The difference between Tesla's bot tech and others is that theirs is re-engineered from first principles using Deletion rules. Others uses existing servos and third party components. Tesla is vertically integrated, all servos , joints are re-engineered for their specific purposes. Then, you get to the AI part. This is their core differences. Their evolution of the FSD is a prime example, it has been completely re-engineered twices already. Tesla understands a design can only go so far before it is obsoleted, thus they accelerate the process. That means testing to destruction in order to find the limits and design weaknesses, few if any others do such. Their AI is also end-to-end, others are mostly heuristics with some neural networks. The weakness is the heuristics part that is rather rigid and cannot self-evolve. End2end requires more training variances ,thus requires lots of real-life data modelling ,plus a combo of simulation plus realworld data. Such a process is time consuming without shortcuts in the current AI tech.

FSD is never going to be full self driving. Tesla bots don't do any work on their own, all operating as waldos. (See 6:25 or so.) When a Tesla bot can actually put a screw into a hole or stack up eggs without anyone controlling it, get back to me.

They are slow to make decisions and respond because they uplink, send data, it gets processed on the server then sent back to the robot for output/action... I disagree with the assumptions of this video. There is plenty of power on board. A robot with even the simplicity of a common laptop could actually run a full programming language like Python, with no need for constant Wi-Fi. With Python, the robot can handle speech-to-text (STT) and text-to-speech (TTS), meaning it can listen to what you say and talk back to you. It could store data for these functions in easy-to-manage JSON files or similar, which are basically just hard coded (not neural) and organized lists of information for a simple neural network to select from. Python has tons of libraries (pre-built code) that make it super easy for the robot to process speech and control its movements. All the basic stuff, like walking or responding to simple commands, can be done without any internet connection, thanks to this internal setup. This "Safety Mode" lets the robot do its thing independently. If the robot needs to tackle something more complicated, like advanced problem-solving or using specialized models, that’s when it might need to connect to Wi-Fi. But for everyday tasks, it’s totally self-sufficient!

Conning investors is the goal of the Tesla bot and it is delivering! The Tesla bought allows, Elon to make a whole raft of new absurd promises about what is going to happen in just the very near future and enables Tesla stock out to say absurd things like Tesla stock is going up and up and up it’s gonna be $10,000 a share in a month! it doesn’t really matter what the Tesla is able to do so far doesn’t seem to be very much what matters is that the Tesla bought encourages people to buy Tesla stock and drive the price up so that Elon can exercise his options or loans against his options without exercising them.

@@Samera-uf8fg The time buffer is more like 5-10 years for the really elaborate stuff that Musk predicts, but oddly it gets done much faster than anyone else. Falcon 9 (still the Only orbital rocket in the world that is reusable - 22x so far and counting) has flown more than 300 times with only 1 fail (excluding the first 2 developing years). It has landed hundreds of times and is considered the most reliable and cheapest way to space for the bulk of the orbital market. They flew 80% of the orbital mass sent up in 2023 in 98 F9/FH flights, on schedule for more than 120 flights this year. So no, their experimental stuff goes boom frequently (more than 30 of the 550+ Raptor 2 engines were tested to destruction and resulted in the vastly more advanced Raptor 3. As for the Starship (by Far the largest heavy lifter, designed to be completely reusable out of the gate and designed for mass production). The last 2 of 4 launch tests were successful in achieving low orbital altitude. The last, returned Both halves to the surface in a controlled re-entry and hover before spalshing in the ocean. The fifth flight will attempt to recover the first stage with future tests recovering the 2nd stage. The Raptor 3 engine has the highest thrust to mass ratio in the world by a good margin and is the most efficient non- hydrogen engine by far (H2/O2 engines have many problems including volume... which is excessive and requires huge tankage). Meaning H2 is not the way to go going forward. CH4 is. The most advanced rocket engine - by far The heaviest livter - ever - by far The Only Fully Reusable Rocket (no one's even mastered returning the first stage yet) A massive super heavy lifter that only costs $100m to build vs the Saturn V which cost $1.5 billion in today's dollars - about equal to the SLS. Then there's the Starlink satellite business with more active satellites than the rest of the world combined at over 6500 and counting (rapidly). The launch rate about to explode as Starship will be able to put up 5x as many satellites of the new, heavier, 2.25x as capable V2large sats. They are pulling in a Lot of profit on the V2mini, growing, literally, weekly while the new V2large will vastly increase its profitability in conjunction with the new E-band, high frequency spectrum that Only Spacex is using (except for 1 satellite by a tiny rival). This expands the profitability of their network as over 2000 current satellites already support it and it will allow backbone bandwith for cloud computing. So. No. You clearly don't know Spacex.

