Notes: - Manual testing is the process of testing software manually without the assistance of automation tools or scripts. - It is the initial type of testing performed in a software testing team. - Manual testing is followed by automation testing, where tools and scripts are used. - Manual testing involves analyzing the requirements provided by the customer and identifying any gaps or discrepancies. - Test planning is an essential phase where the overall testing approach is defined, including the methodology and test coverage. - Test case creation is the process of designing and creating test cases for the identified requirements. - Test execution is the phase where the actual testing takes place. Test cases are executed manually in the test environment. - Defects or bugs are identified during the execution phase and logged for resolution by the developers. - Defects are retested after being fixed by the developers, and if they pass, they are closed. - Test reporting involves preparing reports to document the testing progress, results, and any open defects. - In agile methodologies like Scrum, shorter iterations result in dynamic reports, while waterfall or V-model approaches require formal test exit reports.

Hey Tyron, what other recourses/ courses have you been doing to become a QA engineer? I’m on the same path and would love some great advice!
@tyroncanady4685 Жыл бұрын
@khalilreza3062 absolutely! Currently I am going through this KZbin series, and then I will be enrolling in TripleTen QA Engineering course. I've heard great things about the Bootcamp. Plus there are alot of free videos here on KZbin to get acclimated as well.

Hello buddy. How did it go for you? Did you finish the bootcamp and get a job?

Just wanted to join in the chorus of appreciation for your work and contributions. I recently finished a bootcamp and am currently applying for work. These videos are really helping me do a full scale refresh of everything I've learned. Thank you!

Hey there. I'm curious which bootcamp did you go with and did you end up finding employment? I'm on the same path and am starting a bootcamp next month!
@Ketchupfakeblood Жыл бұрын
Hey, how’s it going! I went with TestPro. And I did! It obviously took some work to find work, but as I was looking a recruiter reached out and I eventually got a job. It wasn’t great, but those are kind of the breaks in the beginning. I actually JUST started a new job which IS great, so good things can come if you stick with it. My advice is to really learn Jira inside and out. And you’ll learn a variety of tools (which is great) but really focus on writing “perfect” test cases and focus on finding defects. The fundamentals will be a great base and confidence will come with that. Good luck to ya!

@Ketchupfakeblood thanks so much for the update. Really inspiring! All the best in your new role!

Hey thanks! Good luck with the bootcamp! Good things will come if you want this to be your path. And if asking questions isn’t a skill of yours, make it a skill. Get comfortable with that. That may sound like a throwaway comment, but it’ll come in handy. You’re not going to know everything, but you might think you should. No one expects that of you. But they do expect you to figure it out one way or another. That’s where getting comfortable with that sort of communication comes in. Take it from a person who is working on that skill currently. Good luck to you!

Summary Manual testing involves testing software manually without the use of automation tools, with key phases including requirement analysis, test planning, test case creation, execution, defect logging, and reporting. Highlights 🕹 Manual testing is done without automation tools. 📝 Phases include requirement analysis, test planning, test case creation, execution, defect logging, and reporting. 🔄 Collaboration is key in Agile methodologies like Scrum. 📊 Test reports can vary in length depending on the development approach. 🛠 Tools like Jira can streamline test case management. 🚀 Quality is everyone’s responsibility in Agile methodologies. ⏰ Waterfall approaches have longer testing cycles. Key Insights 🧠 Manual testing is essential for ensuring software quality as it involves human intervention to detect defects that automated tools may miss. This hands-on approach allows testers to simulate real user interactions and uncover critical issues that could impact user experience. 📊 Collaboration in Agile methodologies like Scrum promotes transparency and communication among team members, leading to faster feedback loops and continuous improvement. By involving stakeholders early in the process, teams can align on requirements and deliver high-quality software incrementally. 📉 The shift towards Agile methodologies like Scrum emphasizes the importance of shared responsibility for quality among team members. This shift from a phased approach in Waterfall methodologies to a collaborative team effort in Agile frameworks highlights the evolution of software development practices towards more adaptive and customer-centric approaches.
