said a phrase that now I will carry with me forever, for in that day, I've saw what Humanity had become, and how will be known for all eternity: 'And now I am Death, the Destroyer of Worlds' Transmission was finished. There was nothing more to do. After 400 years, vengeance was ours. We sacrificed a lot to garantee that, one day, we would make the Tyrum pay. No step was done without taking this in consideration. No advance was make if did not lead us to this act. So, why after our triumph, after all made and done, this victory taste like ash? Maybe I will never find the answer. Maybe no one will. But I was there, when a world died." - Josiah Valiente, Electronics Technician of the 'Sword of Terra', in an interview to a Holo-show.

_I saw the Sword of Terra gather into position, Concordant Diplomats kept asking, imploring me to stop the weapon. Appeals to my base "human moral understanding". ... Heh, Human morality. That died as soon as the Tyrum landed. These idealists knew nothing about what we have seen, The horrors done to us,_ *THE PAIN EVERY TERRAN SHOULDERS AS A COMMON SACRIFICE TO DESTROY ALL WHO HAVE MADE US THE MONSTERS FIRING UPON THEM RIGHT NOW!* _Comms channels opened._ _I saw the planet crack._ _The diplomatic channel closed without a word._ _My council of advisers all were silent as the remains began forming into something of a geosynchronous orbit._ _I was proud, but shocked at the action. Who wouldn't be?_ _I ordered FleetCom mobilized, the Diplomatic Corps to start Plan Lexington and asked how long until the Concord response came._ _Admiral Ivanova, the Mistress of Death herself, was the first response and answered, "Why would they poke Death?"_

I too was there, when humanity at last claimed vengeance for the atrocities committed against our forebears centuries ago. I was among the Land Force Command units that had been hand picked for this mission. In the unlikely event that the Sword of Terra failed to destroy the enemy home world, we would lead a full scale invasion of the planet. And to this day, I wish with all my soul that it had failed. Our victory was hollow, for we did not meet the Tyrum face to face and beat them on their own soil. This was not honorable combat, this was pouring gasoline on an ant pile. This was a betrayal of humanity's warrior spirit. There is a reason why almost every position of authority in The Greater Terran Union is held by those who have served in the Terran military. When the GTU had been formed, humanity was reborn. Human civilization was reforged in the crucible of apocalyptic war and we took our first steps towards becoming a true warrior race. And now, we will forever be denied the honorable victory over the Tyrum that is our birthright. For even they did not deserve the coward's death that we unleashed upon them.

