Sounds exciting! I would start with learning and understanding a programming language like Python and then from there learning an automation tool like selenium. Also, see if where you currently work if they have an automation team. If so see what tools they use and specifically study those and see if you can make the change to the new role internally.

@@chayrybustamante2231 thanks for the reply. Personally I like automation more because I get a little more freedom and creativity with the code I’m writing. I also can find new ways to write better code and develop . Sometimes with manual QA it gets very repetitive and can lead to getting bored /stagnant

Good video thanks for your work. I have a few questions I hope you answer me this first one is it not expensive to live in Hawaii so travel at all to be able to save some money. To work as a software tester do I have to go up in level automation or can I work from ISTQB foundation level ? How long does the track take if you learn everything yourself with courses such as udemy?
@thetestlead
@thetestlead 4 ай бұрын
Hey I will try to answer them in order, but let me know if I miss anything. 1. I was only vacationing in Hawaii and worked a few days there while on vacation. I can’t imagine with the time zone difference people being able to enjoy life. Also, Hawaii is expensive like you mentioned. 2. It depends on where you live and the requirements, but I would definitely look to improve my skillset from the foundational level. The better your skillset the more marketable you are and easier it is to find better paying jobs. 3. Depending on your learning curve and time allocation, but you can definitely learn and become comfortable with the fundamentals within a couple of months. Then I would say to focus on getting real experience even if it’s volunteer or unpaid.

I did a boot camp last year and haven't gotten anywhere with the job search so I'm feeling a little discouraged on doing another boot camp.. what's different about the boot camp that you mentioned? Are students guaranteed a job after completing the boot camp? Thank you in advance for your answer.
@thetestlead
@thetestlead 3 ай бұрын
Hey, I’m sorry to hear about your experience. Don’t be mislead, no bootcamp can guarantee you a job unless they are hiring you themselves. Before investing any more money into more learning, I would try to sit down and figure out more why you aren’t getting a job. 1. Are you getting interviews and not doing well on them? 2. Are you not getting interviews at all? 3. When you are applying to jobs do you normally fit what they are asking for skillset wise? You can answer these questions here or send me an email and I’ll try to help you as much as possible but don’t get discouraged!

Hello future QA Engineers. I need some advice. I am not financially eligible for Careerist. I talked to them once before and my budget is not in position to attend their course, however I see where I can pay with afterpay for The Test Lead course which I am so thankful for. So I do it? Will this course be enough for me to transition into the tech field? I have no prior experience and I am ready to get started with QA Academy course. Thank you so much!
@thetestlead
@thetestlead 3 ай бұрын
Adding a comment so this moves up on comment list and other people can see it and possibly help you with an answer. My advice before investing money in either option is making sure you have realistic goals. Many courses and bootcamps will sell you on making a crazy salary doing nothing just so you can invest in them. Money does come in these roles, but not right away, so be aware of this. Unbiased as possible* opinion a Bootcamp vs courses, neither guarantees a job, because they can’t hire you directly. Bootcamp are better for people who want live instruction, set days to learn to help with accountability, possibly connections from former graduates, meeting classmates who have the same goal as you who you can possibly speak to to help you through the process. Bootcamps do cost more than courses and with bootcamps you have to go at their teaching speed which is helpful for some and not for others Courses are more budget friendly and self paced so you go at your own speed. However you have to be honest with yourself that you can hold yourself accountable to do the work and dedicate consistent time to learn. Some courses have support where you can ask questions if you are stuck others don’t. Hope this helps!

Man i am really trying to get into this field. Can you please recommend a course i cant start out with that's reputable but also help with job placement. From one black man to another lol. Pleasw
@thetestlead
@thetestlead 7 ай бұрын
There's a lot to that question, but I will try to break it down and be as transparent as possible while doing so. There are a bunch of affordable courses on udemy, but sometimes people have very strong accents so there may be a slight language barrier for some people. I also offer courses on my website, but they cost a little more than the udemy ones. As far as job placement, I don't think any course offers that. Some bootcamps may be able to help with that because they may have many graduates at a certain company, but even then it's usually shaky because the bootcamp or course instructor isn't hiring you directly so there isn't any guarantee of a job
