I might go even further to say that Mega Planet wasn’t a society of heroes to Metro Planet’s society of villains, but instead that Mega Planet was a society of peaceful inventors (with a flair for the over dramatic) to Metro City’s civilization of conquerors. I believe this is proven in Megamind’s extremely limited success battling, and Metroman’s effortless takeover of the city. Megamind was saved because he was supposed to be the peak of his civilization, but he’s certainly a lover and not a fighter. Despite his best most inventive efforts. And now I want to go even further beyond the evidence and say that Mega Planet created the black hole in a last ditch attempt to invent and escape from their conquering neighbors. They wanted to maintain their society and all the knowledge they’d gathered, but they knew Metro Planet couldn’t be stopped and would never allow them freedom. So they created the mutually destructive black hole to preserve their culture and technology. Would love to hear thoughts

I like your theory that they created the black hole to destroy Metro planet and themselves in the process, I guess the explanation as to why they only saved baby Megamind is that it would be hard to live with themselves knowing they had destroyed a planet. And maybe Metro Planet just had the one rocket and wanted to send someone with his whole life ahead of him. Also, given the name Metro Planet, I bet Metro City used to be called something else and was renamed after Metroman.

I always wondered about the line, “my soul purpose is to take care of you.” Minion’s fish race and Megamind’s race probably had some system on their home planet where Minion’s race served Megamind’s rave or just his family, as you mentioned his family was probably some kind of royalty. Minion knew his job, nay, his purpose, and that was why it was so traumatic for him when they had the fight and MM said he didn’t need Minion, whom we later see watching TV dejectedly in some run down motel.

So, I was thinking, then I came up with this: What if Roxanne is the daughter of the Warden? They both have the same hair color (brown) and eye color (gray). This could come as an explanation for why Megamind kidnaps her so much, and why the Warden hates him more than anyone. Also, the Warden seems to work 24/7, and the prison is way out of town. So if he had a daughter, he would almost never see her. This, along with what you discussed in part 1, could come as an explanation for the school being right next to the prison. In one of the shots of the opening monologue, we see the warden getting into his car. Why would he be leaving his job before kindergarteners leave school? Maybe to check on Megamind? Or maybe his daughter... (by the way there's a tiny bit of recognition on her face right before she hits the brakes and Megamind screams "Ow! My giant blue head!" I am aware that Roxanne says she didn't go to the same school, but that's when Megamind is disguised as Bernard. My best guess is that roxanne is the girl next to Metro Man in the class picture.

Perhaps Megamind's race has children every so often. Meaning that perhaps the species is long living due to the advances given by large brains. With people that live longer, children wouldn't be a common thing unless a large number of them were killed. With that in mind, perhaps other children did get sent away and we are only shown Megamind's escape. He is giving a minion because perhaps Minions species have a symbiotic relationship with Megamind's species and thus each minion is partnered with one of Megamind's species.

Hi, I have a little mini theory that might connect to the dreamworks universe theory, I think the third planet is not only home to minion, but also galaxar from MvA. Maybe HE was the one who created the black hole, as he did say in MvA that he destroyed his planet. Galaxar is also a squid-like creature, like an aquatic planet would have.

I've never noticed the antenna * _ * tho I don't understand something... if minion is a robot more than it is an animal, why would he need water to "live"?... and if it is an animal more than a robot, could it have some sort of artificial intelligence? I mean instead of being someone's body... Minion would have some sort of feelings but would never fully disagree or be angry with his boss for that much time if he was created specifically for complementing Megamind and fulfilling his orders and being fine with all his choices (even more than guide him like an adult would do). Megamind 2 plot: Megamind and Metroman where being Friends and then they found an Armada of ships haveing a battle above Earth. So Megamind, Minon, and Metroman envestgated the ships and found out that there system that they're from and more of there species. Also laster Megamind and Metroman found out that there parents led a resistance and Minon was a commanding general and a few of the resistance survied the black hole sent by there government to stop them. How will Megamind and Metroman stop the Mega worldans Ana the Metro worldand? Will the Resistance survie? Find out more when the movie comes out in 2119

@J.J.DoeArt i think it would be a little better if minion got a transmission through the antenna on his head, there are more of metro man and megaminds species, they are on a ship, the first quarter would be trying to figure out, should they come, but every second that they wait, the ones on the ship are closer to dying, the conflict would come from weather the people of earth could handle sharing there planet with aliens, ultimately just before the refugees are about to die megamind tells them to come, they come, the rest would be about showing the new aliens the planet, megamind would show a few of them around, the people of earth are very conflicted though, they dont think that its right that these aliens should just come to their planet uninvited, so megamind minion and roxanne would be fighting for these aliens, metro man would come and help, but then, something happens, one of the aliens turns, its revealed that they never were megamind and mero mans species, they were shape shifters, and these shape shifters have been at war with megamind and metro mans species for centuries, they caused the black hole, they killed everyone on all three planets, then a huge war starts between them all and im not too sure how it would end though, tell me what you think

My thoughts on the strangeness of that opening scene is that it might have never happened. If everything is just an act to keep Metro Man in line and most characters are unreliable narrators, either because they have been fed false information or are putting on an act, why should we trust what Megamind says? We only have his word that this happened, Minion never confirms it and we never see any amount of evidence. And even if the scene of the space pod crashing into the prison yard really happened, those pods could have just as easily been launched from Earth. In fact, what if Megamind and Metro Man aren't even aliens at all, but were the products of some kind of government experimentation. However, these weren't alien governments, but our own. Metro Man was intended to be some kind of super soldier and Megamind a genius, but when it became clear how dangerous Metro Man was, Megamind was repurposed to be his rival?

