You have given a lot of good tips but this is also a pretty hard starting setup. By taking northern Italy, you are setting yourself up for an early war with Rome. They WILL declare war on you in the near future because they are scripted to take that territory. It might so that Rome is weakest early on, so taking them out first might be smart, but it will be very hard. I usually take Narbonensis (home province) in the first 3-4 turns be rushing and spamming out max generals. It pretty easy actually. Then you can go for Rome if you are lucky enough that the Iberians do not declare war on you and take you home province. Which is what happens most of the time. That is why I always go for Iberia and Gaul first and then North Africa and Italy. Sorry for the long post. I do enjoy you videos though as I also enjoy discussing these tactics. (I'm not saying my strat is better, it's just different). Good day!

Appreciate the comment and the kind words :) Yeah this is also a few updates ago so not sure the strat I used here applies as much. I like the Gaul the Iberia route idea though, I might try that in my next playthrough ❤️

@@TheTerminatorGaming There are actually some major changes to Massalia in the latest update. The army building is now split in Hellenic and Gallic buildings and takes very long to build. Your unit roster is also changed a lot. It makes it harder to get a good early army (the standard massalian hoplites are kinda trash). It would be really cool to see a Massalia campaign. I have been thinking of making one myself too bc I have seen that some people are struggling to survive & the new update is making the campaign a lot harder than it already was.

Where is your population count? It seems like your version is very bugged because you can also recruit thureos units in turn 5, its not really realistic for a normal dei version but it is still a good guide

Not sure if you figured this out yet but your scripts are broken. For example, DeI has populations, if you check the UI, the populations aren’t showing up. When the scripts are broken like that reforms are also broken. That’s why various bugs keep appearing, I think your load order might be messed up.

I’m actually playing along with you! But I see my certain things are different from our games in the start. I auto had trade with Rome, everyone doesn’t really like me, no contact with Carthage yet, my settlement is more developed, and I have less food. I haven’t played in awhile and can’t remember but are those things random at the start of any campaign?

As reguard to your diplomatic fleet, after a set amount ot turns attrition/disease will set in, do you let that Admiral perish in his task for trade treaty or do you bring him back before his death?

If you've got the steam version of Rome II then DEI has already been automatically updated to 1.2.8.