Great humanoid bot hands are done. They're literally everywhere now. The hips/pelvis, however, still remain a work in progress. Locomotion and agility are vital for efficient humanoids, and the current crop of shuffle bots out there, just won't cut it - with the notable exception of Atlas II.
@avgjoe5969
@avgjoe5969 22 күн бұрын
Yeah. Boston Robotics still has the high ground on agility (by a wide margin). Their new design is Really cool with some super human agility there. But their training is still far behind the other top tier robots (Figure/Tesla/ maybe one or two others). The Very impressive videos required a Lot of trial and error. They have a good head start on the physical components, (they can Run, Dance, Backflip) but takes a long time to program in a new task. Also, they have only just introduced hands, so they may be a bit behind on that. Then there is the big one. Understanding where you are in the world and how it works (its safe to pass a tree close by (trees don't move) but passing a human that might suddenly change direction, maybe pass a couple of feet further away to avoid a collision)... Tesla cars learned this by example. Atlas needs to do this too to work in a dynamic factory with humans that do unpredictable things. But yes, BR is the only one to demonstrate human level agility (other than the hands) if only for explicitly programmed movements.

@avgjoe5969

They will not use a custom chip for each industry, too expensive and it won't be particularly helpful. It will be a common model chip. The Body, however, is another thing. Tesla is building for 5'8" to emulate an average human. Not a good design for the military unless driving tanks and such. Making beefier robots to Be tanks may be better on the battlefield once the intelligence is cheap enough to replicate as a module.

Only the time frame which is expected to be complete in its first truely useful (for factory work) iteration by the end of 2025 by which time Tesla stated they expect 1-3,000 Teslabots working in its factories. I see a High probability that this comes to pass with a delay of no more than 6 months. Several bots are already working in one of his factories doing rudimentary work. The (very) iffy part is that they "plan" to sell Teslabots by the end of 2026 outside the company. This last, is, very probably "Elon Time" and it may be another 2-3 years later... but not 5 or 10... and Then, for factory and warehouse work. Tesla is using a combination of local and remote proficiency modules, with the bulk of the intelligence remote on Massive super computers and a powerful local computer (per the type they use in their cars today) to serve as "near term" memory for common tasks. For example, in a factory: Line worker positions A-F might be stored locally for rapid shifting between positions with line worker proficiency in positions A-Z stored offline with only a few minutes needed to download any of those modules.

Once a robot properly "understands" a job... including what to do when an object is dropped or a "coworker" tries to squeeze past... one can greatly increase the speed. Walking, for example is agggh slow right now save for Boston Robotics (though their teaching method is still behind). They got the speed and fluidity down, but the teaching model is a bit behind so teaching it what to do requires a lot more effort.

Possibly the strangest part of this video for me was even just the concept that the dude narrating (and I guess writing these) would use a keyboard (??) rather than speech-to-text (such as I am using, to write this comment - I'm using Nuance's ubiquitous Dragon software). STT is SO much quicker and more efficient, as regards away to generate scripts/text, etc.

Human hand and finger design evolved for hunter gatherer activities about 2 million years ago. Making stuff in a factory is different and typically not best suited to the human hand. That's why purpose-built robots are built with better and specific functions. Make a robot humanoid and you can only do humanoid function.
@dalvinm906
@dalvinm906 22 күн бұрын
we literally built civilisation for the humanoid form. Besides a humanoid robot can operate specialised machines. if i could only have one robot it would be a humanoid robot. i.e you can't tell a washing machine to lay your bed, clean house , wash the car, do construction. These are all things a humanoid robot can do and more.

@@dalvinm906 The human hand is made up of a total of 27 individual bones: 8 carpal bones, 5 metacarpal bones and 14 phalanges that are connected by joints and ligaments. None of your listed activities requires the complication and number of wearing parts and joints of a robotic human hand. All our tools are built for the human hand. It's important to step back and freshly review robot form based on needed function.

@@louismorejohn586 There are more things that we do than dalvinm906 mentioned. You can't think of anything that would challenge all the capabilities of the human hand? Ever watch a great artist at work? How about a brain surgeon? Even a mechanic does amazing things with his/her hands.
@louismorejohn586
@louismorejohn586 22 күн бұрын
@@billweberx I agree! The hand is remarkably versatile. It is also very complicated and its functions last no longer than its synovial joints. Us TSLA stockholders hope that this bot's joints are lubricatible, cheaply replaceable and very long lasting.

Soooooo... Tesla is designing a hand for its robot to use tools that were designed for the human hand?? aka, they are designing a tool to use tools that it was never intended to use? Wouldn't that mean its easier and better to design tools for specific tasks and jobs? Just like we currently do in every automated factory??

I'm fine communicating with the robot via an app on my phone as long as it can complete the tasks i want. It doesn't matter much to me if it can talk fast.
@avgjoe5969
@avgjoe5969 22 күн бұрын
If it screws up, you might want to stop it quicker. The app would be fine for intial proficiency module updates (installing a motor on an assembly line vs a battery install) but later, when its taking care of grandma, you want to be able to stop it from injecting her insulin into the side of her head fairly quickly. You also don't want people to have a long list of instructions to interact with the robot. This will reduce the cost/time to train new hire human workers.