The Terran Ambassador Mohamad Azami had been called many name. The Watchman of the Frontier, Bane of the Rixians, The Silent Garuda. In the eyes of the humans, it is a well-earned nickname for a relatively young war veteran, for this 35 years old soldier/diplomat had faithfully serve the Union has one of their brightest strategist in many of the Terran wars. But while the humans valued his strategic acumen and his combat ferocity, for the xenos he represent himself as a vocal rational voice in amidst of the xenophobic human society. He is, by all account, a poster boy of the Terran Office of Foreign Policy, for his understanding in diplomacy and alien society rival that of his tactical mindset provide him with enough political leverage, charisma and ability befit of his station. If the diplomats of the Concord had any shot to end whatever madness the Union is currently planning for, it would be by persuading this young human. But alas, they are wrong. "I believe that I had made myself clear, ladies and gentlemen," he calmly announced in front the Concord's ambassador, dashing any hope they had in stopping the Union "If the Star Concord wishes to keep their hand clean, then we humans will gladly destroy the Tyrum alone" "But this is madness, human" the Tortugan diplomat quickly countered. Her very voice echoes desperation that betray her calm face and firm stature, knowing that their goal had failed at the very moment the negotiation had started, "waging war of extermination is one thing, but literally destroying their homeworld is way too far--" "The Marshals aren't the only people agreed to this plan" the young human diplomat said sternly. He turn his back from the diplomats, as his eyes gazed upon the beautiful night sky beyond the window of his office, "All of you are well aware that the entire humanity is crying for Tyrum's blood. This crusade could not be stopped -- not even I or any of you could put an end of this war" It was a final nail to the coffin. The exasperated diplomats could do nothing else to sway his mind, and the talks was soon brought to the swiftest end by that very moment, "And with heavy heart, we, as the representative of the Star Concord, announced that a 20-years embargo shall be imposed toward the Greater Terran Union, and any cultural, technological and scientific exchanges shall be suspended for the entire duration of the embargo" the Ruu's ambassador calmly announced. The room went silent for a while, before the old diplomat continues, "However, the border of the respective member states for the Star Concord will remain open for any Terran military vessel for the entire duration of the your war against the Tyrum" "This is a surprise" the human asked, he himself are conflicted whether to be surprised or happy with this revelation, "I could understand the reasoning behind the embargo, but I'm expecting that the border of your federation are to be closed to us a sign of protest as well" "The Tyrum is as much an enemy to us, human" the Ruu's remain, his fellow colleagues had already bowed in respect as they made their way to the door, their customary greeting were purposely made absent as a sign of protest, "Besides, your warfleet would not care whether the border is closed or not. We just hope that you will end the Tyrum's menace, considering that we could not do much to talk your people into reason. If you may?" The old Ruu respectfully bows and greeted in his native language, and the human likewise do so in return, but as he made his way into the exit, he turn his back once more, his melancholic voice resonates as he gave an advice that will resonates in his mind as long the human diplomat lived. "The galaxy fears of your kind, human. You better be ready for your own future, for it will never be kind to your people" The door closed, leaving behind the human diplomat alone in his room for contemplation. He gazed upon the Concord's heavily guarded cosmopolitan city, its residents lived on with merry life as Tyrum threatened to wipe out their kind, unaware of the less fortunate fate inflicted upon his race centuries ago. He gazed upon the star of Sol, far from the alien world where he resides. Still it shines as bright as many other blinking stars of the galaxy, and that sight alone made him chuckled at the sad fate of his people. His species stood tall and strong, feared and respected, and yet they are alone. Alone, as neither of the xenos across the galaxy would never understood what made mankind into what they are today. Alone, as no matter how much other races try to reason with his kind, did not change the fact that they did not have the same misfortune as his kind ever had. Luck has always sided with the xenos. Humankind did not have the same luxury as they are. "Perhaps the galaxy does fear the mankind, old man" he spoke to himself "It always does..."

Diary from a GTU citizen: Log 1: Well, uhhh, hello log! Is...is that what I call these things? Or erm, diary? I guess I’ll continue calling it a ‘Log’, anyway, I had found this old thing in one of my boxes so I guess I should start writing in it, also, it’s my fifth day on earth! Yay! Had to put in a hell of a lot of work to get an apartment this good but it was worth it! I can even afford to have a relatively long shower every third day! Been a bit rough, what with all the Wars I’ve been in, but atleast I can afford some luxury, a....a lot happened today, I guess I’ll go through with how my day started and then tell you the end, so I woke up in my apartment, which I was still unpacking my things in, had my ‘Wassari Plushies’ all unpacked though, liked keeping in a pile in my closet, makes me feel....oddly safe, or ‘safer’, not like anything could happen when I’m on the same planet as GTU headquarters though. Had some dinner, just your normal Virian steak, went outside, said hello to a few neighbours of mine, one of them being my Wassari friend, Axurz, and the moment I stepped outside I saw a gigantic crowd of people crowded around a holo-board in the street. ‘Damn, people must be real excited for the PF6’ I thought, before I....got a better look at the screen, it was the news and it showed some lady in a business outfit showing footage she, and most other news outlets, had received from the GTU. It was of a planet, a planet that we had all come to know, the Tyrum homeworld, and situated above it, a structure of immeasurable scale. It looked like some kind of dark spire, twisting and turning into a slim form, rings surrounded the outside of the structure, perhaps being used to conduct power for whatever its purpose was. The news reporter had apparently received info from the GTU that they had dubbed it with the name “The Sword of Terra”. How ominous, we could all see a yellow light beginning to form from a part of the Sword of Terra, I looked down the street and saw countless other humans and Wassari staring at other holo-boards, the Wassari in particular staring at it in mostly fear, while humans were staring in pure awe. Snapping back towards the board closest to me the yellow light had begun to grow even brighter and larger in scale, a few, devastatingly quiet moments passed, until, like a bolt of lightning, the wrath of all humanity descended upon the Tyrum homeworld, millions of Tyrum were destroyed in an instant the second the yellow bolt struck the planet, red, veiny cracks appeared across the seas and ground a few seconds later, and in the blink of an eye the planet had exploded. Gigantic chunks of the previously normal planet floated off into space, thousands, maybe even millions of gasps were heard in that moment, those gasps were replaced by multiple cheers of what might seem like twisted and disgusting happiness at what had transpired to some, but for me and billions of others it was completely understandable, even I had laughed. Others, however, were silent. The Wassari scattered about the crowds looked up in horror, perhaps thanking their gods that humanity had not delivered such a fate to them. The News Lady, who was merely silent at such a fate to the planet, had begun saying something about the GTU hasn’t yet given any other messages to them after sending this video. I didn’t listen to the rest however, I instead retreated back to my home. I’ll update when more info about what just happened has been released, I may not know much about what the galaxy as a whole will think of what just happened, I do know one thing though, the enemy of man, the one that killed millions of our race has finally, finally been purged. I think I’ll sleep now. I don’t have much energy after writing this. Terra Aeternum!

