DEI CARTHAGE: HOW TO CRUSH ROME IN 10 TURNS - Rome 2 Divide Et Impera 1.2.8 Faction Guides

In this video I’m going to run through my guide to succeeding in your first 10 turns as Carthage in the fabulous Total War Rome 2 mod Divide Et Impera!
This is the 3rd video in a series that will eventually cover most if not all the factions in Rome 2 DEI because I love the hell out of this mod, there are lot’s of new players and I know many of you have requested these guides as well so many birds are being hit with one stone.
Divide Et Impera Rome 2 can be brutal to the newcomer, even when playing OP factions like Carthage, you really need to know how to deal with the political system, your neighbours, public order, everything! The smallest oversight can lead to immediate as well as future issues.

This Carthage is fine but I found that the Carthage start in Ancient Empires is far more fun. Still, great video!

is fine , but later in Ancient Empire becomes really boring, as the period is set in 204 BC at ZAMA, and Rome is not agressive enough to put a fight ,you vannila conquer the map against romans in a very easy way.

The start is defo a bit boring but if u build it up first and start with iberia which is challenging n fun n let Rome build up into a super power to face later on. It's what I'm doing now n it's very fun.

Thank you brother @TheTerminator When I first started this game, I could never get a hang of Carthage and am hungry to start a new campaign with them and follow this blueprint. I love how you timestamped all of the turns on the right hand side. Amazing tutorial, I would never think I'd have a chance with inferior numbers against such an elite force, but you proved me wrong.

Macedon would be cool. Antigonai’s unit roster is so huge with elite Cav and phalanxes. Would be nice to see you counter elephants and barb shock infantry in the early game.

In my campaign I usually rely very heavy on my fleet to destroy full stack armies on transport ships. The AI often attacks my fleets that way

27:06 Supply chains don't go over the sea. All the close connections between two land masses like Sicily/Italy, North Africa/Iberia, Thrace/Anatolia, where you can cross with an army will only offer supply through ports but never land routes. The supply pit will in these cases not supply the adjacent provinces as it says in the description

I mean, when you think of it, it would be spread out in a thin line, covering the city walls. Hereby, both opponents will face the difficulty of assembling a sufficient force from the start of the battle. Also, to the Terminator, thank you for these videos, I have learned a lot from them.

After all, it is its own territory, so perhaps, some hidden units, or defensive palisades, whatever, essentially, making it easier for the AI army to counter the sieging army. Furthermore, when the AI has different armies in a Sally Out engagement, it should be easier for it, to gather all its forces, before it assault. Otherwise, it is too easy, as the human player, to win. It should be difficult.

I MUST say: you are some crazy player M@K - er to engage in those odds. What would have help you a lot would be to recruit a second general and help this army in the first line, while cav general main stack, would go around flank and win your battle. Garrison or not, few players would survive that. Ofc, against AI you can maximise all advantaged, as AI is playing like most romans generals did in real punic wars, but, even me, which i played Carthage so many times , woudn't engage Rome legions like that. So proper GG for your courage. Keep in mind DEI script for AI ROME , let them recruit new legions when italy gets invaded by human player. So once you take Cosetium, a legion will be spawned at Rome. And i'm not sure if the script worked in your case.

Thanks bud, I mean thats the point though most people won’t know how to engage a Roman army like this head on, but its pretty much 1. Pin down with Hoplites 2. Flank round with cav/elephants 3. Sling shit But yeah, this is rushing Rome, most players won’t rush Rome like this, makes for a better late game challenge :)

Rome didn't declare war on me after I took syracuse. I have the run user script toggled on for mods. Right now Rome still good buds with me. I'm using the latest DEI campaign beta too.

What happened to projectiles?? Vanilla rome was way better at capturing the physics behind slings and audio effects for added immersion. This is like watching a giant snowball fight

I hope the developers will change the fact, that it is so easy to request money from trade agreements, from start. This option should first become available in mid-game, and only with factions who either like you a lot, or see an option in you fighting a common enemy. It's sad that there's more Lore and scripts in Lord of the Rings than actual historically based game. They focused so hard on units and factions and didn't bother with buildings or geography. They'd be better off just scraping the whole thing and just make a regional map with resources and let the players customize their faction from the ground up

You can crush anything in DEI by just auto resolving every battle cause the battles are horrible. Ancient Empires Para Bellum and Wars of the Gods have way better battles.