Just going to point out that the thing that the planet fall into can't be a black hole, at least not a black hole in how we would think about it. I what is a black hole? It's a star like object with so much gravity that not even light can escape. The very act of them spinning twists space time around them so much that nothing falling into them can fall directly into the. What do we see in the movie? A black ball? No we see what is clearly a vortex. Do the planets circle the vortex like they're going down the drain? No, they followed a curved path and then are sucked directly into the center. Now I am not an expert on black holes or astrophysics, but we know or at least assume that black holes are spherical in shape. If it was a black hole the planets got sucked into you would think it would be more ball shaped then vortex shaped. Either way take it with a grain of salt.

i have a question... how do we know that minion’s planet didn’t create the black hole to destroy the other planets’ main inhabitants? and then decided to stage it as an accident, to send on of their own off with either megamind or metroman? maybe they sent him to the metros’, but that pod was intercepted by the megas’? and then just for retribution, the megas’ replaced the fish’s brain with one of their own after torturing the answers out of him? maybe the fish was meant to overthrow whatever planet it was sent to, which would be FESTERING with fish much stronger than its own planets’.

Did you check to see if the antenna was there when Minion was first put in the pod? How do we not know if Megamind put it there himself to connect to the gorilla suit? It would still make him a creation of science but I don't see how Megamind would know he was created unnaturally unless he did it himself seeing as Minion never says anything about Megaworld and Megamind doesn't seem to know anything about his home planet

Well there are other possibilities. Megamind’s parents were probably like Superman’s, nobody believed them when they said the planet would get destroyed. Either that, or they knew beforehand. It IS a black hole. Some of them probably got pulled in via the black hole’s intense gravity, maybe some of them couldn’t escape it, maybe they couldn’t launch the escape pods in time. In all likelihood, it’s probably a combination of these factors contributed to the massive death toll. As for the black hole, they are some more possibilities. What if the black hole was naturally formed, what if it wasn’t a weapon, but rather an experiment that went wrong. Minion’s antenna is probably some universal translator so he can speak English, or whatever language the natives speak and/or Megamind speak. Also probably for connecting to equipment. I think he was bio-engineered to keep Megamind safe, a parent figure if you will. There are too many possibilities and unknown variables to know for sure. I have a theory though, it explains why the parents stayed. This is my personal opinion, a hunch. I think Megamind’s parents were inventors, explaining their son’s natural skill at tinkering. I think they were the ones who made the black hole. It was probably an accident, so they hurriedly gathered some parts and hastily made an escape pod. Megamind’s ship was obviously made at home, further evidence for the parents being inventors. They probably couldn’t make another pod, and even if they could, they didn’t want to. They probably felt guilty for screwing everything up, so they stayed there to die as punishment. But they couldn’t bear their baby boy dying there because of their mistake, so they sent him away with a bio-engineered buddy, to a new planet to call home… Well, in any case, we will know eventually. They ARE gonna make a Megamind animated series, so they will have to explain Megamind’s origin in more detail and add more lore. Besides, it would flesh out Megamind’s character more!

The way the families went out sounds like it was inspired much by the Kryptonians for when they sent Kal-E to Earth in an escape pod. The society was fully able to escape, but instead just sent their son (as well as his cousin but that is later). They also destroyed their own planet...

Or alternatively both planets (or at least Mega planet) did make evacuation attempts but Megamind and Metro man’s parents weren’t able to escape in time, so they quickly got a hold of a small escape pod and saved their child knowing that they were doomed for not evacuating the planet fast enough with the rest of their species

I think the reason the planets sent the 2 babies is because they believed when they landed on a planet, if they were adults, they would be killed, because they looked so different, however Metroman landed on a planet where he seemed to be the same as them, meaning he was chose to be a hero, and megamind, the villain

It IS worth a thought, but personally I really won't go so far to say Minion has the personality of Megamind's brother. Why would Megamind's parents introduce him as 'Minion' then, you know? I figured that the antanna on Minion's head is simply there to control the gorilla suit he's in, AND other suits Megamind made. He CAN control that big robot in the end scene where everyone's dancing WITHOUT the gloves that Megamind needed to control it.

Metro man and megaminds origins are clearly based off Superman’s. The canonical reason they stayed was, unless I’m remembering this wrong, because the people of krypton were arrogant and in denial of there inpending doom. Jor-el (Superman’s father) eventually gave up on convincing the people and built a small ship so Superman could escape. They did not join Superman because A: they were low on time and B: They didn’t think there bodies would be able to adapt to earth. Megaminds ship in my option looks kinda rushed, (although metromans doesn’t really.) so maybe the film writers intended on there charecters having the same origins as Superman. Just a thought.

im on theorizer marathon 😂 also i think your theory on megamind being a royalty of some sort is quite logical, if we follow the plot of the movie on how "opposite" megamind and metroman are. megamind was a royalty on his planet, so the opposite happens on earth; he lives in prison. they didnt show anything from metroman past, so the opposite happens on earth; has filthy rich parents, adored by EVERYONE. but yet wasnt destined for greatness. hence at the end he's just a humble man that cant sing.

The color of the third planet having a small amount of blue doesn't necessarily mean it has little water. Water Is clear until light is reflected onto it. It could just be that the third planet's atmosphere is a different color because of different elements in the air, thus effecting the perceived color of things on the planet from space.