Humanities were put into a sideline when the concord discusses the faith of Tyrum. Yet the decision is still going to threaten civilized worlds. For humanity it was personal. A deep rooted responsibility that humanity owes to every child, men, and women who perished during and even after the invasion of the old earth. It wasn't just about peace, or was just about a moral compass. But it was about a vow made centuries old ago, which made humanity strives of what they have become. With the demonstration of what GTU have achieved, now humanity may be percieved as a threat to other civilization in the galaxy. It gets more interesting...
@fadelsukoco30926 жыл бұрын
Yeah, and considering that we never had any hostility to the Concord themselves, and by sparing the Tyrum, a literal hivemind with no such thing as individuals or actual individual people with actual aspirations or opinions, and the entirety of the race is an extent of the malicious will of the Tyrum, which the Concord themselves have proceed to be utterly unapproachable by diplomacy or compromise of any kind, prone only to violence and always attacking unprovoked, is the Concord not being hypocritical here? The Concord are made up of civilizations who were all former victims of the Tyrum's addiction to senseless slaughter, and after sacrificing so much, after enduring so much poss and pain, paying in blood for every inch gained of Tyrum-sullied soil, they have the sheer hypocrisy to allow the Tyrum to exist? This is after they learned that the Tyrum are not a conventional civilization. To oversimplify a bit, it's kind of like this: The Allied powers after WW2 didn't go and hunt down and execute every single person who weren't forced into labor or didn't resist the Nazi policies in Germany, because many people didn't have any better choice at the time. Not every member of the Nazi party was a fanatically-antisemetic civie-killer or supported such. Many were simple people in the regime trying to live their lives, and some were soldier only trying to protect their country and their loved ones. That's because in that example, the regime was ultimately made up of different people, all with opinions and individual identities. Some could have disagreed or had different views and some didn't participate or fund or supply those committing the genocides. A civilization such as the Tyrum on the other hand, is not a collection of individual people with individual thoughts and feelings. They (if you can even appropriately call the Tyrum as a whole a they) are multiple bodies belonging to a single mind. That's what their Hivemind is. So you can't make excuses about noncombatants or those not at fault due to circumstances when talking about the Tyrum, since they have no individuals. All their members share the same one mind, and that mind says to kill, to slaughter and indiscriminately destroy anything in sight that cannot be used to further said destruction. The Concord would be betraying and disrespecting all those from any civilization who risked and sacrificed all they had to resist the Tyrum, and all those victims who did not have the chance to. They are betraying the very reason for their existence as a nation. If the Concord dies not have the respect and dignity to avenge all those brave volunteers and victims killed by the Tyrum, then the GTU will do it for them. That way, the Concord will keep their hands clean, and the suffering will end.

"Every wonder encountered shall be utilized, every terror overcome. And when those responsible for the murder of millions are found Every injustice will be repaid a hundred and then a thousand times over. The entire galaxy will know that they came to the wrong neighbourhood And knocked on the wrong door." Little did the Star Concord know that Humanity had a promise to pay up. For the fathers that lost their wifes and children. For the mothers that lost offspring and spouses. For every child that grew up an orphan. For every pet that burned, every hope that vanished, every scar, every tear and every drop of human blood. Every pain given shall be repaid. And the bar´s closing TERRA INVICTA

They won't be a threat for hundreds of years! Please, High Marshal. Please withdraw all your forc--" The diplomat suddenly turned, as he hears his secretary brought shocking news. He turns back to face The High Marshal with an even angry face. "High Marshal! What is this?" He showed a pad with a video from a Star Concord reconnaissance ship, showing a huge fleet of Terran Ships escorting an even larger vessel. "It was 'The Sword of Terra', a superweapon capable of destroying an entire planet."Said the High Marshal with his calm voices. Now the diplomat reaction was angrier. "You are not doing what I thinking, right?"The High Marshal now smiles and said. "Yes. We will destroy Tyrum and erase the existence of this filthy species with it."The diplomat was shocked by the answers. "This is genocide! This is a war crime!"The diplomat rages. "For you, but for us, it's justice. 400 years ago, they came and invaded us, we were not ready. They killed. They slaughtered billions of us, and now we will have our revenge."Said the High Marshal. His calm voice sent chills over to The diplomat's spine, he could feel it. "High Marshal, killing them isn't going to bring billions of people they have slaughtered back. Please withdraw your fleet."The diplomat begs as hard as he could. The High Marshal sits back down and said."Computer. End this transmission." "High Marshal! You can't do thi--"The Concord diplomat hologram fades away. The High Marshal finally relaxed and watch the broadcast of the fleet now positioned above Tyrum. "This is Admiral Karen Al'saran to High Marshal. The Sword of Terra charged and readied. Permission to fire."The commanding officer of the Sword of Terra's voice came in. The High Marshal sigh and said."Permission to fire. Granted."As his voice ended. The superweapon now readied to fire. A moment later, a blue light aroused the superweapon and in a splits seconds the blue beam strikes down the Planet. The atmosphere was destroyed, oceans evaporated, lands filled with fire, continental plates start splitting. Within a minute, the planet shattered into millions of pieces floating in endless space. The once beautiful continental planet has become scattered rocks of nothing. The High Marshal sigh in relief, the superweapon was working and the billions who died in the great war have avenged. But in that split moment, he thought. Did he does the right thing or not?

"What I remember about the fall of the Tyrum... was how quiet it was. Following the establishment of the exclusion zone and the subsequent dismissal of the G.T.U embassies, the Sword of Terra was discreetly transferred through the blockades and into the exclusion zone. It was a silent trip. We all knew what was about to happen, what we were about to do. Did we have any doubts? Any private, traitorous thoughts? Perhaps, but no one said a word. Not when we boarded the Sword of Terra, not when the firing order came down, and not when the planet burned. Not a word." ~Excerpt from the journal of an unknown G.T.U marine

Plot twist: The Tyrum were a psionic prescient conciousness, and foresaw their own destruction at the hands of the Terrans, and the initial attack was to prevent this from coming to pass...
@carlsampson17646 жыл бұрын
Even nastier twist - the Tyrum were "caretakers:" a species designed by The Old Ones solely to protect and maintain their home planet (& tech) while they were away taking care of bigger problems (think Steven Baxter's "Xeelee" vs. the "Photino Birds," or Doctor Who's "Final Time War.") Some time in the past, some unknown (and likely now extinct) race landed on that world to plunder it, which triggered the Tyrum's "protect" function, and they went "postal" on the invaders. Unfortunately due to their "programming," once they discovered there were other space-fairing races, they decided to treat everyone of them as a "threat." Just before the final destruction of their master's home world, the Tyrum sent a signal informing them of their home's demise. And because of this, these Old One likely will be coming back, and they will be very, very, VERY PISSED...

@@min24434 From an rp perspective, I think it's mostly because outside threats legitimizes the current form of government, nothing else. The GTU is no longer a nation under threat that needs to run it's society the way it currently does, without an enemy, the people will begin to consider that. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the GTU intended to sour relations with the Star Concord by destroying the Tyrum. Not only does the GTU fulfill it's ultimate goal, but it guarantees a new enemy, further legitimizing it's rule.
